Addison Blakely is a preacher's kid. Her whole life and beliefs are predetermined & all eyes are on her, and she needs to set the good example in her community. Problem is, Addison is confused. She doesn't know what to believe in, if everything is only black or white, and what are the intentions of the hot new 'bad boy' in town, Wes Keegan.
A big portion of the book is spent with Addison's infatuation and also resistance towards Wes, her internal struggle when it comes to being a preacher's k...more

A book about religion is always very hit or miss. The way the specific belief is handled is what makes all the difference.
Addison Blakely is a PK- Preacher's Kid, and the story is told from her humorous point of view. Though much of this book is about God and how she feels about Him, it didn't feel especially preachy. There was a lot of other subject matter to keep you interested. There actually seemed to be almost too much else going on during the book. I honestly think that some things could...more

Being a Preacher's Kid is hard work!
At least that's what Addison Blakely thinks. Addison struggles to fit in with her peers, yet at the same time be the epitome of perfection expected of a PK. Addison navigates her way through High School, friendships, romantic relationships, and her dad dating again. Can Addison keep up with the unfair expectations handed down to her, can she be a good PK?

Brilliant. Stunning. Poignant. Honest. Refreshing. Inspiring. Revelatory.
These were the first words that came to my mind after reading AB:CoaPK. Days later, I'm still in awe of the beauty in this story. I laughed, my eyes welled with tears, I laughed some more. It’s so much bigger than labels. The major theme of this story is universal. Who hasn’t questioned what they believe and why they believe it? Betsy St. Amant hits a home run with Addison Blakely: Confessions of a PK, the grippingly honest story of sixteen-year-old Addison who’s lived her entire life in the fish bowl world of being the preacher’s daughter. It’s been just her and Dad since Mom died leaving behind an only child to muddle through growing up with the unenviable title of P.K. About the time Addison’s best friend demands she fall for the hot jock, Austin, who always gets the girl, the Harley-riding, leather-jacket clad Wes c...more
I requested and received this book from NetGalley for a review, and I'm absolutely happy that I requested this book. Addison Blakely was a very relatable character, especially since I'm the daughter of a PK; that's right, my mother's father is a Preacher, so I understood many of Addison's struggles. Despite Addison being 16, she is definitely mature for her age, and she handled obstacles that were thrown her way very well. I loved her friendship with Marta, and I definitely loved Wes' character;...more
Summary: Addison Blakely lives in a fishbowl: not only does she live in a small town where everyone knows her business, but she's the pastor's kid. Up until now, she's lived up to the expectations. Then enters Wes, a motorcycle riding, leather jacket wearing brooder. His attention has her wanting to rebel and to follow her heart instead of the "rules" she's always followed. Will she be able to find her way and learn to balance faith and love?

Addison Blakely: Confessions of a PK by Betsy St. Amant
Addison is almost seventeen. She lives with her father, who is a pastor, her mother died when she was five. Oh and her father is quite a bit on the overprotective side! For the past four months Addison has been trying to ignore her feelings for the new guy in town, Wes Keegan. He was a leather jacket, motorcycle riding, bad boy. At school she had to fend off Austin. One of the school jocks who wanted to add her to his list of conquests, the...more

It was a refreshing change to read a young adult book that had romance, yet was completely clean. The book held my attention throughout. TAnd I appreciated the fact that this was a definite work of Christian fiction...no holding back on that theme. There were only a few things that would be on my "wish list" for this book. They are, in no particular order:
1. Further explore the relationship between Addison and Claire. It was there, we got a glimpse, and then it was dropped like a hot mocha latte...more

I'm not sure what I was expecting when I started reading this one, but I wasn't expecting to love it as much as I did. And I have to admit, it did take until about the halfway point for me to really get into this book, but once I was in? I was in and finished it in a few hours.
I have to say, while this book is very obviously Christian oriented, it's not beat you over your head religious - really it's just a side story in the bigger (more swoon-worthy) picture.

This doesn't appear to be a series but I think it should be.
Addison Blakely: Confessions of a PK really kept me entertained! I was genuinely engrossed in this story. It was nothing like I thought it would be- it was much better and a very pleasant surprise. I really could not put this book down and read it straight through in about two sittings.

This is one of those books that I really don't quite know how to rate.
The main character Addison was a pretty confused girl trying to live up to the stigma of being a preacher's daughter while also trying to find her wants and beliefs along the way without disappointing anyone during her journey to self discovery.
I liked that she was a strong character and that she stood up for herself and stuck with what she felt was right even though she had some pretty serious pressure and temptations along...more

I was surprised that I liked this book as much as I did. When I first read the title I expected some angst-filled fluff, but the character of Addison Blakely was well developed and realistic. Her struggles with being a PK seemed real and her emotions, genuine. She tried so hard to be herself but always found herself worried about how that would reflect on her dad.
The relationship between Addison and her dad wasn't quite as believable as it could have been. It didn't seem to me that there were as...more

Addison, age 16, is best known for her role as the diligent PK (preacher's kid) -- always second guessing and second checking her actions to ensure she is upholding her father's good name. So, when she starts crushing on Wes, an older guy with a definite wild side, she is definitely hesitant to let things go too far. But, no matter how hard Addison tries to forget Wes, she is unable to keep herself from gravitating towards his mysterious charm. Can a preacher's justify a relationship with the to...more
Addison Blakely: Confessions of a PK is written by Betsy St. Amant. This book is excellent and I will be sure to pick up and read any book written by her!

While I loved the first two-thirds of this book, the last part crumbled for me. Addison Blakely is hilarious and very much a teenage girl with a huge crush on the bad boy. She’s lost her best friend from childhood, due to differences, her dad is dating her teacher, and she somehow volunteered to help run the school Talent Show. Then, it seemed, that the writer realized that she was writing a Christian novel for teens, and the last third of the book was all about that, tying things up with a neat...more

Addison Blakely has always done everything to please her overprotective dad—who’s also a pastor. The thing is, she has a crush on a bad boy. And the more her dad ignores her, the more she wants to chase after something she wants. But what if it’s the wrong choice?
Two thumbs up! I adored this book so much that I ignored my entire household one Saturday morning because I couldn’t put it down! This is a great story about first love/lust/attraction and how Addison deals with...more

Just writing the release date of Betsy's new book Addison Blakely : Confessions of a PK makes us wonder where the year is going as January 2012 is just around the corner as it creeps up pretty quickly. It always makes us wonder what goes on in the minds of PK (Preacher Kids) as they can be portrayed as two types of people in the movies and in literature - they either are really naughty and have a dark secret side to them or they are goody-goody two shoes- the ones that can do no wrong . Just loo...more

Addison Blakely is about a 16 year old girl who around her small town is known as the PK (Preacher's Kid) I instantly thought of Ariel from Footloose but Addison is the likeable "nice, obey my father's rules" kinda girl. She meets a boy named Wes the "mysterious brooding tattooed motorcycle driving -I don't want a relationship" type of guy.

Addison Blakely is a Preacher’s Kid. A straight-A student. Sweet and kind always, and completely loyal. Enough so that when her best friend, Claire, starts treating her like scum she smiles and takes it.
At least until Wes comes to town. Wes has a motorcycle and leather jackets and makes out with girls right in front of Addison’s house. But she has a major crush on him and Wes knows it.
When Addison finally finds the courage to not cover for Claire, leaving her to get an Incomplete on a major gr...more
Betsy St. Amant has a smooth writing style, and I was happy with the way the story of Addison Blakely unfolded. It's a difficult story to tackle, Addison like most of the other girls in her class is starting to think about not just dating, but also about sexual intimacy, and keeping that in mind I think the author conveys Addison's conflicting emotions very well.
The story could have come off entirely preachy, but it didn't. Addison's not perfect, in fact I was unimpressed by her attitude toward...more

Oh, Addison, I know you too well. PK (pastor’s kid) is a jarringly familiar term to me, a title and taunt that you never grow out of. Well, at least I haven’t. So when I saw this book on Netgalley my interest was instantly piqued. And while Addison and I have quite a lot to commiserate about, unlike her, worrying about rebelling was never my problem. Bad boy? Been there. Done that. Me and that chick from Footloose, we’re *like that*. Next cliché, please.

I liked this book. It is nice to read about people discovering what they really believe and then sticking to their morals. I liked Addison. She wasn't perfect but she was trying to not let her father down. Her father was a flawed and realistic character. I was happy to take the journey with her as she figured out how she really felt about things. I liked Wes but I never fully trusted him. Although I was happy with the way his character had changed by the end of the book. I have to admit (true to...more
Addison Blakely has led what one might say a complicated life. Addison is sixteen, in high school, lost her mom at a young age, and is the daughter of the local small town preacher. Everything she says or does reflects back on her dad and it seems people are always judging. This year has been more difficult than most; a new and intriguing bad boy has moved across the street and a sweet guy in her class has started paying attention to her. Making things more complicated her best friend Claire has...more

I admit, I was expecting a very different story. But in a way I’m really happy that it wasn’t what I initially thought. Was it a good thing? Yes. A big yes actually. I’m glad that the book has more depth than just a story of a goody two shoes girl that falls in love with a bad boy.
As the title suggests, Addison is a PK—a pastor’s kid. Because of that she has a big responsibility, big shoes to fill in as the preacher’s daughter. I confess again, I also have slight (but not really negative)...more

At First Sight: Addison lives the life expected of a small-town Preacher's Kid: she has good grades, is liked by all her teachers and is generally friendly with people - even if her relationship with best friend Claire is currently on a rocky patch. And if she has had to learn to be a little more self-reliant at home because her mom died when she was young and her dad works a lot, she's generally doing fine.
