I am getting impressed more and more with these short stories lately. This is a paranormal breed of "True Blood" with plenty WTF/CRINGE moments. Author warns and it touches upon many sensitive subjects that may not be for everyone... such as rape, it is not violent but it is definitely not consensual... and that happens A LOT here... if you can stomach that great, but if not please don't pick it up.

Rachel is just an ordinary 9-5 girl who goes out Friday night to a night-club with her slutty bff....more

This shit is horrible. And horrific.

Who the fuck wants to read a "romance" which is 100% about rape or avoiding being raped?????????

The opening scenes in the book? A very violent very graphic rape.

WTF.

And I'll say it again: WTF!

Of course I didn't finish this.

DNF.

I'm amending my review. To a point. The way I feel about this book has not and will not change - but I do want to make a point.

The way I feel is the way I feel. Rape and violence against women are...more

I have no idea how I came to own this, and I have no idea how I managed to finish it. One of the worst pieces of utter drek I've ever had the misfortune to encounter (unless the author is ESL, in which case, great job learning English relatively well, please stop writing erotica).

EDIT: It's not drek because it's about rape: I'm a big noncon fan. It's drek because it's poorly plotted, shoddily constructed, the dialogue is appalling, the characters are thoroughly unlikeable and yet have no discern...more

(★★½) Definitely instances of rape in this book, but oddly enough, I didn't even think about REAPERS as being "rape erotica" or "rape fantasy" when I was reading it. As played out in the book, I saw the first rape more as a plot device (damsels in distress; cue male lead(s) to come to the rescue)—an anti-meet cute, if you will. (The second rape "under thrall" was completely gratuitous.) And as another reviewer already pointed out, the actual rape scenes were relatively brief and fairly light. (T...more

Okay where to begin?

This story is crazy as hell. photo melissa-eye-roll_zps27f112d5.gif I read some reviews before I downloaded this freebie and was determined to read it myself and make my own decision on whether it was a good story or not. I think it's pretty good. But let me first say before I start my review, that I do not agree with RAPE or marginal/forced consent sex, and those that choose to or have read this book without fully researching...more

This book is about RAPE! There are no redeaming qualities about any of it. The only reason I gave it 1 star is because you can't write a review without rating it. My actual rating is MINUS 5 STARS. I really regret not reading reviews before I started to read this. After the first DISGUSTING rape scene I thought I'd try to read on to see if the female lead gets any revenge but Nooooooooo. It just keeps happening over and over and over. I have read plenty of books containing sex and erotica and I...more

Adult/Erotic PNR. Non con/Dubious con. Rape scenes not involving main characters. Dubious con scenes with the main characters. Select audience shelf.

Has MFM (non con).
One consentual MFM scene very light involvement of the other male.

1st person POV.

Wholly Vamp Lords! I loved this messed up book!

I bought this book because it was free, labeled as "dark" and the man back on the cover is sexy. Great world building not a tease even though it's a short, just enough to grasp the concept of the fk****...more

I quite enjoyed this sexy short story. This is the first book in what promises to be an exciting series. The "Reaper's" are vampires who are sent out to search for the "Druid Breeders", and bring them back to their fellow vampires to create the children they need to continue their race. The Druid Breeders are women who have the Druid blood type that gives them the ability to reproduce for the vampires. These woman are very hard to find, and even rarer are the Druids who are full blooded; born of...more

I need to put the Author's Note first:

"**Note from the author: a qualifier has been in place from the beginning so readers may make an educated choice prior to the download of this erotic story. After receiving thirteen, one-star reviews in which the reader chose a story that did not suit their taste, I elected to bold the key wording in my initial warning. Further: TDB novella series is an erotic-driven romance. This means that the sexual context of the story is primary and the romance is secon...more

Hmm, what to say, what to say.

Ok, this is a rather weird story and I would find it hard to recommend to anyone due its contents. There were rather graphic rape and molestation scenes throughout which were quite difficult to read. I'm no prude by any means but I find the very blasé attitude by the main protagonist regarding the abuse she sees and endures to be more disturbing that the violent acts themselves. Rachel, the protagonist, seems far too relaxed and accepting in some scenes and I just c...more

Yes there's rape here. This is ultimately a rape fantasy, which is very much a genre. I can go into the various reasons as to why perfectly normal people write and read this stuff (and no, it's not because they endorse rape or find real rape exciting or titillating), but ultimately I want to stress that most of the crowd of this genre, the vast majority of them, view it as a form of escapism.

That said, I'll openly say that while I'm not a reader of rape erotica, I've read worse and more violent...more

My Thoughts
So this was a freebie on amazon and I decided to pick it up and read it. I was a little wary since the stars were low, but I’m glad I never care about the star ranking. In the end I loved the story beside yelling at their cavemen thoughts. “You women, you stay here.” Yeah if I yell at a book it means I like it. ;)

omg wow!!! i love love love this book. i am not one for short stories, but i am hooked. i will be buying the rest of the 8 books in the series. there is a cliff hanger ending, but it is amazing!!!

this book is about a girl named rachel who never dates. she goes to work as always and then home with her cat and a great book. her best friend michelle also works at the same place with her and she is a slut.

Loved the book! Must. Have. More.

Unsolved murders and rapes have been happening in Alaska. One fateful night, as she is heading to the car to see if her friend is there, she sees her friend being sexually brutalized by 2 men in the back seat of the car. When she tries to intervene, she is slung into the front seat by another unknown man as he attempts to assault her too. As she is fighting this man, the driver side door is ripped off the car and a huge, hulk of a man proceeds to lay waste to th...more

This tale was well-written. There were a few editing errors, but in general the story flowed nicely with no major problems. I won't say I loved it, but that's a personal preference, not any mark against the writer. I have issues with rape scenes, and these were rather explicit, but if you read the disclaimers you know that going in.

I did enjoy the storyline- a woman with a unique, much-desired blood line is sought after by two opposing signs to become a breeder- whether she wants to or not. She...more

You won't come out of this read in a good state of mind if you are someone that can't handle the taboo. Rape isn't right, we all know it but its depicted in many genres, in many ways. While the ways in this book were a little extreme, it's a book.... fantasy, not real life. It's a whole different take on the vampire theme but because they are violent & not all suave & sexy about it that makes this worse than the others? It's what vampires do in many depictions, most just try to appeal to...more

For a while now I haven’t been reading much due to work and classes, I need to take for my certification. I just could not find time to get the reading in. While at a gathering with my girls I felt so left out of the book conversations because I was so behind on my reading. I decided this weekend I would pick my kindle up and get back in to the rhythm of enjoying my hobby. I started off by reading short erotic stories and once I completed them I was in a rut to figure out what I would read next....more

Well, im really into paranormal stories like this with a mix of hot steamy scenes....

I liked the personality of Rachel. Her quirkiness and the way she speaks and talks with the vampires. It was kinda hilarious when she inserts some sarcasm which the vampires do not understand.

But there are really main glitches around this story.
It has too many run arounds. Some scenes are way too fast to be laid out (though its a short story). It seems that everything that happens in the story was told too fast,...more

I liked Rachel's character who goes from being the boring office girl to a desired breeder that has hoards of vampires (and some human males) excited to bang her with or without her permission. In fact there wasn't any permission in this novella. So if that is a shock to you or you have a problem with rape fantasy, leave this alone.

This went from 5 stars, to 4, to 3 by the time i reached the ending. I start every book with 5 stars. It became a 4 because while the premise for the story was good i...more

Terrible.

The writing is awful, the story is pitiful, this book it terrible.

The premise, as always, seemed pretty neat (thus why I got this), but it was horribly delivered and ended up a waste in the hands of a bad author.

I don't complain about the story because of the rape and what not. I already knew it would have such.
I like dub-con/non-con, and I can deal with full out rape as drama material. When it comes to that, I shall only briefly mention the ever depressing fact that I find stories onl...more

This book turned my stomach. I don't necessarily have a problem with noncon fantasy, but in the case of this series (I also read about half of the second story) the rape is all of innocent bystanders. It's prettied up for the "pure" heroine, who gets chased/rescued by protective rapists who save her from the really bad rapists, but the slutty women just get what's coming to them. The rapes are also written with an emphasis on the men getting off. To me, all this makes it porn, not erotica.

It's...more

I love a good erotic story, especially a vampire story. The kindle was free so I jumped at the opportunity to check out a sexy new series. Wow, was I disappointed. The entire book is about rape or avoiding rape. The vampires are weird kidnapping rapists. I felt nothing for any of the characters except pity for the raped friend. There were not any likable characters at all. Then the book ends, hoping that you'll be racing to buy book two to find out what happens next. Too bad I didn't care. I ass...more

Before writing my review and personal opinion I would like to point out that the author DOES STATE the graphic nature of this book, I'd also like to say that I started reading with the impression, based on the stars, that is wasn't going to be very good. BUT I WAS SURPIRSED.

YES there are graphic scenes of rape and abuse, however, there is still a story attached to it all. A very intriguing and gripping story. This is NOT an easy read and may make those a little squeamish uncomfortable.

But it is...more

Freebie from Amazon!!! Fast paced, vampires a dying race finding Druid women to continue their race and protecting them from the rogues, but the vampire leader seems set in his ways to deal with their breeding program regardless to the feelings of others.

I loved it!

Reapers had me hook, line & sinker!!
Yes there are some uncomfortable and confronting scenes, but you're pre-warned, so you deal with it or you don't read it! But you're missing out if you don't!
Marata has an amazing way of introducing you to the characters, so you feel like you know them personally. Her detailed descriptions leave you fanning your self, and reading on and on for more!

Smart author! She left us hanging so we would have to read the second novella to find out what happens with Rebecca or Cole or Zach. Hard to tell the way this psychotic story is going. Short novella not necessarily worth the few hours it took to read but because my curiosity gets the best of me, I want to see what happens. We'll see if I continue on pass Bled! Course it's going to have to get much better because I'm not feeling that whole rape, helplessness vibe. I like strong women so something...more

3.5 Stars Updated review 11/26 (after completing the rest of the books)I think after the first two books I read, it all finally clicked, I got where the author was coming from and totally took the book and story for what it was worth. If you are unable to remove yourself from what is "socially correct" than this book is so not for you. As the author mentions: **This book is intended for an adult audience and contains marginal consent, multiple partners, forced breeding, vampire sex, and oral pla...more

Summary
Reapers by Marata Eros claims to be a novella in a new sub genre called “Vampire Breeding Erotica”. As far as I can tell it's Vampire Teasing Not Quite Erotica. The only sex is two quick, early rapes between throw away characters. Every time the main characters get close to the money shot, something inane stops them. The book feels like a tease to buy the next and the next and then the next installments. Reapers has a good hook, but not enough to get me to pay $2.99 for every 70 pages.

I am giving this novella 3 stars (meaning it was good, but not great). It also had a ginormous (and I mean GINORMOUS) cliff hanger, which aren't my favorite. You can have an on-going story line, but I need some resolution at the end of each book.

There is a pretty graphic rape scene at the beginning. And while this in and of itself didn't bother me, the heroine's reaction to it was odd and a little off. It didn't seem to be that big of a deal. However, soon the heroine has her own issues to deal...more

I'm really not sure how I feel about this one. I didn't like some of the things that happened (the actions of the vampire leader, the way none of the other breeders attempted to help Rachel, the way the vampires allowed women to be raped without interfering) but I get the feeling that some of those issues will be addressed in a later book. But... but but but they weren't addressed here and the whole vampire culture is leaving me a little squicked out. I have the confusion, guys. I just don't kno...more
