Tucked away in Sofie's wintery asylum with no hope of release for years, Evangeline must come to terms with her situation: the curse still plagues her, she's now hunted by a
two thousand-year-old vampire, and the guy she's in love with tried to kill her.
Plus, she's locked up with a cranky Max and the Forero kids—two people everyone
seems to prefer dead over alive. Things...more

I was a beta reader for Asylum (Causal Enchantment #2) a few months back, and the book is simply AMAZING!

I loved, and I mean I ABSOLUTELY LOVED, K.A.’s first book, Anathema (Causal Enchantment #1), and I didn't want to wait even a single day longer than necessary to start her next book, Asylum, but it wasn’t even close to being published!!! So, when K. A. Tucker asked me to be a beta reader for Asylum, I was absolutely thrilled! And she didn't disappoint me ONE BIT! I think I can honestly say th...more

**THERE ARE SPOILERS FOR ANATHEMA IN THIS REVIEW**

I could not wait to start this book and I was torn between wanting to draw it out and savor it and finishing it as quickly as I possibly could.

Asylum picks up directly where Anathema left off, with Evangeline attempting to bring her friends from Ratheus over, along with about a hundred other vampires who had touched the portal at some point, and Sofie sending her to a remote location for her safety. The book then splits into two points of view--...more

I received this book from the author. Here is my honest review:

Man I enjoyed this book! I loved the first one, and I really loved this one too. Evangeline's journey gets more interesting as she's hidden in the middle of nowhere with Leo, Max, and the Forero siblings. Sofie is trying to hold down the fort in NYC with all the vamps that came over from Ratheus, plus Viggo and Mortimer. Told from Sofie's and Evangeline's POV, Asylum picks up right where Anathema left of...more

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Ok, now that I got that out... once again, I'm torn at the end, waiting for the story to continue. I love this series. I started book 2 thinking I knew where it was going. I was wrong! In fact, every time I guessed at what would happen, I was wrong. It was unpredictable all the way through. As annoyed as I was with Evangeline's naive-ness (word?), I felt like I'd have done the same things in her position. I could definitely relate to her and, as a mother,...more

I had so many ideas of what was going to happen during the end, so many twists that would just ruin the story and make me curl up in a ball and be depressed for weeks. But thankfully, Tucker is an awesome author and could guess that she would be sending her readings into a depressing state, so she made a semi-happy maybe cliff-hanger ending.

Yes, today's GIF's are going to be dedicated to Madea. She is just so freaking funny.

Anyway, back to the story. A few times Evangeline wo...more

I can't help but wonder if part of Evangeline's curse involves loose lips and making "in the moment" decisions. She really knows how to make a bad situation a million times worse. Wait until Viggo and Mortimor find out. She's as good as dead. Sofie will likely be pissed if she keeps this a secret for too long. Now Veronique is truly in danger. I understand why she did it. Who wouldn't want their curse lifted? But seriously, she fucked up.

At least that god awful bitch is gone. Good riddance to t...more

SPOILERS - So the book picks up with the fact that Sofie sent Evangeline, Max, Leo, Julian, and Valentina (didn't see that coming either) to a Siberia hideaway, after Caden nearly killed Evangeline once they returned from Ratheus.

Evangeline learns Leo is actually a wizard who was working with Sofie and that Sofie has been watching her her whole life and actually truly cares for her. She is introduced to werewolves who are there to help Leo in payment to a debt to Sofie. Eventually, Eve and Julia...more

Ack! You guys, I'm at a loss. How do I write my review without revealing spoilers, especially for those who haven't read book one, Anathema?!? I'll try not to give away anything you couldn't deduce by reading the synopsis. This is a tough one, but I'll do my best.

Asylum, thankfully, picks up immediately where Anathema left off. Chaos has ensued. Evangeline, along with Max and Leo, have been whisked away to a snowbound hideaway to protect her from the vampires who want to kill her, including the...more

It's official, I'm in love with the Casual Enchantment series! Everything about the first book was perfect and now the second book was amazing! K.A. Tucker did not disappoint! Also, a little side note about the covers, I really love how they're all about something that happened in the book!

In this book, Caden and Evangeline were separated because Caden needed to control his vampire self while near human blood. While I was eager to read this book, I was hesitant to read about Caden and Evangeline...more

(Note: I tried not to share any spoilers. I do reference the first book Anathema. I would hate to ruin this book for you. It is a very good story to read.) I received this book as an E-ARC from the author, I was very lucky to win it as part of a contest.

This is the second book in KA Tucker’s Casual Enhancement series. And all I can say to is hold on tight because this takes you for one heck of ride.

This story picks up right where Anathema stops. Evangeline is learning to deal with her new surrou...more

Asylum --book two in the Casual Enchantment series-- continues Evangeline's journey trying to break a curse that would be the end of her. Not only does she have to deal with a curse, she's being hunted by a thousand year old vampire, and the man she falls in love with can't control his blood lust and tries to kill her.

The concepts evolving in this series keep growing. Kathleen has introduced many characters and creatures that we are sure we'll learn more about in the final book in the series.

Oh my, I could NOT get my hands on this book fast enough! I read the first one in a day (well more like one night) and the next morning I was going crazy trying to get this one! Ahhh what to say without giving away hints?

Oh man I cant even collect my thoughts to write what I liked about this book.

Can I just say I love Sofie! I loved Mage, I loved every character...well not everyone. But I feel like each character was so well defined! I thought I really liked Eve, but after reading the 2nd book...more

There are unavoidable spoilers for book 1, Anathema in this review)

Asylum is book 2 in the Casual Enchantment series; the first being Anathema. Asylum picks immediately after the events of book 1, Anathema. Evangeline along with Max, Leo the two Forero kids (though they are not actually children as in under the age of 18) and a few servants are safely in seclusion in a cabin. I have to say that if I ever had to go into hiding, I can think of worse ways to spend my time. The cabin and its surrou...more

REVIEW:
Asylum picks up where K.A. Tuckers first novel Anathema left off. The young Evangeline along with her trusty companion Max and her friend Leo are sent off to another hidden location away from the chaos of vampires, who want to harm her. The hardest part for Evangeline is that one of the vampires that would harm her is her true love Caden. Separated now from her fri...more

I am hooked on this series, so many different stories woven together and one twist after another. There was more action and magic in this second book and setting the scene for book 3 with the war imploding on the scene in New York. There was minimal romance but considering the distance it was understandable as Evangeline is hidden away for most of the book for her safety and Caden has to overcome his bloodlust. The ending just set us up with more questions than answers and I am looking forward t...more

While I was given an E-ARC of this book by the author for review, I purchased and reviewed the first book in The Casual Enchantment Series on my own. I fell in love with the story line and characters in the first book and couldn't wait for the Asylum's release.

I have to say, I certainly wasn't disappointed this time around either. The story was genius and left me wanting so much more in the end. The characters within the pages are the sort that you don't easily forget and certainly don't want to...more

Asylum leaves you more invested in the characters than the first book, Anathema. Especially since half the story is told from Sofie's perspective(which I loved). Once again the book is riddled with twists that you weren't expecting, that leave you frantically reading to see what the outcome may be. Tucker has a way of pouring the emotions into her characters that makes you feel it(from all angles). This is definitely not a typical vampire book, the Casual Enchantment series is way, way more than...more

In the second book of the Causal Enchantment series, it literally starts right where the last one ending… flipping between Sofie’s version and Evangeline’s version.
So much happens within the first few pages of this book, I was SHOCKED by Cadan’s callous attitude, I figured he was lying, but he was just so GOOD at lying that for quite a while I actually believed him when he said he did whatever he had to in order to get out of Ratheus.
We also get to meet Mage in this book, and I actually really...more

Favorite Quote(s):

"Our eyes locked. I saw Caden's eyes. The stunning green eyes I remembered, the eyes I thought I had lost forever. In that one look, eyery ounce of doubt, every moment of fear, every horrific memory washed away."
Favorite Character: Caden again!
First Line:

"'Forgive me,' I whispered, knowing my words would never reach her ears."
My Musings: Asylum was a great new installment in the Casual Enchantment series. In this novel, we learn more about the vampires, the curse, and...more

After epic ending of Anathema, I started 2nd book immediately because I needed to know what woul happen to characters.
"Am I stupid? For believing them?"
Leo chuckled softly. "No, my dear Evangeline. You are far from stupid. Naive, absolutely. But it's born out of an enormous heart and an enduring need to believe the best of people. Not stupidity."

I was surprised that after everything Evangeline went through and found out in previous book, she stayed the same sweet and trusting girl. Her naivety...more

Sara's Review from What the Cat Read (http://whatthecatread.wordpress.com)

Tucker has done it again! Asylum is one of those books I didn’t want to put down because of everything that was happening within the story. This book is filled with claw biting excitement, heart-break, and mystery. If you haven’t read the first book of this series, then I suggest you do so as soon as possible because Asylum picks up right after the events in Anathema.

Unlike Anathema which is told entirely from Evangeline’s...more

I am seriously sick of Ever. Oops! I mean Evangeline. I'm getting her confused with her slightly more annoying twin from the Immortals Series see:Evermore by Alyson Noel. Or rather, maybe don't. Do ya authors conference together to see who can make a lamer lead character? Why why why are they always so ignorant. Why do they always think and say and do the dumbest things...even while thinking- boy so and so wouldn't want me to do this. Why do they trust people they know nothing about and just onl...more

Absolutely excited to be on the blog tour and review Asylum. Anathema was my 2nd review to ever write, the first for my blog. *Please don't go read it, I am sure it was horrible, although the book was wonderful* But I remember when I finished Anathema how I could not wait for this next book to be out. I was dying of anticipation; wondering what would happen to my favorite characters whose lives were left hanging in the balance. And let me tell you, K.A. Tucker has done it again. She, like I have...more

First Thought: I still want to punch Viggo in the damn face!

After finishing Anathema I, every so patiently, hounded K.A. until I knew when Asylum would be out! There was just something about Anathema that grabbed a hold of me and didn't let go until the end. It was such a breath of fresh air when it came to vampires & I've never seen someone mesh current day with dystopia quiet the way she did.

After the mind-blowing ending in Anathema I was expecting HUGE things in Asylum....and boy was I di...more

I found the first one better than this one but it was still good enough to finish. I thought it was a little slow but an easy-read and no love triangle. I love triangle as much as the next person. Ok scratch that I hate love triangles. Mostly because they always have me biting my nails until I feel that I'll die if I don't know who the heroine chose. But luckily this had no love triangles. SPOILERS BEWARE: I was a bit saddend by the loss Fiona but that's probably the only bad thing

Asylum picks up where Anathema left us and man, so many things happen during this book that I am sitting here shaking my head wondering "when will I get my hands on the next one?"....
Evangeline is such a great character that you love reading about her. Also in this book, we have alternating POVs and are allowed the chance to know more about Sofie. It is so amazing to learn all that she has done for the events to come to where they are in Asylum. Plus, all the other little secrets that come out d...more

I literally could not put this down, well, except for when I spilled soup on my iPad. I don't think I'll ever be able to formulate a coherent thought about this book, so do me and yourself a favor and just read it. It makes Anathema seem almost boring...almost. Now the hard part will be waiting another year to finally see how this all plays out. That and getting matzo out of my iPad case...

Born in small-town Ontario, Kathleen published her first book at the age of six with the help of her elementary school librarian and a box of crayons.

She is a voracious reader and the farthest thing from a genre-snob, loving everything from High Fantasy to Chick Lit.

Kathleen currently resides in a quaint small town outside of Toronto with her husband, two beautiful girls, and an exhausting brood...more
