I'm still amazed that people can come up with palindromes, but there they are. You would think that it'd be impossible to find words or sentences that are spelled the same backwards and forwards, but Agee's got a whole series of these books going. His illustrations are so cute and funny too, you get a sense that these books bridge the gap between comics for kids and esoteric New Yorker comics for high-brow adults. As a child, this book had single-handedly been my introduction to the mystical wordplay of palindromes. Palindromes have become rather commonplace by now (comedian Demetri Martin wrote a 224-word palindrome), but Agee's collection is uniquely accessible with illustrations that clearly form sense out of some completely nonsensical palindromes, such as "Neptune nut pen." Agee's book of palindromes is one of the most entertaining reads i've had in a while. read it forward or backward, the funky illustrations and dynamic diction are sure to rock your socks.
