Madison Westin proves to be an intriguing character in a cove filled with interesting characters, most of whom are tenants at the motel. Personalities help make the story, although the story could have started a bit quicker. Introducing the murder sooner would have increased the pace.

The first meeting between Zach and Madison strains the reader’s believability. There wasn’t enough development between the two characters as well as between Madison and her mother.

Madison Westin's a strong, independent woman who can take care of herself. Really. Now that she's inherited her aunt's motel, she's ready to prove it to the world. The only things standing in her way are crazy tenants, a manager who's telling everyone he owns the place, a lawyer who's insisting she sell, and her mom who just wants her to meet a nice man. Then she gets a surprise visit from her aunt's friend Zach - he's young, hot, and bleeding all over her lanai. Welcome to Florida - where a gi...more

Strange, crazy and very dubious characters inhabit this sleepy beach town in Florida. There's a locker picker, a security expert, a greedy lawyer, a controlling architect, a drunk, a woman whose pet is a stuffed cat, an over protective mother and brother. It was a short but funny read. The hero sounds so dang studly - security expert, ex-seal, Barreta wielding savior And friend. And the heroin, Madison, well she just keeps finding herself in these weird situations, liked by all, lusted after by...more

NOTE: I received a copy of this book from the author. All that was asked was an honest review.

If you are looking for the next great american novel or one with some fancy award, then this is not the book you are looking for, but if you are looking for a fun read then this is it.

When Madison Elizabeth Westin's aunt passed away it came as a surprise to everyone. When she was informed about it by the lawyer Tucker Davis and askes about her helping with the burial plans, she is informed that he was t...more

What a great read! A Funny and engaging Chick Lit/Mystery that you won't want to put down.

Deborah Brown has created the most fun book I have read in a long time. I found myself actually laughing at the clever humour and crazy circumstances she has written; rather skilfully I may add. It’s hard to believe this is Deborah’s debut novel, she writes like a pro.

Madison Westin has just arrived in Tarpin Cove, a down on its rundown little town in the Florida Keys, after inheriting her Aunt Elizabeth’s...more

Quirky is the best word I can use to describe Crazy in Paradise by Deborah Brown. There's a lot packed into this little book. What stood out to me the most is the names for some of the characters. Spoon, Slice, Axe, Topaz, and Buckshot to name a few.

The normal one of the bunch is recently divorced Madison Westin. She has just inherited property from her deceased Aunt Elizabeth. She sees it as an opportunity to start a new life. She can live in her aunt's home and run her rental property. It sou...more

This is the ultimate beach read. It’s even based in Florida!

The universe has rocked Madison Westin’s world. After finally divorcing her controlling husband, she gets the devastating news that her beloved aunt has died.

Following the bizarre funeral, the will is read and Madison learns that she has inherited her late aunt’s home and her business, a motel, both in the Keys of Florida. She decides to move in immediately.

Crazy in Paradise was a book full of strange, crazy characters, each collecting their own set of “I owe you’s.” From the first page of the book to the last, the action was non-stop. The story began with recently divorced Madison Westin inheriting her recently deceased aunt’s beachfront house and properties. Not only does she inherit an old motel, she also inherits an old motel full of eccentric people.

From the insane funeral that will leave you in tears, to the scheming attorneys, mad ex-cons,...more

One of the more enjoyable reads I've had recently, this book contained a little bit of everything. Within the first few chapters I was treated to several quirky characters and some wonderfully irreverent humor as I followed our heroine, Madison Westin, on her journey through a bit of personal upheaval. This poor woman has no luck, but she suffers that burden well with the help of her family(with whom she engages in banter constantly)and several new-found friends(who aren't right at all). There i...more

The book was so-so. I totally wasn't expecting all the crazy kidnapping, murder and blackmail for sure but that's what I get for not reading synopsis. I finished the book not so much because I wanted to find out what happened but because I have to finish anything I've started. Some mistakes in the grammar which I probably wouldn't have noticed if the book was more interesting. Just glad it's done and out of the way now. I'm not a big fan of murder/money making schemes so this book just wasn't my...more

This is a really good read if you like novels with quirky characters that are a bit extreme. It’s very fast paced—something is constantly happening—and the characters are all quite funny; I definitely snorted a few different times due to the outlandish circumstances surrounding the characters, especially Madison. I mean, if I could meet them all in real life, it’d be one heck of a party… but these also aren’t the type of people I’d surround myself, for my own safety!

The novel itself, I’d say, is...more

This was a really neat book in that it was full of conversation. Almost the entire book was conversation, unless it needed some description or other things to be explained, for the most part it was pure conversation. This is the first time I have come across writing like this. It was rather interesting, very well done, and I enjoyed it immensely.

When I read the blurb for this book I was intrigued by the promise of a tough heroine and plenty of action so although it took me a while to get to it I was excited about reading this novel. The first paragraph was good and so I settled in to read.
There are things that worked for me: the villains are chilling and infuriatingly in control of the situation, the good guys aren't averse to breaking and entering, and the guys in between apparently don't know that playing both sides isn't the smartes...more

Madison Westin is a recent divorcee trying to get her life back on track. When her aunt dies, she learns that she has been left her aunt’s home and a beachfront motel in Tarpon Cove, Florida. The good news is that she feels comfortable relocating to Florida and taking over the property management. The bad news is that the estate lawyer and current property management don't want her involved in the management of the motel.

Things in Tarpon Cove aren't what they appear to be, and Madison quickly b...more

Description:

Recently divorced Madison Westin inherits her dead aunt's beachfront motel in sunny Florida, but she also inherits all of the problems that go with it: crazy tenants, angry ex-cons, scheming estate attorneys, conniving hotel managers, a dead body, and a hunky private investigator who creates more problems than he fixes. Can Madison and her gun-slinging bestie get control of the motel and get rid of the ones in charge? Or will they both end up dead in paradise?

Fluttering Thoughts:

World Building: Contemporary Florida Keys setting.
Characters: Fun; Madison is a grown woman who's rebuilding her life after a divorce, and she felt right to me with her sense of humor and spunky attitude. Zach was cool too, they had good chemistry and their relationship was interesting to see happen. Some of the other characters seemed briefly focused on, more functional, but certainly amusing - at least some of them, like...more

Crazy in Paradise - Madison Westin inherits part of her Aunt's estate in Florida. After moving there to take new ownership, she meets an interesting group of people that flock in and out of her new home and become her instant friends. They fight off car thieves, criminals, and fraud experts galore. Quick read, that during a winter month made me want to be in the sun. The ending was more intense than the lightheartedness of the rest of the book and took away from the total read. Whimsical, zany c...more

An enjoyable light read. More romance than I usually go for, but it is well written and better edited than many I've picked up free for my kindle app. It isn't quite a mystery in the usual sense, but it has plenty of mysterious elements and tension to balance out the romance. I would enjoy more from this author and with this main character. I liked her determination to prove herself--to herself. It's a feeling I both recognize and respect.

When Madison’s aunt Elizabeth dies, some shady characters are involved in the planning of her funeral, execution of her will, and management of rental property she left to her niece. Things get rather dicey as Madison attempts to figure out why her aunt would associate with such unsavory characters and what exactly is going on with her inheritance. Along the way, she finds a new love interest and develops relationships with people of questionable backgrounds. Overall, I liked this story. I enjoy...more

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, so much that when I finished it I immediately bought the next one in the series. Besides being extremely well written, it has a everything I love in a book: A protagonist who's easy to relate to, romance, a quirky but believable supporting cast of characters, a fast-paced plot with action that never stops, and lots of laughs. I can't wait for number three!

What a fun, enjoyable read. I didn't know anything about this book or this author when pocked it up. I loved the quirky characters that
T just kept coming. I liked her nutty family, and the plot line wasn't bad either

I read this in one sitting, as I enjoyed it that much.

I am curious to see what else she's written

Had this in my summer arsenal of downloads. Actually my husband found this one for me and I enjoyed that it was set in the Florida Keys. Plot developed quickly and kept me reading. Some of it was too predictable and cliche especially with the private eye romance...but overall a fun read.

Fun book to read. A bit of romance, mystery and alot of colorful characters. I like it when an author can transport me in the book where I can actually smell the salt air, feel the breeze from the palm trees visualize the the characters. Will definetly read Deborah Brown again.

What a fun read! A light-hearted action story peopled by a sleazy lawyer, small-time criminals, a sexy group of "security specialists" and one young lady who inherited it all from her late aunt along with beach front rental cottages.

I feel guilty for giving this book three stars. It was a mindless romantic suspense book that I guess you need every now and then. It keep my attention so that's why I gave it the rating I did. It wasn't bad for a free book!

I had a hard time getting into this book. After several attempts I ended up staying up and reading it rather quickly. I can't believe what interesting experiences one character can have. Glad I was persistent and read it!

what can I say? I took a chance on a book and it turned out to be a good one. LOVE THE BOOK!! The characters are fleshed out and seem like they can real. They were fun to read and the dialouge was stellar. Can't wait to read the sequel.
