Excerpt: "Boston," he mumbled. "I mean...he's like the man of my dreams! Why would I blow it? What if..." Boston continued to babble. "Boston," he said. The commanding sound of his voice caused Boston to cease in her prattling and look to him. "What?" she asked, somewhat grateful he'd interrupted her panic attack. He frowned and shook his head. "Shut up," he said. "You're...more

I got this free from Amazon.

I'm not even gonna say how excited I was to get a free kindle book from Mrs. McClure. What a treat. She has become a favorite author of mine because I know that every book by her is gonna be good. This one didn't disappoint.
Kiss in the Dark is not my favorite by McClure but I did really like the book. It will make for a great re-read. There was mystery, it was exciting and I did like the main squeeze. I also laughed my rear off.
McClure is so good at her craft. She cr...more

3/21--Loved it again this time around. I had forgotten the secret and was thinking it was something else.

(6-11)Boston has a "poisonous" friend and roommate and she has had enough. Her best friend's brother, Vance, is temporarily living with her, so once he leaves, Boston can move in. But...he's a hero and makes it possible for her to do so earlier than planned.

There a several things that I really loved about this story. I think everyone has had a poisonous friend--someone who brings us down--s...more

Okay, I take back what I said in my last MLM book review. She is still able to write good story lines, she just doesn't sometimes. In this book, it was quite good! So after reading the author's notes at the end of the book where she talks about how criticism hurts, I actually felt a little guilty for my review of Untethered. I know the authors read the reviews written here on Goodreads sometimes because I've had some of them reply to my comments before. Hopefully they won't take it too personall...more

First line:

""Boston!"

This is my first book to read of Marcia's and I think I'll read more. KISSING IN THE DARK was a good, clean romance with upstanding values.

Boston is a kind soul who gets walked on too much. She's in a poisonous relationship because she wanted to help someone. Boston has good friends who help her. Her best friend has an older brother, Vance, who gives her pep talks to build her up and get her away from the mean friend.

The characters are fun. They all have a bit of the storyli...more

Another great book my Marcia!! Since I've found out about her writing last year I find myself trying to buy and read every book Marcia has ever made!! Reading her books is like turning on your favorite chick flick, you always know what to expect. There will always be some laughing, some sad moments, a hot guy and some steamy scenes!! You finish with a smile on your face!!

Kiss in the Dark was a contemporary romance. To be honest, I prefer to read MLM books that are historical but I still was happ...more

I my frantic rush to put my hands on every single thing written by this author lately, my bff said to me last night, "Oh! Go buy the ebook Kiss in the Dark right now!" So I did of course, I mean she is my soul sister...I have to do what she says, (that will be the excuse I tell my husband who is freaking over the amount of money I'm spending on books lately) right?

This fun romance started off a little bit slow for me, though that could have been to overwhelming fatigue of my very tired brain, bu...more

I'm glad I finished this story because my opinion of it changed. I empathize with Boston and her tendency of being "too nice" to own her voice and be her own self-advocate at first. I have experienced this in my life and didn't like that about myself, so I changed it, which Boston ends up doing also.
I like how her relationship with Vance evolves, as well as the whole situation at Dempsey's party that spurned everything forward. I would like it to be longer since I am very curious about the I.O....more

This is another one that is new in print. For those in my local area I know the library has ordered a copy but it is in not in yet. I read it as an ebook and enjoyed it. It is a contemporary romance and I love how it really teaches you to follow your heart and not just what appears to be a good match for you. I believe you can love more than one person but that there is such a thing as soul mates and that has a deeper more meaningful connection. And boy oh boy do I understand what she means by t...more

Review:This book is so freaking cute! This is my first time reading anything by Marcia Lynn McClure but it definitely won't be my last.

The main character Boston is such a nice girl, probably too nice. She's so nice that the moment she thinks something even remotely mean she instantly feels guilty. She's that type of nice where it seems you could hit them with your car and they would forgive you. Usually that bothers me when a character is like that but...more

I'm disappointed to report I have finally found a bad Marcia McClure book. The characters are college graduates, building careers and buying homes yet they are playing kissing games like "spin the bottle" and "I Love You But..." where winners get 11 minutes of "make-out time" in the pantry? And, "oh my heck! The dialogue is so totally juvenile, like I can hardly read it (giggle)". The 2 stars are because, even if its really bad I just can't say I hate a McClure book!

The only thing wrong with this was it wasn't nearly long enough, since it's an e-book! I would love this to be an expanded story. I also can't hold it in my hands, which is what I love to do with Marcia's books. :) Delicious is all I have to say... Her characters remind me of people I know since it's set in our times, and I love how her men say things that my brothers would, always cracking me up. Good stuff...

If Boston ever wanted to learn how to kiss, it might as well be with her best friend's brother--Vance! Yep! He not only takes her breath away in the dark, but becomes her hero too. He reads her, and I thought it was great that in the end Boston could read him enough to learn the secret both he and his sister Danielle have been harboring for years. Fun read! The kissing games were VERY INTERESTING! Marcia who knew?!

I think I'm just a sap! I love reading McClure books. Sweet stories of romance. While I was reading, Tony kept asking me if all they did was kiss in the dark. At that point it it had happened once and I told him what I was reading and he seemed to approve of Vance kissing her before she went out on a date with another man. Again, just a cute story.

Marcia Lynn McClure is one of my favorite romance writers. I’ve loved everything I’ve read from her and this was no exception. It had everything you could want in a romance. Great characters (including a heart-fluttering hero), lots of sexual tension, great and often very funny dialog, and a HEA. Great romantic read!

Cute story!! Boston is in a bad 'relationship' with her roommate. She longs for an escape from the mean-spirited and verbally abusive Steph. That escape comes in the form of Vance, Boston's best friend's brother. As Vance and Boston begin to fall for eachother, both must overcome some personal obstacles holding them back from truly falling in love.

3 stars.
The story was cute. It was about our heroine Boston who fell in love with her best friend's brother Vance.
I didn't like that Boston was "too nice" and let people take advantage of her. Or that she needed help from Vance to stand up to her poisonous friend.
Also sometimes it felt that the dialogue was not appropriate for their age. (I remember Vance saying he needed band-aid for his ripped muscles.. ughhh...not funny at all)

I have to say first that maybe I am just PMSing and that is why I disliked this book so much.I don't like Contemporary romances in general either. I like McClure and feel baddley giving this only one star but I truly did not like this book. I could tell you all the ways but that would be mean. I did finish it.

This was such a cute read and didn't take me much time since I didn't want to put it down. It's a very clean romance that was still exciting. This is a story of not only about finding love, but also finding self confidence and figuring out who your true friends are. Definitely a great book that everyone would love.
Sandy
I hate to say it because I am a HUGE Marcia fan, but this book is more like a 2.5. The endearing cheese of a Marcia book works better with her historical settings. This is probably my least favorite Marcia book, but I will read anything she writes for those "Queen of Clean" kissing scenes. :)

Another great book.
I love that Marcia's books make me laugh out loud, giggle, sigh and never fail to leave me with a smile on my face when I'm done.
I love when she has author notes at the end. I do hope she expands this book as was mentioned in her author's note because I want to know about the I.O.U.!
Ah the memories this book brought back, how could I have forgotten the fun of playing kissing rugby?
I love the old fashioned values in her books and that her characters are good people.

I love Marcia and her books but I find the ones that are more modern time a little harder to read. They seem a little more on the cheesy side. This by no means is a bad book- it was a good and quick read bit not my favorite, and not one that I would read more than once.
Calli
Interestingly enough, of the McClure books I've read, this is the one I actually liked the most. I say that, because I usually prefer historical romance to contemporary, and this was the first contemporary of McClure's that I have read.

Marcia Lynn McClure books always make me happy. These short books she writes aren't ever my very favorite of hers, but I love them! They're just perfect for a quick dose of embarrassingly indulgent juicy romance...who doesn't love that!
Anita
I LOOOOOVED this ebook. I literally laughed outloud. I think the people suntanning with me in Kauai thought I was nuts. I don't care. It literally brought a smile to my face. Thanks Marcia for making my holiday even brighter.
Natalie
This was a wonderful "dessert book". It was sweet, fun, and romantic. It's nice to have an author that can be depended on to provide a dessert book when I'm in the mood for one. I just love Marcia Lynn McClure!

Oh my goodness! My favorite MLM book is Kissing Cousins, but I may have just changed my mind. This has a similar feel. I hope that she gets to expand this one soon! I can't wait to find out about the IOU! The one that apparently she doesn't know what it is yet... odd, huh? And Logan never called again, so it wasn't like where Poppy had to break up with Mark. And the "poisonous friend" is quickly taken care of with Vance Romance around! I love this book as is, but when it's time to get my own(as...more

Huckleberry Willis Clause? Loved it. This is a clean, sweet romance that totally made me smile. I love how the characters learn and grow. I look forward to seeing this become a full length novel.

Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Marcia Lynn McClure grew up influenced by the reminiscent stories of rugged, rural Colorado farm life fascinatingly recounted to her by her parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts…tales of runaway buckboards, mule-drawn plows and dust pneumonia; verbalized images of stream-flooded meadows, frozen over in winter, where a child could peer through the crystal clear ic...more
