A NOTE TO FUTURE-MARK:
Do not try to downgrade the stars on this review! I know how you think, so don't try any of your little rationalizing excuses or tricks. You know this novella was enjoyable so don't front and don't try to rewrite history. You liked this. 3 stars means You Liked This. Don't try to pretend otherwise.

What a refreshing story! Deorwynn, the main character, is nothing like any other female heroine. She’s naughty, feisty, saucy, with a great sense of curiosity and daring. She’s not weak though she has a tender side that she tries to hide at all costs, mainly from the male protagonist, Guy Devaux.
Guy is a boy, turning into a man. He’s in his twenties and life for him is all about fun and taking as many women he can, until he meets Deo...more

This is the book you pick up if you like a little medieval history woven in with your scorching hot romance. The premise had me curious so I got this. It was a light romp in some ways, but spent a great deal of time with the hero and heroine hot and heavy.
Deorwynn has been told by the nuns that now that her father is dead and there is no hope of a husband she must take her vows. The trouble is that Deorwynn is a feisty and lusty Saxon lady in the new England of the Conqueror. Another girl at the...more

Normally I don't like historical romances..
This is set in England at the time of the Norman conquest over the Saxons
our heroine is in a convent and is being forced to become a nun.. her family have all been killed by the invaders except one brother who is in prison
One of the girls at the convent is getting married and asks her to be her handmaiden
But she has a secret
She needs to prove that she is a virgin on her wedding night

4.5 out of 5. This is really a story that is in the style of the old English historicals that were really popular several decades ago and which are now making a comeback. The ancient angers that kept Saxons and Normans apart for generations are alive and well in this story. It is a tale that is full of color and pagentry, mixtures of kindness and cold-hearted brutality, loyalty and betrayal, goodness and greed. It is the story of a woman whose heart is bruised by the realities of a possible futu...more
I'm not sure where to start on this HR novella. I really thought from the premise that I was going to like this book. Unfortunately, it just didn't work for me. Quite honestly the "Hero" was a childish, selfish, egotistical, jerk from beginning to end. I didn't care for him in the slightest and the heroine really didn't garner any sympathy from me at all. Maybe if the story had been longer the author would have been able to humanize these characters but alas it didn't happen for me. The sex to m...more

This was the first story in the series - I read the second story first but it didn't matter. I really like the way Georgia Fox writes. It moves quickly and very interestingly.
Lady Sibilia is to be married, however, she is not a virgin and in fact is already pregnant. She devises a plan for another to take her place on the wedding night. Deorwynn is a virgin and sees this as an opportunity to escape Thd convent. She is of noble heritage but this is not known by others.

Deorwynn of wexford has lived in the covent since she was 6 and always caused trouble. She never listened and believed she would not die in this covent a virgin. She was going to escape and find a man because she had nothing to give to a man because her land was taken away by the Norman swine as she called them. Sybilia another girl in the covent was betrothed to an arrogant Norman Lord as the stories were told of him. But this lord requested that she be a virgin, Sybilia was no longer a virgin...more

The Conqueror's series continues with The Virgin Proxy, which carries on Georgia Fox's tradition of wickedly spicy novellas with a menage twist! However, where as book one seemed a bit more hurried and focused more on the (very heated) sex between the characters, TVP lingers more on the budding relationship and a longer storyline.

The positive points:
The romance was fiery, showcasing the wildness of both the hero and the heroine. Their physical attraction was clear, and Georgia Fox's descriptions of their sex were varied and vivid, with period-appropriate terminology which added to the atmosphere. The pacing was strong, and the book did not flag. The ending was satisfying, with Deorwynn well-settled into her new life, enjoying her new love. The growth of Guy was equally enjoyable, and his behavior was consistent and belie...more

I liked this story much more than I thought I would. There were some parts that I didn't agree with but all in all it was a fun read.
Sybilia is Guy Devaux betrothed, ordered by their Norman king. She lives in a convent with Deorwynn, a Saxon and proud Norman heater. When it was time for Sybilia to marry Guy she enlists Deorwynn help. Sybilia isn't a virgin, and lucky for her Deorwynn is. She makes a deal with Deorwynn to take her place on the wedding night and fool Guy. He notices the switch rig...more

The Virgin Proxy by Georgia Fox
What a wonderful story. It’s a first for me by this author but by far not the last. I really enjoyed her writing style and it was so easy to read. There was a bit of slap and tickle in the story…literally. The characters were so funny and by far the best lines in the story… “I didn’t do it. It wasn’t me” followed by the word “bubbies”.
I enjoy reading about this time period which as around 1081. The story mentioned it was 15 years past the battle of Hastings which w...more

Oh My Gosh, this book was awesome. It was romantic, sweet, erotic and funny all rolled into one. Georgia Fox really out did herself on this book and I love the cover. I enjoyed reading the back and forth banter between to the two characters and them trying to figure out who knew what and which lies to keep up with. The author also leaves little mysteries throughout the story that all comes together very nicely towards the end. Watching the lies and games slowly turn into love was the sweetest th...more

Sexist, predictable and cheesy, but a slightly different setting and setup than I am was familiar with. The romance build up took too long and then bam, way too fast. He kept treating her like crap and we're supposed to be impressed that he accepted her talking back in the way he wouldn't accept it from anyone else. but that's not what I read this crap for. The sex scenes were okay but way too short and just not enough emotion in them for me. If they were longer, they would be hot enough to rais...more

There is something to be said for a opinionate wench, especially in a historical romance. Deorwynn is no simpering woman to obey the commands of a man, while as a woman she may not have a lot of choices she has enough and she’ll make them work for her. She never whines about her fate but instead takes what fate gives her and enjoys her life to the best of her ability.
Guy is like most men in history taking what he wants, thinking it’s de...more

I've read this before, and now that I'm not squeamish with some of the scenes, I can now enjoy more the story. I like these type of stories, where the female have some kind of unrequited love but later finds out that the guy loves him also. Guy's debauchery is somehow off-putting at some parts, but their first night with Deorwynn is super hot. Sylvia?'s treachery isn't solve at this story and I would like her to be punished for her devious plans. Anyway, I enjoyed this story, and the next part o...more
Romance it is pretty much not...
I still don't get where they fell in love, cuz all I noticed is instant lust...
And the last part, where she was testing him and he was testing himself, I really don't get how that proved that he loves her.. Really, he sees someone else going at it with her, caring only about whether she'll get pregnant from that and pufff we see he loves her?
Something is wrong with that logic.. but than again, I never got the manege thing so maybe that's me not getting it..

If you like your historical setting to be fake, this may be the novella for you. Why writing an historical, if you are not using historical facts is something I'm not sure I understand, though :)
The presence of quite a confused hero and a weird menage add to the strange reading experience. I'm not sure what this book wanted to be, historical, romance, erotica, without being exactly any of those.

This was more fun than I expected. Usually, the whole Norman/Saxon theme is wrought with more violence than humor and sass. A lot of smexy action going on including some voyeurism and spanking in this entertaining gem. Plus there were a bunch of subtle elements of the time that were well done and unobtrusive.
Loved it!! Super hot, super arrogant lord of the castle takes what he wants and buggers the rest of them. NICE! Serioulsy thought this was a pretty sexy book, if you are looking for a steamy read, read this.
Phew I need a shower.

There was no instant love but instead an instant dislike that was confused by the electricity arcing between Deorwynn and Guy. Needless to say this made for some really good and fun dialogue. Everything was well paced even the passion, never allowing you to get bored but
not going so fast that you get thrown out of the plot. I was so enthralled with this book and the characters that I hated to see it end. I look forward to the next book involving Deorwynn’s brother.

Georgia Fox lives in the countryside on twenty peaceful acres. Harsh in the winter, but heavenly in the summer. She loves good company, good movies, good books and excellent brandy. She enjoys sun in the mornings, but in the late afternoon it makes her sad. Her favorite kind of holiday is a cabin surrounded by woods on a private tidal cove. In her life she’s done a little bit of everything and som...more
