Sometimes, the hardest part of finding love is keeping a straight face…

For Jamie Newman, being a single guy isn’t proving to be much fun, especially when confronted with a sexually belligerent divorcee and a goddess so far out of his league she might as well be a different species.

Mind you, being a girl in search of love isn’t a bowl of cherries either. Just ask Laura McIn...more

Do not attempt to read this book:

1) In bed with somebody who is trying to sleep next to you or in bed if you have cats who try to sleep on top of you when you read
3) Are in a public place. On a train, in a waiting room or at work? Forget it
4) If you can not laugh at sex and or poop

Do read this book if:

1) You don't mind laughing out loud more than once (please note you may also have a few full on belly laughs, hence the reason the cats were not happy about me disturbing their sleep)
2) You have a...more

I grabbed this book because it was cheap on Amazon. In the beginning I wasn't particularly engaged with the story but I'm glad I kept going. There were several points where I actually laughed out loud. I can't tell the last time a book has made me laugh out loud - in public no less!
This is not literary genius and there are editing misses. However, this is a very entertaining read and a cute story. I will happily read the sequel.

A nice easy read.

For the first few chapter the 'laugh out loud' tag line was spot on. As the book goes on its not so laugh out loud, but its likeable, and a nice easy read. I guess it would be described as an airport trash book.

Jaimie and Laura record their separate adventures on the dating scene as they try to find someone they can spend their lives with. For singles in their late 20's, I think this hapless couple's feelings as they stagger gamefully on to the next disaster will probably stir some uncomfortable memories.....

The beginning is so obviously written by a man - it makes unfomfortable reading at times, rather than funny.Perhaps my discomfort is a woman thing.... But when Laura and Jamie meet, it becomes hila...more

Bloody brilliant. Perfect banter and inner dialogue. This book is written exactly how women and men (from what I've ascertained by asking) think. I was laughing out loud during every chapter and equally looked forward to hearing from Laura as I did Jamie!

If you want a fun read then this is the book for you!

This book... Where do I start? This book made me laugh SO hard! I laughed so hard, people around me in the DMV felt the need to move seats to get further away from me. It was that funny. I cried. Read it.

Letto grazie all'offerta kindle di San Valentino di Amazon.it. Per fortuna è breve e...more

having just purchased my kindle, I was looking through what books were available for free or at a low price, and came across this one. I dont usually go for books written by blokes but thought I would give it a go. Started reading it when the England match was on TV, and I was banished to the kitchen because I was laughing out loud so much that my husband couldnt concentrate on the commentary on the TV. Then in the kitchen, my son was watching something else and he also didnt appreciate my const...more

I enjoyed this book. It isn't deep and meaningful, and it isn't a page turning thriller. But it is very funny. I do most of my reading on my commute, and this book caused me to actually laugh out loud a number of times - something you won't often see a London Underground commuter do! Anyone who has experienced the good, bad or ugly of dating will find moments they have either experienced or had a lucky escape from mirrored in this book. The only word of warning I have is that you may end up neve...more

This book was a spontenious buy from the kindle shop. It was fairly cheap and had good reviews (I am a big fan on reviews). It takes only a day to read this book but my gosh It is a lot of fun to read. I enjoyed seeing Jamies blog and probably enjoyed it more than Laura's diary. They both said lines which made me laugh which for books is hard, I can smile but this book made me full on L O L. Its great for a summer read and want to check out more books from this author!

Love..From Both Sides is a book about the misguided attempts of Jaime Newman and Laura McIntrye to find love. Jaime tells his story through his blog and Laura through entries in her diary. This seemed like a light, funny read that wouldn't take itself too seriously but it didn't hit the mark for me. Neither character struck me as all that funny despite the potential for some good laughs. I also couldn't remotely identify with either character. Both seemed a bit over the top in different moments...more

What a feel good, hysterical book.
I could see this book made into a hilarious rom-com!
From being knocked out with a dollhouse, giving your date food poisoning, and seeing a soft-core porn flick because you didn't pay attention to what movie you picked for date night, this book had me laughing out loud.

Best part, it's free for Amazon Prime Members! Pick it up now.

I loved this book!!! It had me laughing out loud from the first sentence - literally.
The ending seemed a little abrupt but I think that is just because I wanted the story to continue.

This was my first Nick Spalding book and I shall definately be reading more! Great Book! :)

OK, it was funny in parts and the fact that it was in effect chic lit written by a male author was...different. I found the whole thing incredulous though - does this crap actually happen in real life?? Blah, definitely not my type of book.

I only bought this book because it was cheap on amazon, and I'm so glad I got it!

Citas surrealistas, citas que...more

Brilliantly funny and very relatable... a bit cheesy in places but I can forgive that. Although I say relatable... just to clarify, I have NEVER done a shit in a pedal bin.

This was honestly one of the funniest books I have read. From chapter one it had me laughing out loud. I have the next two instalments at the top of my to read list!

I got this book as a Kindle Daily Deal, and I'm so glad I did. I LOVED this book. It had me laughing hysterically throughout until I had tears in my eyes! It's cleverly told, as the title implies, from two sides...Jamie (who writes a blog) and Laura (who writes a journal to her mother who had passed away prior to the book). Their accounts of their respective dates up to and including their first date and on makes you feel for the characters even while laughing at their misadventures. You can't h...more

Just finished it. After reading Love under different skies. Didn't knew about the series before...hence I read the last book fist - I might be wrong and there might be more - please be so!!!

Ordering the second book as soon as I finish writing this!

So funny! Don't read this in public if you don't want people to asume you are crazy and randomly start to laugh at things.

I was not alowed to read in bed next to my husband when he was trying to sleep as I was gigling like crazy, just bursting into la...more

This is one heck of a funny book and it did make me laugh, for it is written by one huge talent of an author with such a wicked sense of humour and a sharp observation for what's witty about a disastrous situation, when he makes it literally translate off the page to put a smile on your face and a twinkle in your eye. As it explains the story of how a couple got together by taking it in turns to tell their individual takes on their dating lives before and after meeting one another. As told by al...more

When I heard about Nick Spalding’s novel Love From Both Sides, I was intrigued. Nick self-published the novel last year and it was then picked up by a traditional publisher in Hodder & Stoughton. Which is fabulous news for him, and I love hearing about self-published authors who then get a book deal with one of the big publishers. It speaks volumes about their work, and I had noticed Nick’s book before then, I just didn’t have any time at all for it. Which I now massively regret, actually, b...more

Okay, don’t ask me how but I somehow missed Nick Spalding when browsing through looking for Rom Com type of books by men. The latest book I Fell in love with was a debut novel by a self published author Steven Scaffardi. I thought it couldn’t be matched until I read Nick Spalding. It came about in the best way, I recommended the Scaffardi book to my friend Pete and he in turn then found Love From Both Sides. I got around to reading this on a particularly relaxing weekend in Spain at my Mum and D...more

I have lost count how many books I pick up to read and see on the cover “Laugh out Loud” or “Hilarious” and then read the book and just can’t seem to find what it was that people found amusing. When Love from Both Sides by Nick Spalding arrived in the post the first thing I noticed was the comment at the top of the book “The Laugh out Loud Bestseller” and I have to admit part of me was thinking here we go again!

Each chapter in the book alternates between our two main characters Jamie Newman and...more

It's not a new concept that Nick Spalding has come up with for his novel 'Love...from both sides' whereby the story of a couple falling in love is told through chapters from each other's perspectives. Mike Gayle has given us 'The Hen & Stag Party' from each side and Josie Lloyd & Emlyn Rees used to write as husband and wife using this same premise.

It is for that very reason though that I bought this novel. I loved this idea as it's very funny to see a book with outlines how dating is di...more

An amazing and funny romantic comedy. I have read all three books in the series now, and they were fabulous. This is this first book in the series and in which we first meet Jamie and Laura. These two have got to be the most hilarious set of characters I have ever read about. In the beginning, Laura has just broken up with her long-time boyfriend and Jamie is in and out of relationships. They first meet at a speed-dating event, both are pretending to be people they are not. Their second meeting...more

Nick Spalding is an author who, try as he might, can't seem to write anything serious.

Before becoming a full-time author, he worked in the communications industry, mainly in media and marketing. As talking rubbish for a living can get tiresome (for anyone other than a politician), he thought he'd have a crack at writing comedy fiction - with a very agreeable level of success so far, it has to be s...more
