Like the other books in the series, the plot isn’t terribly unique, but Ms. Banks has taken what would have been predictable, fleshed it out, tweaked it and made it into something distinctively hers.

About the book: Devon Carter is all about business. He’s smart, determined and power hungry, and will do whatever he has to do to continue climbing the ladder of success, even if that means marrying William Copeland’s daughter in order to secure a business merger between Tricorp and Copeland Hotels. Marrying Ashley certainly wouldn’t be a hardship; she’s beautiful, loving, and easily managed, so the way Devon sees it, it’s a win-win situation.

Ashley Copeland has been sheltered and pampered her entire life. She’s vivacious and impulsive and madly in love with Devon Carter. When Devon asks her to marry him, she’s the happiest woman in the world until, on their honeymoon, she learns that their marriage was the stipulation of a business agreement between her father and Devon. She feels betrayed, and yet, she still loves Devon, so rather than run out, she decides to stay and become the kind of woman Devon needs, even if it means losing herself.

I’m a big fan of “heroes who pull their heads out of their asses and finally see the light” stories, and this one definitely fits into that category. There is so much emotional depth to this story that I found myself holding my breath at times, waiting to see what was going to happen next, and how Devon could possibly atone for his actions. It was heartbreaking watching Ashley try to become someone she wasn’t, while at the same time seeing Devon realize that he was in love with the woman Ashley had been all along, not the woman she was becoming. Ashley started out a bit on the weak side as far as heroines go, but really did hold her own by the end of the story.

The bottom line: Tempted by Her Innocent Kiss is a story for those times when you need a little more emotional angst and something a little deeper to read. The characters are people you can believe in, care for, and cheer for as they work towards their happily ever after, and breathing a contented sigh when they finally reach it.

This one just didn't do it for me. Mostly because the storyline was a done-deal with hundreds of different variations in between. And there was nothing spectacular with this one either.

This is the third book in the series about four friends and as we've heard in the other two books Devon the hero has been handed a situation, romance the daughter of the man whose company he wants to merge with and he finds it no hardship, Ashley is sweet, impulsive and quite amazing though he does think to himself that she may have to tone it down and be a less exuberant but he enjoys her company and to bring his plan to fruition take her innocence and tops it off with a proposal, Ashley the romantic falls for it thinking that all her dreams have come true and doesn't question why Devon wants he to move in with him and get married soon.

Cold, you may think and in a way you may be right but you know about those thick-headed heroes?, who think all logically, well Devon is one of them and even when he pretends he doesn't like how affectionate Ashley is and how she calls him all the time, you know deep down he loves it. And Devon to be honest never wanted to deceive her but instead wanted to tell her the truth about the deal but her father didn't want that and Devon goes along with it, all the while during the wedding his friend Cam warns him that Ashley isn't like him and can be hurt.

Then everything blows up on their honeymoon when Ashley reads an e-mail and confronts him. Ashely was a heroine you couldn't help but like she saw the best in people and knew people saw her as naive but she really wasn't only kind-hearted and then her wedding blows up on her face and she sees through the fog of romance that had enveloped her.

She isn't impulsive then instead thinks things through, she hates what Devon has done to her but she still loves him and like her, Devon wants to make an effort to try, so she thinks she will rein in her impulses as Devon said and make him try to love her but things as we see don't go so well.

She tries to be the perfect wife, cleaning and cooking and at this moment you feel angry for her, you can see how unhappy she is and how she is suffocating her real self, all the while Devon is busy with the changes in his business and tip-toeing around her, giving her space and allowing her whatever she needs to do to cope but things become too much for Ashely and she finally decides that the only person she needs to make happy is herself and at this moment you are rooting for her.

While the dumb hero wallows in his mistakes, berating himself for his denseness and all the mistakes he has made, this has to be my favorite moment in a romance, just love it and then he tries to make up for it.

Honestly, I loved the book and can't wait for Cam's book.

They marry and then the wheels fall off when Ashley finds out exactly why Devon married her. They argue and Devon digs himself a huge hole with Ashley (and me!) by pointing out all the things that make Ashley fun and unique, making them sound bad and the reasons why he can’t and doesn’t love her. Ashley can’t just stop loving him, even after he breaks her heart, and vows to be the woman she thinks he wants her to be.

Could she make him fall in love with her? Her family always worried that she was too trusting. Too naïve. Too everything. Apparently they were right.

The only person who didn’t seem to think anything was wrong with who Ashley Copeland was, was Ashley herself. And it was becoming increasingly clearer that her judgment stank.

I was time for one hell of a makeover.

And this is where I couldn’t get behind the story. Ashley changes who she is, from her appearance, her attitude, everything to be a woman that Devon could love. Devon’s too absorbed in work to realize that Ashley is now just a shell of the woman she used to be until her friends and family start pointing out the obvious. Devon realizes a little too late that his feelings for her are much deeper than he originally thought and sets out to win her back.

I liked Ashley, I thought she was a fun character early on, full of life and love and not afraid to show it. Devon on the other hand, I just couldn’t warm up to him. It was too little too late for me when it came to him realizing how wrong he was and trying to win her back. The buildup during most of the story was a slow progression, but the ending felt a bit rushed. In a couple scenes, Devon starts voicing all his feelings for Ashley and she’s very forgiving; maybe too forgiving. I found it hard to really get into the story and truly care about the characters.

This is book 3 in Maya Banks Pregnancy and Passion series. I haven’t read the first two books and while this certainly works as a standalone story, I kept wondering how much of these two characters were included in the prior books as this book really jumps right off into their engagement. Overall, this was just an ok read for me and I’m not anxious to pick up the first two books in the series. While this story was a fast, quick read, with a heroine I liked at the start - just as she was, it’s not a story that I was able to get fully invested in.(less)

I am a devoted fan of these series-because the author somehow does the unthinkable: makes themes that were chewed over for a hundred times already seem fresh.
Sadly, this book fell a little off the mark.

Wow i must say though the series was written based on the 4 powerful men who are best friends- i love the women in the series more. Ashley reminds me a little of Byronny from the first book. When she finds out that she's pregnant, she has to decide whether that life is good enough for her and her child.

The first part of this book literally made me ache. Ashley is so trusting and effusive, and you can see her letdown coming from a mile away (much more for having read the blurb on the back). She's actually pretty immature too (changing his ringtone to sound like fairy chimes, calling him constantly, squealing, etc.). When she decided to stay with him, I was conflicted and wanted her to just talk to someone (or at least give her that manual she mentioned). That said, she was still incredibly 2-dimensional, as was Devon. I thought about giving up on this book several times.

Devon, at least, does grovel pretty well, and Ashley doesn't fight their reconciliation to an excessive extent. I enjoyed the scenes where he takes care of her, but otherwise I wasn't that impressed with his character. It's pretty typical Harlequin fare. Not sure if it's the length or the author that keeps the characters from moving me too deeply. A lot more could have been done with Devon, but Ash might be a bit too hopelessly cliche-ed.

There was also a bonus story by Brenda Jackson, who is usually a solid pick. "Never Too Late" is about Sienna and Dane, who are 12 days away from making their divorce official and end up stuck together in a snow storm. The chapters are very short (~2 pages each) which made the narrative feel very stilted to me. While we get more depth in these characters than the longer story, I had no patience for them. Maybe I could get through it in a different mood, but I just couldn't make myself finish the story this time.(less)

The end was too rushed for me. While I knew this was part of a series, I'm not sure I feel compelled to read the rest of them. One last thing - not really an impt. part of the story, but Ashley's mom bugged me. She tells this story of how she was unhappy - so she blindsided her hubby one day - kicked him out of their (lavish - paid for by his hard work!) home and decided she needed 6 months apart to find herself and decide - hey, guess what - I am happy after all! She was unhappy - a) talk to him; b) talk to a counselor; c) you move out!

There was a second story in this book by Brenda Jackson which I can't find a way to review on its own so here goes - 2* for Never Too Late by Brenda Jackson. A very short story about a couple on the verge of divorce who end up stuck together in a snow storm and (spoiler!!) make up and end up happy. From the little we get to know about this couple, I truly belive the issues in the marriage were about 90% Sienna's fault and 10% Dane's fault. There was no communication between them but still - she put her issues w/his family and her need to prove herself at work way above their relationship (and decided to file for divorce w/o ever talking to him or trying a counselor). She bugged me and he deserved better. I also hate the idea that one night of making a list of their issues and discussing them makes them all better and now things will be grand - divorce is off! Another book from NetGalley. I was feeling like reading a Harlequin and I picked this one. I have not read any book by Maya Banks, but I have heard of her and most of it was good things. Once in a while I like to pick a Harlequin romance and read it, but I usually have to be in a right mood for it.

Every chance I get, I read Maya Banks. So I was happy to pick up her Harlequin Desire, Tempted by Her Innocent Kiss. While it doesn’t satisfy as much as Ms. Banks’ romantic suspense books, it’s still a fun and emotional read.

Ashley is one of those young, effervescent, happy people. She’s been sheltered, is still a virgin, and is in love with Devon, a business associate of her father’s. So I was happy to pick up her Harlequin Desire, Tempted by Her Innocent Kiss. While it doesn’t satisfy as much as Ms. Banks’ romantic suspense books, it’s still a fun and emotional read.

Ashley is one of those young, effervescent, happy people. She’s been sheltered, is still a virgin, and is in love with Devon, a business associate of her father’s. They’re engaged to be married, and life couldn’t be any better for her. What she doesn’t know is her father has basically pushed Devon into a corner concerning the merger of their two companies. Though Devon wants to tell Ashley the truth, her father insists secrecy is the way to go. He just wants his daughter taken of. So marry her or no merger. Not a very smart move, Dad.

Devon is also in that category early on. He doesn’t love Ashley. And he doesn’t have any problem telling her that, along with the things he doesn’t like about her, that she needs to change to fit into his world. Yes, you don’t like Devon very much at this point. But you have to realize – what he doesn’t realize yet – is that he does have feelings for her, and you see that in the way he makes love to her. Though he’s in change-Ashley mode, in private they do have chemistry, even if Devon doesn’t look at it that way. It took me some thinking after finishing the book to look at it like this, and, of course, his turnabout, as always happens with a hero, helps.

But before all of that, Ashley discovers she’s pregnant and also learns of her father’s and Devon’s deal. Devastated, she is determined to be the wife Devon wants. We lose the happy, young woman who we met at the beginning of this book. In personality, dress, attitude, everything about her changes, exactly what Devon wants. However, she can only do this for so long. Ashley knows she can’t be someone else for anyone. She’s happy with who she is, and if that isn’t enough for Devon, well, he doesn’t deserve her.

It’s when Ashley leaves him that Devon realizes he does love her. He actually misses all those things he’s told her wants to change about her. Her bubbly personality, her whimsical clothing, and her constant smile have been imprinted on his heart and he wants them in his life again. He also know he’ll have to win her back so they can start their family together. For some folks Devon might give too little too late, but sometimes that’s how it goes in romance. It’s the fact he knows what he’s done wrong and he wants to remedy that mistake, do what it takes to make it up to Ashley that counts in this instance.

I’m actually surprised I feel this way about the story. Usually a young character such as Ashley will rub me the wrong way. It’s an age thing. As the years go by I prefer older characters, but I know I’m not going to get them as often as I’d like. Ms. Banks saves the day for me in this case, her deft hand at creating likable and sympathetic characters is always a treat. So Ashley does work for me, especially when she tries to change as Devon wants, becoming the wife he think he needs. Those scenes are quite emotional when she’s at war with herself. Devon does have to grow on you for most of the book. It’s his insatiable desire for Ashley that keeps him in a good light, because I know he’ll realize what he’s lost in the end.

This is not my favorite Maya Banks book, but it’s one that makes you think, makes you take a second look because of life’s mistakes and how you own up to those errors. A nice read for a couple of hours one afternoon.

I was looking forward to reading this book, I really enjoyed the first two books in Maya Bank's Pregnancy & Passion Mini Series (Enticed by His Forgotten Lover & Wanted by Her Lost Love).

I have to be honest and say that I didn't enjoy this one as much as the previous two, but this is still very much an enjoyable book.

I am a big fan of Maya Banks. I’ve read most but not all of her books, and I’m always amazed that she’s able to write so many different stories that manage to draw the reader in so well. I particularly like her category romances, because she’s very adept at taking familiar tropes and making them fresh and new. I loved the first two books in her Pregnancy & Passion series for Harlequin’s Silhouette Desire line, so I was thrilled to see the third book available for review on NetGalley. Unfortunately, the hero and heroine just didn’t work for me this time, but the book is still better than many category romances I’ve read recently, so if you’re a fan of marriage of convenience stories, this might be a book you would enjoy.

Devon Carter is a successful businessman who works with his three closest friends constructing and managing resorts. When he’s approached by the owner of a large, family-owned company about merging their companies, the owner of the company suggests that they make marriage to his daughter, Ashley, a secret condition of the deal. Devon objects to keeping the conditions secret, but once he meets bubbly, beautiful Ashley, he has no other objections and agrees to pursue and marry her.

Ashley is bowled over by the sophisticated Devon, and she falls head over heels in love with him. She’s a successful businesswoman of 23, but her family is highly protective of the charming, effervescent young woman. When she discovers on their honeymoon that her father arranged her marriage to Devon as part of a business deal, she’s devastated but quickly determines to work to save her marriage. But the cost of being who Devon wants her to be is too high, and we’re left wondering if he’ll learn to appreciate the treasure he’s got before she slips away.

The main problem I had with Tempted by Her Innocent Kiss is Ashley. Frankly, I found her really annoying. Everyone loves Ashley, because she’s so charming and bubbly, but she’s also impetuous and flighty, traits that Devon points out to her early on (and isn’t THAT a charming habit you’d want in your husband). I was a little disturbed that she was so eager to change who she was in order to save her marriage, especially after her husband and father had deceived her. She does wise up later in the book and decide that she’s had enough, but I just didn’t understand why a successful businesswoman (and really, how successful could she be at 23?) would be willing to change her personality for someone else. However, I COULD find it believable that a 23 year old would do so, and that someone so sheltered would react as she did, which is why I didn’t completely discount her character.

I never could get a grasp on who Devon was, though. Frankly, he comes off as a bit of a jerk, especially since he criticizes the parts of Ashley’s personality that everyone seems to like the most. It left me wondering if he really did love her or only married her because of the merger. At one point we’re told that his family life growing up was bad and that he had to work his way to where he is now, but that was the extent of the background information about him.

There were sparks between Ashley and Devon, but because of the difference in their personalities – he’s straight-laced, she’s a free spirit – I kept wondering how successful their marriage would be. The resolution attempts to address this somewhat, but I felt it was a little too late to save the rest of the book.

Overall the book is well written, flows well, and definitely draws you in as a reader. I suspect that my annoyance with Ashley’s being so bubbly and perky says more about my personality (I’m cranky and hate perky people?) than it does about the book. As I stated earlier, if you like category romances that feature a marriage of convenience, I think you would enjoy Tempted by Her Innocent Kiss, because the focus of the book is how Ashley works to create a successful marriage. Unfortunately Devon doesn’t participate in the process until too late in the book for my taste.

No, I'm not kidding about that last part. She is so helpless she has to ask the "hero" to open a wine bottle for their dinner because she CAN'T FIGURE IT OUT.

Meanwhile, the hero (who for the sake of this review we will call Douchecanoe). Oh, Mr. Douchecanoe. You see, he rilllllllly wants to merge his business with the hotel business of Lady Fails-a-lot's father. Daddy dearest says sure, just marry my useless (albeit decorative) daughter, and business is go. Trouble is, he's a Very Serious Douchecanoe, and Ashley is a Troublesome Free Spirit. You know, the usual businessman/flighty lady conflict.

Actually, I feel a little bad for Sir Douchecanoe. Ashley is an idiot. I mean, full stop. She's a like six year old girl in the body of an adult. Everything she does is in full hyper-sparkle mode - until of course she gets her heart broken at which point she develops a spine and moves to San Francisco and joins a lesbian commune - oh wait, no, that's another book. She instead decides to become a perfect little docile housewife because somehow that will make M. le Douchecanoe love her.

From this point on it's pretty predictable - Ashley martyrs herself, Senor Douchecanoe realizes he's a big old meanie (once she's pregnant, anyways), and they move to the country because you CAN'T RAISE A FAMILY IN THE CITY. NEVER. YOUR CHILDREN WILL BE AXE-MURDERERS. GAY AXE MURDERERS.

Does Daddy Dearest get away with it? Oh yes, because she knows he was just trying to look out for her. Gag. Does Douchecanoe-san ever stop treating her like a small, fragile child? Bien sur que non.

Highlight of the book: Ashley finding out her marriage is a sham by accidentally smacking her hand (while TWIRLING) into Herr Douchecanoe's laptop, and knocking the battery out. She figures out how to put the battery back in, but doesn't "understand" computers (or birth control. or breathing. or anything) and "presses buttons" until "lots of programs" appear, one of them being the .pdf of the contract her cher Papa made le Comte de Douchecanoe sign re: marrying her.

I fucking love romance, but jesus h christ, this book is why we can't have nice things.(less)

During the night she tries to figure out what she is going to go, leave and get a divorce or change her character and try to make her marriage work. Devon never wanted to hurt Ashley and wanted to tell her out right about the deal that he made with her father. He cares for Ashley and respects her and he really thought they would have a companionable marriage. After their short honeymoon, because of Ashley's massive migraine, and he was done taking care of her until she felt better, things start getting back on track... or so he thinks... A little a at time he starts noticing changes in Ashley, she cleaned there apartment to sparkling clean, she is learning how to cook, taking charge of a business party to announce her fathers retirement, changes her appearance, etc.
After some time Ashley finds out she is pregnant and that the way she has been lately isn't the way she wants to be even for the man she loves and that she wanted to be herself to raise her child, and decides she is going to leave Devon.
Devon is excited when Ashley tells him she is pregnant, but is totally knock off balance when she tells him that she wants a divorce. That she wants to be with someone that loves her the way she is and doesn't try to change her. After she leaves his office and a few weeks without getting in touch with her, he realizes that he loves her... And tries everything in is power to let her know he loves her and that he doesn't want her to change and wants to be with her forever...

I liked Ashley's character. She is tenderhearted, loves working at her Animal Shelter, excitable, all her family & friends adore her, and she lights up a room where ever she goes. And after finding out her father's deal with Devon she finds the guts to change herself and try to make her marriage work. But in the end after talking to her friends, knew it wouldn't last because she likes the person she was and finds the courage to end her marriage to the man she loves, so she didn't have to change even knowing it wouldn't be easy.

Devon's character was one of the better hero in a Harlequin Romance book that I have read. He wasn't nearly as bull-headed and a total jerk like other hero's I have read. He doesn't believe in love, because from what I can tell he was never exposed to it. It seemed he didn't have a great childhood with his family since he is uncomfortable around Ashley's close-knitted family. And though he wasn't sure of his feelings for Ashley you could tell he really cared about her and wanted to make sure she was happy, and he really regretted the things he said in regards to her character. And though it took her leaving him to find out he loved her he didn't try to reject it or debate it like other hero's in some of the other Harlequin books I have read.

I really did enjoy this story and thought Maya Banks did a good job in making this story flow without it seeming long in some parts of the story. It flowed really well together that I didn't have to set it down and take a break and come back to it later. So if you enjoy Harlequin Romances I do recommend this one,(less)

Devon is a shrewd businessman, full of ambition and drive. He is in this relationship not because he followed his heart so much as his bottom line. But what makes Maya Banks so wonderful is that even with a set up like this, where the reader goes in knowing he won’t be completely honest, you still end up caring about him. He may not have initially appreciated all the wonderful things about Ashley that we as the readers do, but he is kind to her, he does care for her, he does try to protect her. He is gentle and passionate and hurting in his own way. I love that no one in this story is one hundred percent right or wrong, good or bad—just like real life. Devon and Ashley both make mistakes, and they both go through a tremendous amount of growth.

TEMPTED BY HER INNOCENT KISS begins right in the middle of the action, completely sucking you in. I never once felt lost or confused, but eager to discover all I could about the characters, their shared history, and where I thought they should go in the future…not that my opinion would’ve changed squat. Luckily, where they end up is everything I could’ve asked for and more.
Devon and Ashley’s story is book 3 in this series, and I am excited to now go back and catch up. I recommend TEMPTED BY HER INNOCENT KISS for all fans of romance, for readers who enjoy fresh and authentic characters coming into their own skin, and for anyone looking for some steamy scenes between the sheets. Then join me in checking out book one, ENTICED BY HIS FORGOTTEN LOVER, book two, WANTED BY HER LOST LOVE, and book four, UNDONE BY HER TENDER TOUCH coming May 1st, featuring two of my favorite characters from this novel.

Maya Banks’s Sweet series will always hold a special place in my heart and on my Kindle, but I may’ve just found a new series of hers to be my favorite.

I am a modern american woman, so the thought of an arranged marriage, or a business arrangement marriage does not sit well with me at all. I think most women today would agree. In Tempted by Her Innocent Kiss, Ashley is completely ignorant of Devon's ulterior motives in marrying her. As Devon continues his deception, I dislike him more and more. Ashley is a bright, energetic, caring woman, the complete opposite to Devon. She comes across very naive at times, and I just wanted Ashley to see the situation, gain confidence, and take the arrogant man down.

Unfortunately, Ashley's response to the deception is not what I had hoped. Her response is very emotional, compelling, and fully believable. However, I so wanted her to act differently. After the emotional blow, Ashley changes, and not for the better. It takes quite a bit of time for Ashley to finally stand up for herself, and for Devon to fully realize the damage he caused. I was a bit disappointed, I felt the resolution was too little, too late. To me, the conclusion of the story felt bittersweet. The situation is resolved, but I was still unhappy with Devon, and his character was not fully redeemed in my eyes.

I enjoyed reading Tempted by Her Innocent Kiss. Ashley is a very likable, real character and I was pleased with her character's development (even if it did take longer than I would have liked). The story moved quickly for me, I identified with the characters, and I felt the gamut of emotions that ranged throughout the book. I rate Tempted by Her Innocent Kiss 3 stars, it is a pretty good read overall.

*Note* Tempted by Her Innocent Kiss is book 3 in a series, however it can be read as a stand alone. I have not read the other books in the series, and I had no trouble following the story line or learning about the characters.

Never to Late by Brenda Jackson

The e-galley review copy I read included a short story by Brenda Jackson. In Never to Late, Sienna and Dane are a couple on the verge of divorce. When a snow storm traps them in a cabin together, alone, they are forced to communicate. The pair manage to work out the problems with their relationship and salvage their relationship.

I really liked this short story. The communication breakdown between the couple is easy to identify with. They are able to put aside hurts and identify their problems, and their reconciliation is sweet and steamy at the same time. This is a great bonus read, it is short but well-written and fits the tone of the book. This short story by itself gets a 4 star rating from me.

Tempted by Her Innocent Kiss started out on a very slow note. But from the moment Devon and Ashley says their ‘I Do’s”, Maya brings in the angst and the overload of emotion that holds on to you until you see Devon and Ashley to their happily ever after.

Ashley is the type of heroine that we come across very rarely in romance novels oft late, a time when authors strive to go for the type of heroines who are independent and on a self-proclaimed war to prove themselves to be as competent as the opposite sex. Ashley is the sweet and sunny type of heroine who just makes you smile whenever she comes into the story. Her naivety is not surprising given the fact that she has led a sheltered life, loved for who she is by everyone that surrounds her. But being rejected for who she is by the only man she has fallen in love with leaves its own mark on her and Ashley gives everything she has to make her marriage to Devon work.

Devon is a hero who is a bit bewildered in the face of chaotic emotions. He is all about control and whenever Ashley is around, control of his emotions and surroundings is the furthest thing that he is capable of. Devon remains clueless even when he begins to lose the woman that at first drew him to her, the woman whose exuberant nature he starts to miss even though he doesn’t know what it is that he actually craves for. Devon is a lost soul who only begins to find his way towards the woman who makes him feel on top of the world a trifle bit too late, and from then on Devon does the grovelling bit like everything else he does, with dedication and utter focus, his sole aim to win back his wife and never ever let her go.

From reading this review one might think that Devon is a heartless SOB, but far from it. Devon is a character you fall in love because of those little things through which he shows his caring and love towards his wife even when he is not ready to show or acknowledge the depth of his feelings towards her. He might want to bury his head in the sand and forget the roller coaster ride his emotions take whenever he sees abject hurt on Ashley’s face, but he hurts right along and wants nothing more than to erase all her sorrows and see a smile upon her face. For those reasons alone, Devon is a character worth giving over your heart to and I found myself doing just that before half way through the story.

A wonderful addition to the Pregnancy and Passion series, Tempted by Her Innocent Kiss is a novel recommended for those who love quick, short and sweet reads with a lot of angst and toe curling passion in the mix. Cannot wait for Cam’s story to come out as he sounds exactly like my type of hero.

He just has to marry the daughter of the man whose company he wants to merge with his. Nice plan, it’s just too bad an innocent woman who knows nothing about it is in the middle. I really wanted to hate our hero for this lesson in idiocy, but throughout the story readers are shown that Devon isn’t really a bad guy and he really does love his bride to be, come wife. Devon thinks he needs to change his wife to make her the perfect partner for him; he doesn’t realize what a treasure she already is until it is too late. Devon loves his wife just the way she is, he just hasn’t figured it out yet and it was enthralling to watch him discover his true feelings for Ashley.

Ashley Copeland is an optimistic and effervescent woman who loves deeply and innocently. She was a character that immediately stole my heart with her zest for life and exuberant personality. I felt every emotion she portrayed throughout the story and my heart broke for her when it seemed her dreams of happily ever after were not coming true. Ash was one of those characters that I totally empathized with and wanted her to be happy so badly. I wanted to protect her from Devon right from the beginning and watching her trying to transform herself to what she believed Devon wanted just made me mad. I cheered for her when she discovered she doesn’t need to be anything but what she is. Ashley was such a wonderful character with depth and spirit.

Ms. Banks’ prose is sweet and charming in this romantic story of deception and its effects on a relationship. This story was fast paced in the beginning and moved rather relaxed throughout however I did find there were times when it dragged. Nothing significant but the conflict was somewhat repetitive. Ashley needs to be what her husband wants in order to gain his love and Devon doesn’t know what he wants until it is gone. Ms. Banks pens dialogue that is authentic for her characters and kept this story progressing at a leisurely pace. The plot was beautifully written displaying the characters growth throughout. The ending was sweet and satisfying leaving me with a smile on my face and lightness in my heart for the characters and their happy ending.

Maya Banks has written a charming romance with characters that tug the heartstrings of her readers. Tempted by Her Innocent Kiss is a lovely story that will have readers searching for more tasty treats by Ms. Banks.(less)

This "married-for-a-business-deal" novel has its moments, but overall I felt let down by the heroine.

In Never Too Late
Sienna marrage will be over in two weeks time. She goes to their cabin to take all her stuff out of it, because Devon gets the cabin in the divorce.
Devon goes to the cabin because he left something their a couple of weeks ago and wants it before the big snow storm comes.
Devon is not happy that she is their too. Sienna wants to know if he came alone when he stayed their and what he left.
Sienna looks out and a blizzard of snow did not hold out for the next day it was here now. They dont have a lot of food to last a few days they might be stuck their.
