This series is a bit on the strange side, but it is entertaining. My first thought is if you are homeless and a strange man you've just given assistance too asked you back to his home, the answer would be a resounding no. Nanami is a little on the naive side, though, and with no where else to go, follows him. She's been duped, however. Once she reaches the shrine, he abandons her and she is left with all his responsibilities as the local deity,or kami, of the shrine. She has also inherited his s...more

I gave some serious thought to linking to this song and these pages and calling this review a day. :D

Oh Tomoe. You know what is the great thing about shoujo with cool~ dignified~ heroes? When you get to the bit where their dignity falls to pieces because of feelings. :D No cool person should need Mizuki to explain to them the ~mysteries~ of actually liking a person.

The end of Volume 8 may have been a little sombre but I still enjoyed this book. The kami-conference stuff was getting old but I did love Suzuki's goofy takes on the Shinto deities. I wish that Nanami & Co. could have spent more time in the Land of Dead with Izanami; there was definitely some craziness going on there was those "Alice in Wonderland" costumes and doll houses - I hope we haven't seen the last of her! There wasn't too much in the way of progression in Nanami and Tomoe's relation...more

I really do look forward to this series the most with each new release, and this volume is no different.

Nanami finds herself in the land of the dead, but true to form, she does things her way and insists on helping a strange human (who we know to be Akura-O, an old acquaintance of Tomoe's). While Nanami may not have the same abilities of the other kami around her, her strength truly is her humanity. I think that this will enable her to do things that no supernatural kami could ever do, especiall...more

Well the god sumit turned out to be interesting, and I LOVE Otohiko, I can't stop myself from reading his parts in a funny voice, it's just hilarious. Things seem to be starting between Tomoe and Nanami, and those last chapters were full of awkwardness!
I'm still a little annoyed about Nanami saving that Kirihito guy! I mean he's going to be that really evil demon guy, who is probably going to have some really evil pan that involves a lot of massacres and death which no one is going to like.

I don't know where this series wants to go. Is the emphasis on Nanami dealing with her status as a human kami, or is it about her romance/not romance with Tomoe?
