The Fallen (vampires) need daylight hunters to help them search for the cause of a virulent disease that is decimating their ranks and the Lycans have the time but need what the Fallen have to offer in order to keep their newly forming packs free from their Sentinel (angelic) former bosses. So the Fallen and the Lycans team up and vampire Vashti becomes liaison to the Lycans, despite the fact the she hates 'dogs' for killing her mate and must deal directly with their alpha, Elijah, who she's sworn to kill for a more recent crime. And Vashti is on Elijah's kill list as well for murdering his best friend, but they'll work together for now, kill each other when they're done, and lust with a wild feral hunger for each other in the meantime.

A Hunger So Wild was so good. There is a decent amount of touch up with the past leads, Lindsay and Adrian, from the first book A Touch of Crimson, since the background story involves a conspiracy that impacts all three of the groups with past and present angelic ties. And I liked that there is good amount of development of relationships beyond the romantic ones in the cast – Elijah's friendship with Lindsay, Fallen leader Sayre's with Vashti, and a newly developing connection between Sayre and the fledgling who formerly housed the soul of his nephalim daughter.

I also really liked the enemies to lovers romance between Vashti and Elijah. There's a intense, wild, and almost feral chemistry between these leads. However, with two strong and dangerous beings who value control in the mix and so many reasons why a relationship between them is wrong – personal baggage and tested loyalties both - the course of their relationship is far from smooth (and their physical connection starts off with a scene that transitions briefly into iffy consent. ) But the conflicted lustiness makes for some very steamy times between them and I liked the final resolution for the pair in which they make a place for their relationship in a world where their pairing doesn't fit nicely.

For those curious about whether author Day ties the two Renegade shorts into the main story line, both of the pairings from those stories (A Dark Kiss of Rapture and A Caress of Wings) are mentioned briefly, but Raze's looks to be still in progress. Oh and for fans of Day's Marked series (Eve of Destruction, Eve of Chaos, Eve of Darkness) – which shares the same world as this series – there is a brief cameo by Eve, that series' heroine which is fun, but not enough to really catch up with her.

So, I really liked this steamy and satisfying addition to Day's Renegade Angel series and am really curious about how the background plot is going to unfold and I am also really looking forward to seeing Sayre in the lead – Day did a really good job of whetting my appetite for more of his character.(less)

A Hunger So Wild is the second book (there are two novellas preceding it as well) in the Renegade Angels series. This is my first foray into this dark world Miz Day has created. I have concluded that while this story will make sense as a standalone, you are simply missing too much overall to truly enjoy and appreciate the book on its own. Keep that in my when considering my opinion, since I am reviewing it as a standalone.

A Hunger So Wild was made of awesome, rolled in awesome, and then dipped in awesome sauce!! And for a very long time these groups lived more or less separate lives, occasionally interacting and never friendly towards each other. Now things are changing though. A group of Lycans has revolted against the Sentinels they were serving. Lead by their Alpha, Elijah Reynolds, they want their independence. Honesty first; I enjoyed this book a lot more than I thought I would. It took me a while to get my head around who everybody was, which group they belonged to and how all those groups related – or not – to each other, but once I had those facts straight and could just concentrate on the individual characters and the interactions between them, I really got into the story. The premise of the story is interesting and the characters all became real for me. At times I found myself forgetting that I wasn’t actually reading about humans, since the thoughts, feelings and the emotions the main characters display are all too recognisable even if their abilities aren’t. And while some might say that non-human characters should come with non-human characteristics, I don’t agree. Being able to relate to the characters’ emotions and actions meant that it was easy to fall into the story and just flow along with it.

Sylvia Day writes a wonderful story and sparkling dialogue. In a matter of a few pages I found myself completely submerged in this world she created and believing in it. What is more, even though I didn’t read the first book in this series, I never felt that I was lacking vital information. This story stood on its own without any problems, although it is clear that a lot of this story started in an earlier book. Sylvia Day is also very good at writing her erotic scenes. The heat rises off the pages and the attraction between the characters involved is palatable. What is more, the author has made the sexual relations an integral and realistic part of the story without ever allowing it to become the story.

This may not be a work of great literary merit, but it is definitely an example of fabulous story-telling. Sylvia Day knows how to grab her readers at the start of a book and keep them hooked until the very last page. And now that I’ve read that final word on the last page I can’t wait for the third book to come out. To say I’m curious about the rest of this story would be an understatement.

I started this trilogy two days ago and plowed through the first book a touch of crimson. I love the first book but I had two problems with this the plot is a bit lost as it is still trying to establish the world and the character development means that we miss out on or rush through important events such as the kycan revolt. Where the hell did that come from? I also thought that for what is considered by many as erotica there were some hot scenes but not as many as expected.

This is my favorite book of the series! Sylvia Day is an incredible story teller who seamlessly weaves in incredible romance and sex. Most novels in this genre lack one or the other. Day delivers it all.

A HUNGER SO WILD is a remarkably detailed storyline that addresses many of the major points and premises in the previous novels. The revelations of those involved in the death of friends and family, and of a virus so lethal, that there is only one solution-and that solution may cause panic in the hierarchy of angels. A wonderfully seductive storyline that kept me on the edge from start to finish.

I could read Sylvia Day every day the rest of my life and be quite happy and content. I’ve not read a book of hers yet that has disappointed me, but if by chance that ever does happen, I know it will still be a damn good book despite any issues I may have. She’s just that good. I enjoyed meeting Elijah in the first book in this series and was glad his book would be next. He’s a trusted friend of Lindsay, mate to Adrian, leader of angel sentinels who keep the Fallen in line. Elijah is also Fallen, a werewolf enchained to assist the angels whenever there is a need. He hunts vampires, who are also Fallen, and revels in it. When we last saw Elijah at the end of Touch of Crimson, his werewolf pack had just revolted against their servitude, forcing him to take the lead as Alpha, something he truly does not want. The rebellion is now a done deal and Elijah is doing his best to keep everyone alive. He knows Adrian will be upon them soon.

Vashti is Syre’s lieutenant, his right-hand woman. Both are Fallen vampires and are currently trying to combat an illness that is destroying any of their kind who it infects. After her initial meeting and reaction to Elijah, Vash wants nothing to do with him, but Syre insists an alliance with the wolves will be beneficial and sending her will send the right signals to all involved. Not wanting to work with the animals that murdered her mate, Vash reluctantly complies, and her world as she’s lived it for so long is about to come to an end. As much as she wants to despise the wolf Elijah is, she can’t deny the man is one put-together package. He has it all, including rank. Her former mate was not her equal, and this new relationship building with Elijah turns her on. But once his promise to help her find her mate’s killers, Elijah is a dead man.

There’s not one thing not to like about this book. Elijah and Vashti are perfect together, their hunger for one another so palpable every time they’re together. The scene where Vash chains Elijah to the bed so she can be in control of their passion is so alive it flies off the page at you. You feel her need to be the one calling the shots, but you also feel Elijah’s whole being ripping apart as he’s restrained and taken in such a way. Their need to gain vengeance against the other for deeds amassed in this war they wage against the other’s faction is what drives them in the beginning. And you watch that need slowly develop over the course of the book into their hunger for each other -it’s poetry in motion.

As they work together, the mystery they’ve been trying to solve begins to come unravel, uncovering betrayal no one saw coming. This uneasy alliance between vampires and werewolves has come a long way, and Elijah is not willing to leave Adrian on the outside, especially after what they discover. The whole of their world has now been altered, and more is to come. Whether they realize it or not, both factions, as well as Elijah and Vashti, have become stronger when working together. Is it possible to be even more so if Adrian and Sentinels also join them? That remains to be seen. There’s no telling which way this series is going to head now.

It’s great to see Adrian and Lindsay again, and, goodness, the one scene that is firmly imprinted in my head is that in which Adrian flies them both through the skies toward the heavens, almost daring his maker not to intervene with their love and loving as they’re soaring on those crimson wings. I don’t think I’ll ever forget that scene. Whew!

I’m so taken with every aspect of this series, and I can’t wait to see what happens next, because the end of this book certainly leaves everything wide open. And Syre is next. It’s going to be very interesting to see how Ms. Day brings this hero to his knees with that perfect heroine.

She can go toe to toe with baddest of the bad and always comes out on top. She bows to one man and one man only- Syre, the ever sexy leader of the vampires, they’ve been colleagues since before they fell and had their beautiful wings severed from their bodies ages ago. Vashti hates lycans – every stinking one of them. The only man (well, vamp/fallen angel) she ever loved, Char, was brutally murdered by lycans some 60 years ago. She’s been hunting those bastards ever since, and literally has no intention of sleeping until each one is dead – by her hands.

Figures she’d be assigned to try forge an alliance with the Sentinel’s rouge band of lycan’s. She’s got her orders and like the soldier she is, she doing as she’s told, but she doesn’t have to like it. Vashti had no idea their Alpha leader would be Elijah, but the instant magnetism throws them both for a loop. Lycans and Vamps have hunted each other for eons. The desire between them is evident in every scene, and despite their opposing backgrounds, they can’t ignore the heat.

The presentation of the Ms. Day’s Renegade Angels trilogy is very well thought out. She’s presented these characters from all sides, allowing for a full perspective of each player, giving the reader a complete look at their motivations. It’s also very intriguing and you REALLY don’t want it to end! I truly loved the first book in this trilogy… but this second installment takes it to a whole other level!! I am seriously looking forward to the finale and I have a feeling Syre’s book will blow me away.(less)

The lycans have revolted against the Sentinels with Elijah as their new leader. Seeing this as an opportunity, Syre sends his second-in-command Vashti to set up an alliance. Both Elijah and Vashti have their own agenda in this alliance. However, with their undeniable connection and attraction towards each other, they start to wonder if there is more to their new found relationship.
Well, to summarize this book in one phrase-my enemy’s enemy is my friend. For those who have read book 1, there is a brief mention of Vashti and Elijah’s first encounter. This book kind of continues with this “fatal attraction”. Sylvia has put together the most impossible alliance. From book 1, we know that lycans are trained to hate and hunt vampires. The lycans were once fallen angels but they accepted the option given by the Sentinels, who then infused them with demon blood without losing their souls like the vampires. Hence the lycans are seen as traitors to the fallen. And due to some misunderstanding, Vashti and Elijah both have scores to settle against each other. Given all these circumstances, the interaction and chemistry between the two make a very good read.
Sylvia did a good job in portraying Elijah, with both man and wild beast side to him. We did not see much of his character in book 1 as he was still working for the Sentinels. In this book, however, you do get to know this reluctant alpha.
Vashti, on the other hand, is the warrior princess with her leather suit and katana sword. She is kind of a cross of Selene (Underworld)/Bride(Kill Bill)/Lara Croft, an indeed very interesting and memorable creation of Sylvia in this series. The prologue which tells you the backstory of Vashti is well written, a very vulnerable image that we’ve not seen before, a big contrast to the image we have so far and certainly explains how she become what she is at present.
Unlike the story of Adrian and Lindsay, they are both very dominant characters and their attraction is very raw. It’s good to see how their relationship evolves throughout the book. They start off being enemies forced to work together to gradually getting to know each other and fall in love. There are definitely some funny dialogs and steamy scenes that everyone will enjoy.
Apart from the romance between Elijah and Vashti being the main part of the book, we get to find out about Lindsay and Adrian’s new relationship and how they handle it with Lindsay’s new situation as a vampire. I also quite like the conversation Syre had with Lindsay and he still tries to maintain this sire bond with Lindsay despite being on the other side of the battlefield.
On the other hand, we get to out more about the vampire hierarchy and their search for the source of the wraith virus with the help of lycans. The plot has definitely thickens. There is a conversation within the book (kind of half way through, you know when you get to it) which suggests both the vampires and Sentinels have traitors within their team. Also, somehow Charron(Vashti’s mate)’s death is related to this whole plot of stirring up the conflict between the two species. If you enjoy the first book, you will certainly enjoy this second one, which I think is even better with stronger characters and exciting and action-packed storyline that you can get hooked to so easily. I really can’t wait for the next book to come out!

I love this series. It gets better and better. Each book, while unique to each hero and heroine, keeps the continuity of the previous stories in the forefront.

The underlying story is filled with suspense with twists and turns, which makes this an all around win for me. My only regret is that I have to wait for the next book to come out in February 2013.

I hope Sylvia Day throws us another short in between. That would make the wait more bearable.

A Hunger So Wild by Sylvia Day

This story has been described well in the other reviews so I’m just going to give my opinion on it. Loved it! I loved Elijah and Vashti together; they were two very strong characters that rocked these pages.

Along with the revolt happening there was a wraith virus spreading that was infecting the vampires. Syre who is in charge of the vampires wants to stop this because it is causing his kind to die and they don't have a cure. He sent his second in command to Elijah to form an alliance. He knows Vashti hates Lycans and warns her not to incite a war with Lycan because they already have one with the Sentinels. She has to put her feeling aside and work with the Lycan to find out where patient zero started from and a possible antidote.

Vashti was in love once to Charron over 60 years ago and she's be in mourning since. Charron was killed by Lycans and she's been on the hunt to avenge her lovers death since. She found out that Elijah was one of the men that killed Charron. When she first appeared at the Lycan cave and saw Elijah she thought he looked hot and sexy. But he was her most hated enemy and when he looked at her he could smell that she found him attractive even though she hated Lycans, and this pissed her off. Elijah the first time he saw her she got bitten by Lindsay because she was trying to kill her, and all he thought was how hot she looked. And now that he is seeing her again she is even hotter.

When Vash offers an alliance to work together with vampires that workout for that their agenda he agrees but only if she is to remain by his side the whole time and she only feeds from him. Lycans have a possessiveness to them and his beast already has a liking to her. Even though she killed his friend Micah.

Working together Elijah and Vash find out more than they expected about the wraith virus and the death of Charron. This goes a lot deeper than what everyone thought.

I enjoyed this book from the beginning. It kept you thinking on who the bad guys were and who weren't and why everything was happening. I didn't want to put the book down. I love Elijah as a character and at first I didn't like Vash for how she was like in a Touch of Crimson and her attitude but Sylvia Day brings a different side to her and makes you want to like and hate her at the same time, in my opinion.(less)

For about five seconds, I considered reading this book without reading A Touch of Crimson. I'm so glad I didn't. While I probably would have eventually figured out what was going on, I can't imagine that I would have found it nearly as good if I were not so familiar with the world-building or invested in the characters. This is Elijah's story. He is the reluctant Alpha of the lycans who recently rose up from the indentured servitude of the warrior angels. His life has been turned on its ear by the rebellion. Hunting vampires for the Seraphim has been all he has ever known. Now the vampires are coming to him, asking for an alliance. It's an offer too good to refuse with the lycans' limited resources and the angels breathing down their backs.

The vampires' ambassador is Vashti, the beautiful sexy vamp he wanted so much when he saw her in the last book. Of course, it's not so simple as to just getting her into bed. She is the vampire who killed his friend Micah. His sense of honor demands justice as does Micah's mate, but the alliance is more important than revenge. He must put aside his anger and grief to work with Vashti long enough to figure out what is causing the illness sweeping through vampire minions. Then he plans to kill her.

Vashti is no fan of the lycans. After all, they brutally killed her mate decades ago. But even her hatred can't dull the fiery passion she feels for Elijah. A passion they have for one another, despite everything else.

It was hard for me relate to these two wanting to screw each other's brains out when they wished each other dead. Thankfully, they start to like each other quickly and that is not an issue for very long. There are other issues that take its place, though, mostly on Vashti's end. She doesn't want to want Elijah and she certainly doesn't want to have feelings for him. Her reasons why become clearer the more we read, but I never really did warm up to her. She's too reluctant of a love interest and she is a very hard woman.

Elijah, on the other hand, is a great hero. He is alpha and strong without ever being power-hungry or a jerk. He is thoughtful and patient. He knows what he wants and he will settle for nothing less, both in his pack and in his relationship with Vashti.

There's a lot going on here beyond the relationship. We learn more about the vamp-sickness and the master-plan against the angels and the vampires. We get more from Adrian and Lindsay --and even follow up on the two novellas. There is good mix of action and "the bigger picture" which kept me on the edge of my seat. And the sex is really hot, even if the very first love scene was somewhat disturbing.

The ending made it clear what would happen between our hero and heroine, but so much is still left undone. I am beside myself that I must wait until next year to get the answers to all my questions, but that just shows how much I have become invested in this world.

Fifty shades hotter than Grey! Who cares about the Crossfire trilogy after having read the two first novels (and two e-novellas) of the Renegade Angels trilogy? Not me!

A Hunger so Wild is the 2nd book in the Renegade Angels Series. I didn’t realize that this was a part of a series and so am reviewing it as a standalone. Knowing now that it is a part of a series, I wish that I had read the other two novellas as I feel that I missed some of the backstory. However I do love Sylvia Day and she has yet to disappoint.

Syre, the leader of the Fallen (vampires) takes advantage of the sentinels vulnerability and sends Vashti, his second-in-command to conduct an allegiance with the Lycans. Despite her hatred for the 'dogs' she obeys her commander and meets with the Alpha of the Lycans, Elijah, whom she suspects is the murderer of her friend.

Elijah, the most dominant of lycans (and one of Adrians most loyal subjects), has been forced to take upon the position as the Alpha of the Lycans despite the consequences he may face from the sentinels.

Vashti, the second most powerful vampire surprisingly discovers that Elijah happens to be her equal that she never thought she would encounter after losing her mate in the past. This book had me hooked from page 1. There's so much more I want to say in this review but I dont want to spoil it for anyone. Im disappointed that it had to end. I just cant get enough of this series that I just want more more more!! And unfortunately I have to suffer and wait the many months for the 3rd book to come.

Sylvia is now officially my most favorite Author. Every single book I have read so far of hers (the crossfire novels as well) has had me in love with her writing.

I would highly recommend this series to anyone that loves paranormal books with HOT SEXY ALPHA HEROES & HEROINES.(less)

I really enjoyed this book. I have been waiting for Elijah and Vash's story since A Touch of Crimson and it was really hot. I can't wait to see what happens in this series.

I knew these two were meant to be the moment that the were on the same page together in A Touch of Crimson and I have been waiting as patiently as possible to see how their romance was going to unfurl. Oh Snap, what an awesome f-----g read. It's definitely off the chain. And I just added it to my favorites. I was pulled in from page one and hung on every word til the very end. There are twists and turns that keep you guessing and it works wonderfully.

just glad I read the previous book, or I'll lost.

I just love and love this series.. mind blowing and really kept me awake to read until the end.

Elijah and Vashti's story just added more fuel to my conscious of this series.

Totally dipped in awesome sauce! I didn't think I could enjoy book 2 as much as I enjoyed book one, but was I wrong!
