I was lucky enough to get be able to sit down on the beach (I stay from morning til evening) and read this book cover to cover...err.... start to finish as I read it on my Kindle. It was a quick and easy read but left me wanting more. I'm hungry to find out what happens next. I have so many questions I want answered and to think there are so many books left in the series to wait for! I'm on the edge of my seat waiting.

As Darkness Ends is a rather short book, I was able to complete it in an hour or two. The story is about Travis, who like many others have just survived a devastating earthquake that destroyed New York City and the rest of the world. As hes traveling to get home he comes across Davos, a strange being from a different dimension. Davos tells him he must go around the world and link Encautum (a type of energy) to itself in 3 days or all of humanity is doomed. If he doesn't do it? He will die anyway...more

Decisions, Decisions. Make the wrong one, and destroy humanity forever.
An earthquake shakes New York, but this is different from other earthquakes. It shakes the entire earth, no country is exempt from this earthquake. A man, struggling to get home, meets a stranger. He is given a choice, help complete the apocalypse or die.
I think the author did a fantastic job of describing a trip across the United States. This book definitely drew me in as a reader....more

Find shelter or die.
Travis Hunter is in Manhattan when the earthquake hit, and finds himself running towards whatever safety he can get to. Afterwards, the survivors gather to make some sense out of what just happened. Shortly afterwards, Hunter finds himself released only to be contacted by a Higher Power to take up a mission as a Runner. Informed that it is now his job to lay down judgement upon all the remaining humans, Hunter takes off to circle the world with Encautum, completing the circle...more

Got to love apocalyptic stories! Nothing better than reading an author view of the end of the world. It was nice to be able to compare Crocco's Travis Hunter traveling through the Lincoln Tunnel with that of Stephen King's Larry Underwood.
This was a great first book in a series, and it ends in a way that makes the reader wanting to see what will happen in book two. Hopefully we will not have to wait too long to find out!

Aaron Crocco can be summed up as a writer and a podcaster, but complicating issues further is the fact that he's a huge geek, Apple fanboy and loves Back to the Future so much that he owns a Delorean. In the mid-2000′s his writing spark was reignited and he's been tearing up the keyboard ever since, slinging words all over the place. Aaron's apocalyptic debut series AS DARKNESS ENDS explores the e...more
