CATCHALL
I launched right into this book after reading Arson, not entirely sure what to expect. There's certainly another mix of danger and romance, although there's emphasis on suspense and it's more of an action novel than anything else. I definitely couldn't put it down once I picked it up and after two books I've grown attached to the characters and drawn in by the uniqueness of the plot.

What is it going to be like for Emery and Arson? In this second installment of the Arson series, it starts with Emery and Arson after they were taken to Salvation Asylum. This is the place where they want to experiment on them to find out what makes them be able to do the supernatural things they can do. They aren’t the only “lab rats” there. There is Adam and he isn’t very happy with how things are going. Emery and Arson both are having trouble remembering things. They wake up hazy and drugged...more

Cover Thoughts-
I love it! It has Emery's mask and Arson's subject number 219 all burned and creepy looking and I can't help but shiver. It fits perfectly.
First Thought-
Okay. So I read the first one. Emery and Arson are kidnapped. What happens now?
What I liked-
The whole book is completely different from the first one. If Arson is a gentle blowing tumbleweed of emotion, then Ashes is a volcanic eruption! So many things happened that I didn't see coming. Some new characters were introduced like Ada...more

Ashes left me... speechless.
It also left me with my heart pounding out of my chest, and my hand slightly shaking while I closed it and took a deep breath.
Now, I know all of that sounds really cliche, but it really was that good.
And my only question is; What is going on in your head, Estevan Vega??
Seriously.
I don't think I have read a book that has disturbed me as much as Ashes did.
Which is totally a good thing, because I've been searching and searching for a book that completely freaks me out an...more

Amazing darkness, amazing humanity, simply - amazing. Ashes is a story that will brand itself upon your mind and burn there for a very long time.
I truly fell in love with Estevan and his writing from the moment I read his first release The Sacred Sin. His writing voice reminded me of an early Stephen King or Dean Koontz. Mr. Vega's storytelling goes to places many fear to tread and in turn creates an amazing story. Ashes is by no means an exception. Continuing on where Arson left off, readers di...more

The second installment to the Arson trilogy is AMAZING! The author does a wonderful job continuing the action packed, and suspenseful story. I just want to say OMG! The story is left on a cliffhanger. I'm left wanting more and trying to think about what is going to happen. You will fall in love with the characters and be waiting anxiously for the last installment! This book contains romance, action, suspense, horror, and mixed with some...more

ASHES, by Estevan Vega, is the thrilling sequel to the Arson series that will keep your eyes and hands glued to the pages. We pick up right where Arson left off, where Arson and Emery are trapped in a strange facility that seems to be doing experiments on supernatural occurrences in humans. Along with following Arson and Emery's stories, Vega artfully jumps from character to character to give the reader a wide look on this phenomenal and unique story.

This book total blew me away. While the first book was really a set up for this Ashes, Ashes gave me a whole new reading experience! The plot line, new characters, and a great back round history that left me begging for more.
One thing I enjoy in books is the back round history to the characters. In Arson, the reader got bits and pieces of Arson's past but not really a full explanation. Ashes, gave the reader the history I was dying to know. Who where Arson's parent? How did he come by this abili...more
AAAAAHHHHHHH!!! I FRELLING LOVE THIS BOOK!
I loved Arson! I thought that book was absolutely amazing and brilliant.
Ashes is…OMW! Words fail me right now. Literally. I’m just dumbfounded and amazed by this book. It’s soooooo incredible!
Okay, so I was suckered into the book by the cover! This happens a lot. I thought the cover to Arson was just frelling gorgeous and I just had to have it. Reading it to discover what a fantastically dark, intriguing world resided inside was fatabulous!

Let me start out with a simple statement. I liked Arson, but I loved Ashes. Loved it so much that I devoured it from cover to cover in a matter of hours. To those of you who might have started on Arson Gable's journey, but haven't yet had a chance to dive into this book, hurry up and snag a copy! Once again the driving force of this book is the darkness that is inside people. Arson and Emery each battle the internal voices that are driving them mad. Bad. Good. The lines are so blurred now it's a...more

'Ashes' is the second book in the Arson trilogy. It continues telling the story of Arson after he and Emery were separated. Now Salvation Asylum has taken them for dark and unknown reasons - something to do with genetically altering mankind. After all the experiments he was put through, Arson has become the most valuable piece of scientific evidence that these crazy people have - and they intend to use him to put their devious plans into motion. Arson will discover who he really is and...more

As sorta-predictable and skip-tempting as I found the first book, this sequel simply rocked. This one definitvely gave more answers then it asked questions, which I am very thankful for, but the show's not over yet. There's still more to come, and I'm looking forward to it!
I liked the plot development, it had all the right twists and edges of a good conspiracy. Some might say predictable, but I plainly enjoyed it -- immensly. I would've never guessed that things would go like this, or that the c...more

built in "Arson", "Ashes" is the book in which Arson and Ember find their fight. This is also the book that fills in a great deal of the character development for both Ember and Arson; as they grow and change. This is also the book where readers get to meet Adam. He is a new character who promises to help Ember out of The Asylum.

Locked away with little or no hope of escaping both Arson and Emery are trapped in an asylum that has them questioning their sanity. Is any of it real? And is there any hope that either of them will see each other again? As Arson discovers more fully who he is and what he’s meant for his story becomes one that could affect not only his small family and Emery, but the world as well.

Ashes will introduce you to new characters and unimaginable adventure. From the first few pages, you will be immersed in Arson's world as you learn about his past and speculate what it could mean for his future. Just like book one, the story is told through the eyes of many of the characters. There was a character or two whose perspective didn't really add much to the story for me, but I did enjoy seeing things unfold through the different point of views. The changing perspectives and unexpected...more
Arson is based on a teenage boy named Arson who has this power to make fire with his hands, and he is unsure of where it came from, or how to control it. It goes through a bit on his past history in regards to what has happened to his parents, and gives you insight on who he lives with now, and what that is like for him. In my take on the book it is not until a girl named Emery moves in next door that he begins to think that possibly he has found someone that could be his friend (or possible boy...more

It’s funny how all these characters are connected in some form or another. It blows my mind. But it makes for an amazing story. I really enjoyed the first book, ARSON but I absolutely loved ASHES.
This book starts off with a bang, though, not literally. The first chapter has you cringing all the way through it. It’s a great way to grab the reader’s attention. It gives you a feel for what’s to come throughout the whole book.

If you've followed my reviews for the past few months, then you know how much I loved Arson. And when I thought that there was no way to improve on such an amazing story, Vega has decided to go and prove me wrong in Ashes. It's darker, grittier and so much more than what I expected it to be. Plus, it had just enough detail and reference to Arson that it was a slice of cake to delve right back into Arson's world.

This book was packed with action and of course great characters! I mean I don't understand how the story can get any better! I was so anxious to see how Emery's and Arson's relationship flourished after being kidnapped. The new characters were also a great added bonus! They all had there ticks and tocks. This trilogy is one that is going to be one that I will definitely recommend everyone reads. Not only is this book packed with action but it is also a very emotional and heart grabbing read.

I’m a writer. Well, technically an author, because they say that you magically become an author (i.e. true creative) if you’ve published something, and you’re a writer if you haven’t (you know those closet aspiring geniuses who just scribble stuff into notebooks and hide it from the world?). But I still call myself a writer. I’m one of 4 brothers. The middle son. I guess that’s supposed to make me...more
