I enjoyed TV Psychic John Edward's memoir of how he became someone who talks to dead people. I confess I've been enthralled by many episodes of the tv show "Crossing Over" where Edward's apparently translates messages from the other side. I've also been enthralled watching a confessed charlatan do a very similar act on some TV special I flipped to. So can John Edward receive sounds and symbols from spirits? I don't know. If so, we have a case of transposition in the sense C.S. Lew...more
Apparently, this book fell upon me for a reason. A spirit is pushing me to undestand their world....but who? I really don't know that many dead people (thankfully).... This book got my attention and had me thinking, but it is not written by a writer....but a medium. Don't expect flowery sentences or amazing images. Expect a book written as if John is talking to you....I enjoyed his TV show, Crossing Over, so I was not a sceptic reading this book.

Oh this is a terrible memoir of bullshit about how everything means something and every breeze that blows by is the dead one you are desperately missing coming to tell you IT'S ALL RIGHT I KNOW YOU LOVED ME I'M FINE HELLO.
Not that that wouldn't be awesome if it were true, but, well, anyway. Edward reads it himself, and does a vg job of it. It was basically like shlocky fluffy candy to listen to while I assembled stacks of office furniture. Just what the doctor ordered and it would be...more

My curiosity was piqued - how does John Edward know n amazing amount about people's lives and more specifically their dead relatives? This book was interesting in that it explained how he is able to "communicate" with what he believes are the dead. He did a great job explaining his experiences, I thought. And what was especially nice is that he did not draw conclusions about the afterlife. He leaves that to the reader.
Amazing account of John Edward's skill of communicating with people who have passed on, told with humour and compassion, very moving accounts of healing given to people who are grieving for lost loved ones and hard-core cynics being convinced that it is for real.
I believe John Edward has the gift to speak to the dead. He explains how he got into the "business" and how "the boys", his guides have helped shape his career. He is a very interesting read.
I didn't love this book. I listen to psychics on the radio which I think is more fun. This was telling stories of people he helped with his gift. Not so interesting to me.
A psychic medium speaks to those who have loved and Lost. I liked this one. There is a lot about his mother who gave him trouble from the other side.

I am fascinated by this whole medium thing and have watched John Edward on tv a lot. The scriptures say that we are all given gifts, and I think John Edward has the gift of talking to the dead. Hey, do the research: they tested him at U of Arizona and he was 80% correct. The control group got like 10% or something. Anyway, I think he's a very sweet, very soft-hearted good Catholic boy who just wants to help people communicate with lost loved ones. What's wrong with that? Would I spend the big bu...more
This book is excellent, it is the first book John Edward wrote and the third one I have read. This and Infinite Quest are the best. Really love this book. Like all the examples of reads and his down to earth way of writing, like he is talking to you.
I am a big believer in John Edward's talent... don't see him as a fake and loved the book.
It was an interesting read for the author to explain the gift of mediumship to a doubting world, an attempt to bring the controversial practice into the legitimate limelight.
Again was ok, still prefer 'Crossing Over'.
Interesting material, good story.
Interesting book/stories, uplifting.
Wow, this was quite the story. I enjoyed it very much - it's amazing that anyone could survive for so long and travel so far on a life raft. There is a lot of science and description in the book, helping to explain, in detail, just how he did it. There are plenty of diagrams as well. (In fact, if I was ever at sea, I'd want this book with me as a reference, just in case.) While these are necessary, I thought it dragged the book down a bit.
I just like John Edward, I think he's for real, so I found this interesting.
I bought this book for self-education purposes. I expected it to be lousy or new-agey or preachy. In fact, it was intelligent, articulate, amusing and extremely well-written and fast-paced. Far superior to the books he'd read on his journey.

I read his books just to read them, they are very controversial, but I have an opened mind and thought they were an easy read and well written.
This is one of those books you will love or hate. I recommend it to anyone with an open mind.
i wanted to give this a lower rating, but he's a good story teller.
I've read another book by John Edward and I enjoy his style of writing.
This was a very interesting and enjoyable book.
Very interesting look into medium abilities.
