Two days after the zombie apocalypse has begun, siblings Zac and Zoe along with their friends Rice, Madison and Ozzie, are ready to save the world. They have the antidote! (Details about that can probably be found in Volume 2.) Now they have to drive across the zombie-infested United States to replicate the antidote and cure all the zombies. Yes, this is for younger readers. The zombies are to be fought off and contained but not killed. Kloepfer is able to strike a precarious balance between gro ...more

Kloepfer, John. The Zombie Chasers: Sludgment Day. (#3)
Zach's parents (and most of the world) have been turned into zombies, but Zach and his friends have the antidote and are ready to save the world! First they have to drive across the country and locate the food scientist Duplessis, who helps them make more antidote as well as antizombification popcorn (it looks like brains, right?). During their trip to get there, they meet up with zombie Elvis impersonators, have a show down in the Mall of A
Young Reader Reaction: Our reader spent more time with the drawings than the writing. She kept asking "what's happening" and we kept saying "you need to read to find out." Eventually, she settled into the book, but got bored about halfway through.

Adult Reader Reaction: The story got repetitious quickly. Some of the humor - like zombie Elvis' taking over Memphis - was lost on our reader. In general, the story covers a lot of the "usual" ground in preteen books, particularly between Zack and his s
The 3rd book in the Zombie Chasers series. This book is rated for 8-12yr olds and I think they may have been very generous in that assessment. It's predictable, stupid, disgusting, and uses super small words. My almost 6yr old is ready to start reading them as they definitely appeal to him and the vocabulary is simple enough that he won't need much help. The downside, I'll have to listen to them.

If you have a child in the marketed age range that is looking for total fluff and is just starting to

But then on his trip back to his parents he stops at a supermarket at a gas station and hears the phone ringing so he picks it up and it was the president who knew were he was and the president commands him to go somewhere othe city and duplicate this antidote in a secret lab. So Zack went on a long adventure and finally found the lab. Then they duplicated the antidote and they said that ...more

I also read this one back then which was the first one read that is why I loved to read Zombie Chasers. I really liked reading this book because it has so much dialogue. But I really want to now what happens in the end. Because when I read Zombie books it really have a happy ending or a sad ending.

The saga continues...

Can the kids get the cure to those who need it before they themselves become zombies?

With a trip that includes zombie Elvis impersonators, a purchase of a Winnebago, a visit to Mall of America, a giant Ketchup bottle involving a tornado, and the headquarters that started it all, fans of the series will find themselves satisfied.

The illustrations that accompany this novel help enhance the storytelling, bringing it to a new level of grossness, which is why young readers will e
