This book was ridiculous. There is no way I can write a spoiler free review so I am just tagging the entire thing!

This had a lot of wonderful elements I have come to expect from Feehan's Dark series. I really enjoyed the hero and heroine -- both were very likable. It was a total blast having characters from past books appear: The Dark Troubadours and their mates, plus Shea, Jacques, Savannah and.....Gregori!! Who doesn't love Gregori!

The story was slow at times and Feehan's writing was a bit repetitive in the first half, as characters had the same thoughts and said the same thing multiple times. I think per

Featuring Dayan, member of the Dark Troubadours (with Desari, Barack and Syndil), Dark Melody began very promisingly and quickly disappointed. Dayan is a great character, tall dark and brooding to a fault, with that perfect blend of poet and bad boy - truly a classic archetype; how could Feehan screw this one up?

Even Corinne, damsel in distress, is one of the better heroines - her husband has been murdered, leaving her six months pregnant; her heart is weak and the baby will kill her (even witho

My keyboard's comma-key is broken that's why there are no commas in this review. Also this book is probably not quite as bad as my review will paint it but I only just finished it and the anger hasn't worn off yet.

Maybe this book deserves 2 stars rather than one but I am just so sick of Feehan's Carpathians series. The books are just unforgivably similar. I keep reading them because I like the setup and every once in a while am in the mood to read something incredibly stupid. With Feehan you pre
SELF NOTE: I decided not to read it for the reason "heroine is pregnant with other man" I know it sounds strange...but if the child was older like 2 or 3 years, that would be better the same goes for the Heroes child..but her being still pregnant is just not romantic but uncomfortable for me!

In this installment of the Carpathian series, Feehan takes a turn from the formula. Instead of running, fighting and chasing vampires while searching for lifemates, we settle down some. Dayan (a favorite yummy treat ) finds his lifemate in Corrine but immediately realizes there is a problem. She has a defective heart and will not live long. Now anyone reading this series might think, "what's the problem? The Carpathians can heal her". Well, not so fast - she is also pregnant and Dayan can

First, the heroine had been with someone else before meeting her true lifemate???? What's up with that. Elen previous books of virgins and Feehan sticks a pregnant woman in the mix!!!!!!!! No way! That was a turn off and than Corrine was a professional whinner, a Raven / Savanna clone who got on my nerves. It tooks months literally months for me to finish this one! Even the appearance of Gregori etc towards the end could not salvage this story for me. Corrine destroyed this story. And yes I know ...more

I was dissappointed with Dark Melody. The premise is good but instead of concentrating on the story line, Feehan got wrapped up in 101 ways to describe a hot guy and his dark mysterious eyes. By page 60 something I actually said outloud - he has dark eyes I get it - move on already!
The repetitive imagery and metaphors overpowered what could have been a tight and tense plot - bulking out the book perhaps but were frustrating to read, which was a shame since the action scenes were mostly well writ

So we're back with the band and I really liked this one.

For many reasons.

So, if you remember, everyone in the band (Dark Challenge, Dark Fire) has a lifemate except for Dayan. At the end of Dark Fire, he went on the run with the human, Cullen Tucker, evading the human society of vampire hunters.

(see my reviews for these and others here)

He meets Corinne, a songwriter. The complication? Corinne has a heart condition, she doesn't have much time to live. On top of that, she's pregnant with her husba

This is the story of Dayan and Corinne Wentworth. Dayan is a lead guitarist in The Dark Troubadours. His story begins with him playing in a bar despite the danger of being hunted by a group of human fanatics. He is accompanied by Cullen Tucker who was introduced in Dark Fire. He had warned Darius and Tempest of the human fanatics and is now on top of the vampire hunter death list, along with The Dark Troubadours. Both are in a bar because Dayan had a strong compulsion to be there.

**Fair warning - I'm going to tell 2 facts about Corinne that would be considered spoilers**

This was a very good story. I liked both Dayan and Corinne and their story was enjoyable and kept me engaged in the story.

Corinne is a writer of both books and songs. Corinne had a bad childhood but it teamed her up with her BFF Lisa and Lisa's brother John. Corinne didn't love John as more than a brother but she's very unselfish and even seems to feel a need to make others happy so she married Joh
I skipped to this book because I was so disappointed that we did not get the reunion between Gregori and his long-lost siblings in Dark Fire (book 6) that I was hoping for. She decided to wait until book 12 to do this.

It wasn't quite as satisfying as I thought it would be, but I have a feeling that is because it was a different narrator and I hated the way Gregori and some of the other men were voiced. It is hard to listen to a series when they keep switching narrators. Sometimes it's a good thi

Dark Melody features Dayan, a dark and handsome Carpathian poet, songwriter and musician with his family band the Dark Troubadours (I just love the stories featuring this band!! Desari, Syndil, Barack…and the rest of family and leopards….)He is close to turning and after seeing to the safety of his family decides to leave them and to perhaps find his own true lifemate.

I liked this book more than I thought I would - I think it helped that there were some major appearances of previous Carpathians (even Jacques and Shea) and some teeny tiny mentions of the 'evil' society helped matters out.

Dayan is not really an interesting male lead, Corrine isn't the best female lead (though interesting with her weakened heart and she is the first to have been with someone other than her lifemate) and Lisa was just so so annoying and selfish and... to be honest, if the society
I liked this book a helluva lot better than many of the others in the series. First of all, there was absolutely no smut until the very end. It was refreshing. I loved Corinne and Dayan. They were good together.

Another thing that threw me a bit for a loop, was that Dayan didn't claim Corinne for his mate until towards the end of the book. Sure, Corinne was pregnant and terminally ill so things had to be mixed up a little. But it made for an exciting read. Especially because at one point I wasn't
Not as good as some of her other books. It was really promising, really romantic, I loved the "eyes meeting across a crowded room" thing that she had in the first few chapters. But once the characters left the bar all the tension seemed to leave the book. Everything became about the baby the female character was carrying, her heart condition that made continuing to carry the baby so dangerous, and the best way to save both her and the baby. Then at the very end, after the baby was born, the tens ...more

45 estrellas.

I can't review this impartially. I need a break. After having read 13 of these books back to back I can no longer give a fair opinion.

If I have to read the word "sheath" or "velvet" one more time I will become a homicidal berserker.

I'm taking a break from this series, which I think has incredible potential in terms of world building and characters, but gets lost in the vapid prose. Perhaps a break will improve my opinion.

I feel this one gave a little twist to the helpless Virgin lifemate that made me vaguely happy. Still not exactly a great read but or some reason, I can stop reading them.

Barak and Julian made me laugh, and so did Savannah. lol

Lead guitarist of the Dark Troubadors, Dayan was taking some time away from his band. After Darius found Tempest, Desari was found by Julian, and Barak claimed Syndil as his lifemate, Dayan needed time to himself. All the love and intense emotions his family had found were a reminder of what he didn’t yet have. Traveling around with his human friend Cullen Tucker, Dayan was overwhelmed to find his lifemate in a small bar in the middle of nowhere. He was especially shocked to learn she was pregna ...more

I loved it. It's one of my absolute favorite in the series because you see the love grow and there isn't any fighting vampires. It's a beautiful story, completely different from all the other.

This is a very long series (around 28 rigth now) that tell us the history of a group of people called "Carpatians", this men's & women's have powers and qualities, very similar to the vampires, they feed on blood, sleep in the ground during the day, talk with animals, change into others forms (like wolfs, birds, mist, etc), but they are born from a woman, like the human babies, and grow like a human baby, during the first years of their lifes, then when they reach maturity (some point betwee ...more

In this one we travel to the Cascade Mountains where Dayan has gone to get away from the lovey dovey couples of his newly mated family. He’s not so much jealous as that it is making it hard for him to resist the ‘dark side’. Cullen goes with him in order to hide from the human vampire hunters. And of course that’s where their destiny lies.

This is a different type of story. The danger isn’t so much in bad vampires and human vampire hunters, though they are in here. But the main crisi
