A terrible life changing incident robbed Eve of her childhood and even in adulthood left her with nightmares and fears of certain events and places. When Eve has to return to Pine Creek to sort out her Grandmothers affairs after her death at the beginning of October, she knows she doesn’t want to still be hanging around there by the end of the month - Halloween.

Eve’s Nan’s next door neighbour, Trey Rainwater had promised Nan and her Lawyer that he would keep an eye on her and make sure she stick...more

Wow! What a great little Halloween read. Thank you so much Ms Kates & Goodreads for the free copy and the opportunity to read this.

Since I usually like to comment a bit on the characters in my reviews I will do that right up front. The ability to relate to or at least like characters is any book that I read very important to me. I liked Eve and Trey and their chemistry, but my favorite character was Eve’s best friend Gabrielle. She was great. I loved her funny antics and quirky personality.

I love that I have the privilege of reading this book during the fall season and Halloween, makes the spirit of the holiday so much more fun.

After only reading the first few chapters of Hallowed Eve and reading about the author, I’m a fan that will look forward to reading Suza Kates "Whispers of a Witch" and "Conviction of a Witch"!

Hallowed Eve is such an intriguing book, how appropriate the main character is named Eve Taylor.

Eve’s grandmother passes away and Eve returns for the funeral to find...more

I won a free copy of this book. I can't wait to receive it; looks interesting!
*update*
finished this book today and I must say there were some things I really liked about it and there were elements I didn't. it had a good storyline; I just wish we found out what had happened to Eve sooner in the book. There were some grammar errors that stood out to me..so those detracted a bit when I was in the "zone." Did not see who the killer was coming. I thought of several other people with never suspecting...more

I don't understand why this book received such positive reviews. I found the story to be boring, and times ridiculous. As for the characters, they were just flat. Eve in particular was just way too dramatic. I think she could have used some antidepressants to help keep her stable as she kept bopping back and forth between being sad and upset to being happy and all smiley. Shit, at times it felt like she was on a "Martha Stewart" high. Everything she did was just perfect. For someone who was kidn...more

An absolutely perfect read for Halloween (even though there are no paranormal aspects within), it kept the spooky feeling going without being to harsh and continued to keep my interest. Hallowed Eve is a wonderfully written romantic, spooky, mysterious and thrilling read that was full of twists and turns, surprises (both welcome and unwelcome) and even some laughs. Be ready to hold tight because once you start reading, you'll not be able to peel yourself from the pages until the very end. Even t...more

This book is a really good read and Suza Kates knows how to capture her audience's attention. This book is set in October, during Halloween. For Eve Taylor Halloween was the worst time in the year for her, especially in her home town of Pine Creek. Since Eve has been back in town she has met her new neighbor Trey Rainwater, who she falls in love with. Eve has also started receiving these little notes that are poems. She comes to realize that they are about people who are being murder, especially...more

I could kick myself for not reading this book sooner. I’ve had this book on my Kindle app for ages and having read it I can’t believe I waited so long.
I find it rare to find a really good thriller that’s full of suspense, romance and mystery. Having brought this at a very low price I definitely chose wisely!
Trey was delicious to read and I was rooting for Eve all the way. She wasn't needy or broken like some characters would be with a past like hers. She was likable with a realistic quality. I...more

Thanks Goodreads for another giveaway winner!

I was expecting more of a scary, horror story, and it turned out to be more of a love story with a little suspense and horror thrown in.

All in all - a really good book that was a quick read. I didn't want to put it down when I picked it up. Looking forward to more books by this author.

I received this book through the GoodReads First Reads giveaway. I really enjoyed this book. It was a quick read for me and was a nice compliment to my Halloween weekend. I enjoyed the characters and the plot of the book. There is a twist towards the end of the book that I didn't quite see coming and liked that element of surprise. Overall, I would highly recommend this book for any one looking for a quick, suspenseful read to get you in the Halloween spirit!

Won on Goodreads Firstreads givaway.
This was an enjoyable thriller with complexity in the characters and a creative plot. It was a bit untidy for a person who likes a lot of loose ends wrapped up (me). I also like the ability to solve the mystery with the information given in the book. It was impossible to rationally come to the correct conclusion with the information provided. That all being said it liked the book quite a bit. Because of the carnal nature of the romance, I am finding it difficu...more

1st of all, this was a Goodread's First Read. It was good. I really liked the characters and the story line. A couple of times I got disinterested and put the book down for a couple days, but I always came back to it because I wanted to know how it ended. When it did end, I was grateful that I never put it down for good. Horror-suspence with some love in it makes for a good book. I think what I most liked about this book is that it introduced me to Suza Kates. Im looking forward to reading more...more

I read this book again, and it's even better the second time! I love all the Halloween background and the characters are great. This is a relatively new author as far as I can tell, and I'm so excited that there will be more books coming in her witch's series.

My only question about this book is when does Gabrielle get her story? I caught that hint!!

I can’t remember a time when I didn’t love books, but two particular memories stay with me. As a young girl I picked up Little Women, read it straight through, and promptly turned to page one to start all over again. The next book I did that with was Mind Hunter by John Douglas, tales about profiling serial killers.

Thus a twisted romantic was born.

Throughout my teenage and young adult years, I rea...more
