I was looking through my GoodReads shelves for books to purge, and came across a book that is no longer terribly useful to me. My husband and I got engaged in December 2010 and I must have picked this book up last summer, around June 2011. We'd been dating for over a year and engaged for six months by this point, and I don't seem to have found this book very helpful in the run up to our marriage, given that the only comment I made on it was around the 11% mark, where I wrote in a status update:

My college pastor recommended this book, and I'm always impressed when I hear Clayton King speak live, so I polished this book off.

12 Questions is refreshingly honest and convicting: Clayton packs the punch, and Charie the tact. I was unsure when I started this book since I'm not engaged. I didn't know if the points made would be applicable to me right now but after reading it I would definitely suggest this book to those who are engaged but also those who are single. I want to get married and am in the process of getting my life ready for that step. I liked the personal stories Clayton and Charie tell from their own marriage. They talk about the need to communicate with your future spouse about your expectations regard ...more

I was saved in May of this year, and God an myself have forgiven all of the sins I previously ha committed. Those will never disappear, but they have been forgiven and I am no longer the same person. I think that Charie and Clayton should have mentioned for the lists of what to run away from, that if those ...more

Simple book, simple style of writing. If you've never been intentional about dating this will ask some thought-provoking questions (more than twelve) about yourself and your possible spouse. It definitely gets better towards the second half. Keep on!
