This book is a fantastic romance! The writing was great and the book was believable (mostly). I felt a wide range of emotions while reading from happiness to anger to laughing to sadness.
I loved everyone in the book. I think Cali was my favorite with her sarcastic humor. Her banter with Novalee was hilarious and upbeat just like you would be with a friend/ family. Dean was someone you wanted to hate for all the lies but you couldn't you just felt as bad about the situation as he did. I wanted t...more

I was given an ARC of this book by NetGalley. Vegas + secrets + lies = I'm in.
The Pros:
This book was heartwarming. Novalee is just so sweet. She's been handed a rough deck of cards in her life, but she's made it out on top.
Dean's progression from miserable drunk to heartthrob was a fun ride to be on. His love for someone he barely knows (even though she's his wife) was confusing yet romantic at the same time.
The fact that they stayed faithful t...more

"She didn’t have to look to know his eyes were now on her legs, probably drifting up to where her skirt ended just above her knee."
So, the night before she wore a skirt.

I admire how Miss Jennifer Schmidt gave the two main protagonists the chemistry that they share. Novalee and Dean just make you melt with their romance. I love their interactions because it’s funny, giddy and at times emotional. I also loved the way Miss Jennifer wrote the friendship of Novalee and Cali, they’re so fun to read. The book was written in Novalee’s and Dean’s points of view. I was amazed at how Miss Jennifer...more

Last Call by Jennifer Schmidt is full of love, lies, heartbreak and humor. The hero’s are hilarious; the villains are ruthless. It’s a sexy adult romance, and it’s so freaking cute too. Wow, talk about some heat between the two main characters, Dean and Novalee. You can feel the connection and sexual tension radiating off the pages.

I've had this one on the kindle for a while now and after reading it, I'm sad that I waited so long! Now, I've never been to Vegas, but I've heard of some pretty crazy things happening there. Last Call starts out in Vegas and in this case....what happens in Vegas, can majorly impact the characters lives forever!
I really liked Novalee. She's funny, sweet, and sensible. Novalee has scars from her past and it isn't easy for her to open up to guys. However, Dean is just the right guy for her. He has...more

I am always looking for fun, interesting and unique contemporary books. For some reason, unique plotlines are a lot harder to come by in contemporary books. (at least the in the ones I have been reading- leave me suggestions if you think I am flat our wrong)Last Call, however, was pretty unique and certainly a fun read.

Last Call is an utterly un-put-downable contemporary romance full of more passion, emotion, creativity and moments that leave you breathless than I actually thought possible in a single novel.

You know when you find a new author, read one of their books and love it so much you need to find others by them only to be completely disappointed because it didn’t live up to the expectations you set from the previous book your read?
Let me assure you Last Call is nothing like that. This was Schmidt’s debut novel and it’s just as hot as her recent release Risking It All. The only reason I have this 4 instead of 5 stars was because it took me a little longer to get int...more

Intoxicating, addictive, utterly enthralling and touching are just a few superlatives I believe any reader would use to describe the brilliance of Last Call by Jennifer Schmidt.
Immediately, sentence one of the prologue will have you inching toward your screen, Kindle, iPad, or novel as if you were watching your favorite motion picture or television series.
With enough twist and turns to make your head spin, Jennifer Schmidt brings to life her novel with not only an original plotline, but vivaciou...more

The idea of a Vegas wedding to a stranger intrigued me enough to want to read this novel right away. Novalee and Dean couldn't be from two more different worlds. Wealthy hotel mogul legacy vs small town hardware store owner's daughter. That in itself had me turning the pages.
I read this book in two days. Let me tell you, with all that I have going on in my life, that is quite a feat. I just couldn't stop. I kept telling myself they can never work out. How the hell can this possibly work? Dean wa...more

I have to admit, I laughed until I cried with this one. Once again another novel that is completely down to earth, even given the fact there is a millionaire involved. I was really happy and felt fulfilled by the time I finished this novel. It was one of those eats at your heart and fall in love novels, for me at least. Jennifer Schmidt is definitely doing something right and I can only look forward to the next novel she produces because I'll certainly be in line to grab it right up.
Last Call is a pleasant little escape from reality. Both characters were strong individuals who survived traumatic experiences in their lives and came out stronger as a result of them. Through this strength they are still flawed making them very believable characters. The plot fluctuates between flirty and fun, like the cover suggests, to serious and back again. The author teases you throughout the book by gradually revealing details. The more you read, the more secrets you learn making it hard...more
I really enjoyed this book, i like how it was written from both Novalee and Dean's POV. Novalee has had a rough life the small town girls goes on vacation to Las Vegas stepping out of her comfort zone and flirting with a very good looking man across the bar 'Dean'. what starts out as harmless flirting and banter turns into a foggy night for Novalee and a shocking discovery that she is married to the naked man in the bed. 2 years later Dean a successful business man rocks up in Novalee's bar. This is my first book by Jennifer Schmidt; I was impressed by both her extraordinary characters and incredible writing style. I am not sure how the author was able to put that much chemistry & deception into a single book without a warming label – but I am glad she did. This is a keeper!

Ever since learning to read, Jennifer’s always had a love for books. There’s hardly been a time since second grade that she didn’t have a book in her hand or close by. Her love for the written word soon inspired her to write her own stories. However, it wasn’t until she found an online writing community that she took the first step and, hiding behind a penname, posted her work. After some persuasi...more
