I was looking for a book they would guide me in being proactive about my children's sex education and a friend recommended this to me. It turns out that there is two chapters on teaching children and the rest is about teaching yourself. It is by an LDS author, but would be fine for anyone, though she does assume in the first chapters that the reader is christian and familiar with scriptures. Much of the book help women to overcome the "good girl syndrome" which is overlooking all th...more

This book is fabulous. Fabulous! I have read a few LDS marriage/sex books over the years (Between Husband and Wife - blah!) and this one is so much better than all the rest. It is a great book for improving your marriage relationship in general, and especially in the bedroom. It's respectfully written (it's "clean" - no position illustrations etc.) but still very informative. And it is written from an LDS WOMAN'S perspective. It is written for women, and especially women who find...more

I didn't even read the whole book, but I really disliked it. Maybe it just put me off that the lady (who has no real expertise as far as I'm concerned) suggests that you have a sexual obligation to your spouse (meaning, to keep your spouse sexually fulfilled to keep them chaste). I just don't agree with that, and don't want to read a book by anyone who suggest such non-sense.

Praticial from about ch. 10 on.
Author is well-read, informed - but she needed a good editor: her writing is too lengthy. Still recommend it to engaged couples and anyone wanting fulfillment (not just physically) in their most important relationship.

How embarrassing that I'm adding a sex book to my goodreads list!!! I guess I'll start by telling you how I came across this book:
A friend of mine told me that she read a great book about strengthening marriage. She told me the title, and I put it on hold at the library somehow missing the Sexual Fulfillment part. When the book came in, I got my e-mail notice telling me so. The library gives us one week to pick up books, and I waited the whole week before I went to get it. To my surpr...more

I like this book because it was about how to improve your marriage in all areas, emotionally, spiritually, sexually, and it had some good reminders. Like to date, and hold hands, and do nice things for each other. Things we slack on after 8 years of marriage!
The downside was the book was so redundant. It could have been half the size. I actually skipped the last couple of chapters (teaching future generations). Just got "so over it." This book was well worth the time though i...more

So far, I've really been grateful to have found this book! Very clear and straightforward without me feeling like I need to censor anything. It's been nice to feel like I have a place I can go with questions without having to navigate the smut on the Internet. Gets beyond the textbook understanding of human sexual response and has been very enlightening for us with regard to the way women "tick".

This was a really excellent book! It deals with all aspects of marriage, particularly LDS or Christian marriage. It's not just about the sexual relationship in marriage, though that is a lot of it. It teaches you to create emotional oneness, and to develop the relationship between husband/wife/God. It also has several chapters on teaching correct sexual information to your children, which was the primary reason I picked it up. The other parts were an added bonus for me. It is pretty long, ...more

This book focused a little too much on women for me. Granted, SOME women really need books like this. But I think it's important to not only focus on the needs of women, but also the needs of men. This book focuses on "the good girl syndrome" where LDS girls have a hard time enjoying sex because they've been trained to think it's evil their whole lives. While it's important to grow past those feelings, I wish the book had focused more on other things. There's a lot more to problems in ...more

I hope I'm not embarrassing anyone here, but this book is just too darn good to not post.
A few months ago after I was newly called as the Enrichment Leader in my ward, we had a marriage enrichment and somehow in the process of planning it, this book was recommended to me through a few different people. Me being the Marriage, Family Therapist wanna-be I am (and one day hopefully will be), I thought I just had to see what this book was about. I've always been dissatisfied with most of the in...more

I love this book. I think that every man/woman/teacher/spouse/parent (you get the picture) everyone needs to read this book either with your spouse or have them read it after you. This is a wonderful tool to enhance your marriage but also to help teach children about the wonderful, beautiful side of sex that they don't always get to learn about when young. Too often all we tell our kids and the youth is that sex is bad. This book is clear, precise and too the point, yet very respectful and s...more

I thought this was a really good book. It wasn’t just a sex book but really was more about strengthening your whole marriage relationship and talked about how a lot of times sex problems are stemmed from other intimacy issues, whether they be emotional, spiritual, etc. Most of what I got out of this book was in the sections about “oneness,” and I kept finding myself totally agreeing with what I was reading. The parts about talking to your kids about sex were really good too. So, yeah. I re...more

This is a great book, especially for newly-weds. I am sure that most couples have all had questions or concerns about being intimate, that are just a little too personal to ask even the closest friend. That is were this book comes in. Written by an LDS Marriage and Family Therapist, it is very tastefully done, and references scriptures, quotes from church leaders, and the Family: A Proclamation to the World throughout, and yet it is very candid.

This book is a must read for every couple! Laura Brotherson eloquently and masterfully helps the reader to recognize what it takes to build a passionate and loving marriage that will last the eternities. She helps good women and men recognize what keeps them from enjoying the precious gift of sexual fulfillment with their eternal companion. She teaches husbands and wives how to build not only their physical, but emotional and spiritual intimacies and helps them realize if they do not learn to bl...more

Another great book for all couples to read together (see my review for "Between Husband and Wife.") Satan has taken the most beautiful and powerful gift that God has given a husband and wife and twisted it into something shallow and dirty. Don't let Satan win! This book will help strengthen the intimate bond that needs to be in every celestial marriage. It's never too late to make things better!

A friend let me borrow this and it has really been an interesting read. I'm glad I read it. It talks a lot about getting over the "Good Girl Syndrome." The author discusses how we are taught about sex in a negative way growing up so we won't try it early (before marriage), but then still have these negative thoughts and/or feelings attached to it even after we are married.
There's some great tips in the back on teaching your children too, which I think would be so helpful when our ...more

I'd heard this book was pretty controversial out West so of course, I wanted to read it. It is a very informative, helpful book about Christian relationships and the sexual powers we were given by our Father in Heaven. This book has really made me appreciate my body and realize that we must treat our sexuality in a different way than most LDS couples are taught to. There were a few new things I did not know and a lot of scriptural and prophetic references and quotes. This is my new wedding gift...more

I finally finished this book! It took me forever, because I have a difficult time with "self-improvement" books. One major problem with this book is that the author is incredibly redundant, which is a trait in writing that I cannot stand. It had good information, but I really believe it could have been half the size. The way it stands now, the book looks like a textbook. I do recommend the book, especially from chapter 9 and on. This book is more than a sex book, it is also a mar...more

This should be required reading for ALL married couples, no matter how long they've been married! It is written by an LDS woman. I am the first to admit I have always been very cynical about sex being only for men, but this book teaches how to make it fulfilling for women, too. There are many bonuses to reading it with your husband (you may just find him doing a little extra housework!) I really really recommend this book, and you'll probably want to buy it. I haven't finished it yet, but it ...more
