The ending of this book saved it for me.

I find that this story line seems kick off with a bang and slows down in the middle to a build up and smashing ending.

Some things can be seen if you are looking for them. Others seem to slap you in face and you go, "WOW!" Never saw that one coming even though you expected something.

I am enjoying the characters growth in the story line. Especially regarding Samuel. I like how certain characters are killed off and new ones are brought into the story line.

Unfortunately I've had to stop reading this book. I read the first one some time ago, and I can't remember all the characters and the entire back story, which would make it easier to read this. Furthermore, I also find the story drags very slowly. While I'm interested to see where this all goes, I'm not willing to slog through several hundred pages of monotony.

1 step forward & 2 steps back. i read bk 1 & was excited to get bk 2, but...for the most part it was wonderful. a lot of action, heaps of intrigue, and a little romance. aggain for me, i just thought the characters were a bit dense & should have learned from thier pasts. however- i really like this author & i think it would drive me nuts if i did not finish this trilogy.

Torn between loving this book and hating it with a passion.
But the love is greater!
The twists, beautifully deadly! The fight scenes in this book were more interesting than the first.
Some very shabby plots stop me from giving it full 5 stars.

I am waiting for the day this is made into a movie.
A good read. Fresh fantasy, not without its flaws, but a stand-out from the pack.

Michael Foster lives in Perth, Western Australia in a little house in the hills with his little (growing) family. He works by day and writes by night, often attempting to explain away his baggy eyes and absence from social events with nonchalant wantonness. His hobbies include annoying use of unnecessary adjectives, pointing out the incredibly obvious and overlooking the use of contronyms.
