I thought the last book in this series was fantastic and I had high hopes for this one because of poor Sean's abuse and all the angst it would involve, but it didn't quite deliver. Parts of it were still quite gripping though and I think the scene that will stay most vivid in my memory was when Sean was left staked on the ground to die in the red rock Arizona desert heat with swarms of huge ants crawling over him and in him, biting him so that his eyes, ears and throat were swollen shut. Can you ...more

** Some of this might be mildly spoilerific. It's also mostly chronological. **

I’m disappointed. If I give this book three stars then that’s only because it is part of a series so the better ones will be an influence. Even so it’s scraping the bottom of the three-star barrel. Damn.

Perhaps I should have seen this coming right away. The beginning’s a little rambly and repetitive with Alex thinking the same things over and over.

Alex is a jerk initially. I guess one of the several reasons to hate Al

'Rendered', the fourth book in this imaginative series, picks up the story of two men we have met before, both of whom I was really curious about. Both have a dark past, both have been hurt by the same brutal man (Joshua Dobson), and neither of them expected to have a mate. In fact, Alex initially rejects Sean, who is Joshua's brother, out of sheer stubbornness and stupidity, and the pain that causes Sean, who has been tortured by Joshua almost to the point of death – several times, is heartbrea ...more

A very good installment. I liked how both Sean and Alex had to conquer their pasts and this is no small task. Although I'm not usually so fond of the kind of small squeakier victim who cowers here it works for Sean because he actually does have a backbone and he does use it. We were introduced to him in the last book but not with a lot of depth. I require my abused characters to grow and work on what happened. I want an upward spiral once things start going well (they get rescued, find their tru ...more

At the beginning, this story was very sad.
The abused poor Sean suffered under his horrible brother Joshua was terrible.
After those first chapters the story concentrated on the 2 main characters. Although, once they got together it seems like they spent most of the time in their bedroom and having sex.
Surprisingly for me it was still a very good story, if you get annoyed when you read to much sex, maybe this book is not for you, in my case I just concentrate more in the story line and the issu

But before they get there he makes a shocking discovery, one he's not sure he can handle. I did like Alex. I felt like he wanted his mate, but didn't want to want him because of who he is. I UNDERSTOOD his reasoning. I always knew that he would be there for him, even in the beginning when he was being an ass. I actually didn't care for Marcus and Nathan ganging up on him though. If I were Alex I would have left. Then at the end when Alex was freaking out over Sean and Alex says "you wouldn't be if that was your mate out there" then Marcus gets in his face. Why? Because what Alex said ...more
This is definitely the best of the series though they all got good ratings from me. This one is shorter than the rest but just as valuable as the others.
There's just nothing original in this book. It's predictable and the characters aren't very compelling. Not much to the plot either.
This was the weakest of this otherwise outstanding series. There wasn't enough of a story line. If you took the sex out, the book would have been 75% shorter! The big pros of the previous books weren't really present either (those being primary character depth and development, secondary characters, etc). I lost interest a few times. I read the other books in a day, but this one took me several days because I kept putting it down to focus on other things.
You can read it anyways just to pass the

Another great one for the series, one shifter, Alex, who feels he screwed up in a big way and put the Alpha Anax in harm's way and wants to make things right, be the hero, or both, one shifter, Sean, who believes he is a screw up and nothing good will ever come his way.

Sean is the brother of the shifter who targeted Marcus and almost succeeded, but Sean took risks while Marcus was captured, bringing him food and water and suffering beatings at the hands of his brother when it was discovered. Ale

This book was reviewed for Musings of a bookworm and will be part of a special on the books so far in this series.

This book ticked loads of boxes for me and I loved that the intensity from the previous books was kept up in this one. I also liked that this was the continuation of the story that has run through the first books. Alex id a very confused man and learning his mate is the brother of the enemy is a bit much for him but he is a good man and so is his mate so they work it out and, as wit
About 3.5 stars. I didn't like this book quite as much as the last book because it took me a while to warm up to Alex for some reason. Alex ran off at the end of the last book with feelings of guilt and being a failure weighing down on him. He blamed himself for the disappearance of the Alpha Anax and decides that he can redeem himself by finding the men responsible. Frankly, he was a bit of a whiny, pouty, baby. But I guess it's a good thing he ran off since he ends of meeting his mate. Yes, in ...more

Pretty angsty for a series that has been primarily focused on the sexual aspect of the mated pairs. Sean suffered so much at his brother's hands and I hurt for him and what he'd undergone. I didn't care for Alex and while I appreciate that he too was hurt by Joshua my reaction was more of a 'Yeah, and?' rather than the sympathetic response it was supposed to engender. Others have mentioned and I agree that the big showdown was more of a fizzle than a bang. I assume Harley's involvement in such d ...more

On a mission to prove himself, Alex Morgan finds more than he bargained for in this mesmerizing m/m shifter romance. Sean knows his brother will be coming for him and the suspense and drama adds spice to the story that already has some humor, friendship, drama and passion and along with the charming characters keeps readers well entertained and ensure that the reader falls in love with each and every one of them.

A fast moving, angst filled story. I liked Sean from the start but not so much Alex...he tended to be a little whiny for my liking and when he wanted to reject his mate because of who his brother was...well I thought Alpha Marcus should have decked him.

Once Alex got his head on straight and accepted his mate, his attitude changed and I liked him better but then there was entirely too much sex and not enough plot in the middle of the story.

I liked seeing Marcus, Nathan and some of the previous c

I enjoy shifter series and this was very entertaining. I bought the first 4 books (out of the 9 that are out). Hot men, hot sex and interesting stories.

My only issue is they are full price at but are novellas so I don't feel I am getting my money's worth. I will buy the rest of the series if the price comes down but there are too many other shifter series that are just as entertaining that are a better value for the money - in my opinion.
An angst-filled read (mostly in the first half) where two men, one physically abused and one sexually abused, with both being mentally abused, find a new life together when they discover they are mates. Of course, things don't run all that smoothly, and their abuser still threatens their new-found happiness. This story also has more than a few sex scenes which I found a bit repetitive. Overall, an average but not bad read.
A very nice addition to the series. At the beginning the characters are a bit hard to like but as you read on readers can really see them in a new light. Joshua and Alex's back story was an intriguing read and I liked that that didn't blemish their personality and they could recover from such horrors.
The four part in this series was well written and pulling enough. I liked both bounded mates. But I have to admit, the sex scene at the end was a bit to much. The plot would be better without it it really wasn't necessarily.
I loved this fourth book. I foubd that it became a little sex concentrated towards the end, but the story in itself wasn't that bad.
I'm getting back into this series and I'm glad I'm getting caught up! I really enjoyed this one, I really liked the characters.

My imagination almost made me throw up at the begginig of this book, that part with those ants was... creepy.

I am a married mom of four who spends most of the day writing, either on stories or at the blog. I love to write as much as I love to read. I am generally quiet and laid back, choosing to let things slide off me rather than stick and irritate me.

And it's really hard trying to think of descriptives for myself, so I'll just let y'all e-mail me or comment at the blog if there'
