Shelves: fiction
The stories are really short - 24 stories in a little over 100 pages - so they all seem incomplete. He builds tension by alluding to some unspeakable horror, but because the stories end so quickly, it seems like he never gets around to speaking of it!

I don't know... maybe short stories aren't 'my thing' or maybe I am accustomed to modern horror. His writing became annoying about halfway through the book. Repetitive with his adjectives... creepy sure, but the reservation that's often found in Jane Austen only partially works with horror.
