Lieutenant Eve Dallas is no party girl, but she's managing to have a reasonably good time at the celebrity-packed bash celebrating "The Icove Agenda," a film based on one of her famous cases. It's a little spooky seeing the actress playing her, who looks as though she could be her long...more

I never knew how much I looked forward to the chase scenes, shootings, stabbing and all the other excitement that permeated these books, until I read this one. I never thought I would find myself saying that an Eve Dallas book could be boring, but this one was.

Eve, Roarke and Dehlia have been invited to the party that is celebrating the the movie (vid) "The Icove Agenda". While there, nasty words are exchanged between the actress playing Peabody and almost everyone who is at the party. Naturally...more

SUMMARY (50 word or less)

J.D. Robb (aka Nora Roberts) wrote another stellar tale in the Eve Dallas series (in Death series). This story was intended to be less heavy than the last and a slightly more than average case. I wasn’t blow away by i...more

A very good installment in the Death series. Eve is completely authentic as a tough police woman, but I like that Roarke sees her in a more intimate way as his wife. Yet he embraces her as a strong woman and stands by her side. That's a good man! The mystery was good, although it did drag a bit towards the end. Still, it was an excellent book despite that fact.

Overall rating: 4.5/5.0 stars.

I'm glad I re-read Origin in Death before Celebrity in Death. It probably wasn't strictly necessary, but having the details fresh in my mind added on an extra layer of fun for me. Anywho, I practically stood on the front porch waiting for the UPS guy and promptly devoured the book in about two hours. Probably going to re-read parts before bed.

So what to tell you? Well, the person I thought did it didn't, Eve gets another mag coat, and there are some terrific Peabody/McNab moments. Nadine also g...more

As I’ve talked about many times before on the blog, the In Death books are my all time favorite series. The newest installment, Celebrity in Death by J.D. Robb, is no exception! It releases today, and fans of the series should definitely expect an awesome addition to Eve & Roarke’s adventures.

Now, as long time fans know, these books are oftentimes pretty much the same. I obviously don’t mean that as an insult – I just mean that we basically know what to expect by now. J.D. Robb definitely ga...more

Another amazing installment of my favorite series!! It was an interesting case with an interesting twist on the murderer. Celebrity was quite a bit lighter than the previous NYTD, but didn't we all need that? Didn't Eve and Roarke need that? Yes, on both counts. Lots of very sweet E&R moments...very much loved the "coffee discussion" and the beginning of Chapter 18...hell, make that the whole chapter, was nothing short of awesome. I also loved the continuity of the coats:)Enjoy!

I really enjoyed this outing. It was far less dark than when Eve has to run after active serial killers with special m.o.s - (view spoiler)[well, the murder here wasn't the first one for the killer either, but he turned out to be an opportunity killer - if you didn't "cross" him, he didn't kill (hide spoiler)].

What was the most fun was that because of the plot - Eve being confronted with a movie team making a movie out of Nadine Furst's book about the Icove clone case - she met all those actors...more

I love this series. We know this. These characters are charming, witty and marvelous to spend time with. I very much wish that I wasn't now caught up with the series, as now I'm left with no more books to dive into (for now).

With that being said, I have to honestly say this was one of the books in the series I've liked least, possibly the worst for me. I have enjoyed Eve mellowing out over the series, but still retaining her bitchy core. BUT, some of the things that are being played out for all...more

Good installment to the 'In Death' series. After 34 books, the reader pretty much knows the routine of what they are getting in the murder mysteries. The difference here is in the regular characters involved; and their interplay and verbal byplay with each other, especially Eve and Roarke; and Eve and Peabody.

This entry to the series begins near the end of a movie based on Nadine Furst's book being filmed about the Icove murders. There is almost a 'Clue' like setting as all the characters of the...more

Celebrity in Death once again finds Lt. Eve Dallas, of the NYPSD, in the middle of a hot button murder investigation. When the actress portraying Detective Delia Peabody is found murdered, it is up to Eve to figure out who the killer was and what the motivation was. The Icove Agenda is a film based on one of Eve's more famous cases, and was written by Nadine Furst the reporter who gets a...more

This is another great In Death book. I liked the coat too. I'm totally with Eve on the shoes and clothes, if it's not comfortable why kill yourself trying to wear it. Great sense of humor scenes, some verbal kicking A, liked the gag reel, and of course the characters were great. Another book on the keeper shelf, but In Death books are obvious keepers. I liked the twist toward the end and am never exactly sure how it'll turn out. Gotta Love It!!! ENJOY!

I seem to be in the minority on my opinion of this book. I'm a huge fan of Nora Roberts and the In Death series. Huge. But I felt this installment was lacking. There was no action at all and little emotion. Maybe I'm just getting bored with the series, but I was disappointed. I judge a book by how easy it is to put it down and it took me 3 days to read it when normally I get through an In Death in less than a day.

It's been a really solid high 3-stars, but just the virtual reality race with Roarke may get it four. :-) Their interactions throughout really "make" these books for me. Humor, sexy, trusting. Purrrfect--which, of course, doesn't exist in real life. Still....

Yup...maybe because of a few specific scenes/conversations...4 stars.

P.S. It IS time for Dallas and Summerset to display (I don't insist on acknowledge :-) more appreciation of one another (because it already is VERY clear that they...at a m...more

This 34th installation of "In Death" series, it's about a movie adaptation of a case from Origin turned out to be a suicide-turned-murder. Similar with Witness, the suspects were actors/actresses and the victim was hated by all.

The humor was back in this one - how the characters awkwardly interacted with their movie-conterparts, funny remarks of Peabody and Eve, smart-mouthing of Eve and Roarke, bitchiness of Nadine and Eve, and some more. The suspect was revealed in the middle of the book alrea...more

I did another back to back reading of an author I love recently.

JD Robb has come to be one of my favorite crime authors. Her “In Death” series boasts 36 (soon to be 37) full length novels, 2 novellas, and 9 stories included in anthologies since Naked in Death was first published back in 1995.

It’s taken some time but I can happily say that I have read all but one of her books (the most recent being my only missing one). The individual stories can stand alone as singular great novels, but reading...more

Nora Roberts does not disappoint me when I'm looking for a good mystery/romance. Her J.D. Robb books are set in the near future and the relationship between Dallas and Roarke is always well done. I haven't read one of the "In Death" books in a while, but felt "at home" when I picked this one up. The mystery revolves around the death of an actress playing Peabody for a movie based on a true case that Dallas and Peabody solved. Dealing with the death of someone that looked so much like one of thei...more

I really feel a kind of bond with this series. :) Really really love it.

Sementara itu sehari setelahnya PA (private investig...more

I've been reading Dallas/Roarke almost since they first put in an appearance in paperack at my local Waldenbooks, and I have most of the books. But now they come out in hardcover first, and let's face it, in today's economy, $27.95 is a good chunk of change even if the author is pretty much guaranteed. I didn't care for the last In Death book, New York to Dallas, so for me she's no longer a sure thing. (I may need to give it another try, since I hate giving up on a book.)

Can you believe this is...more

Following the highly sensationalized Icove investigation, Hollywood has come to New York to make a movie based on Nadine Furst's book about Lieutenant Eve Dallas' biggest bust. As cast and their real-life counterparts from the investigation share an evening, murder comes to visit upon one of the celebrity guests. Dallas and her partner Peabody must sort through the soiree's guests to find the murderer.

As with most J.D. Robb (aka Nora Roberts) In Death series, there is a limited pool of suspects,...more

J.D. Robb's sci fi murder series starring the wonderful Eve Dallas was my C book. I'm reading books by alphabetical order and I am very pleased with my C book.

This book has Eve Dallas and crew at a very posh Hollywood party to celebrate the upcoming film about an old case. Then the bitchy actress playing Peabody ( Peabody is very sweet and adorkable partner of LT Dallas) ends up dead in the pool. The story follows Dallas as she tries to solve the case.

Here Robb plays with the difference between the character an actor portrays, the persona she presents to the world as "herself" for publicity purposes, and the person she really is. The actor portraying Detective Peabody in the upcoming movie "The Icove Agenda" (an in-series dramatization of the events of the earlier book Origin in Death) is found dead in a lap pool, and her surface resemblance to Peabody rattles Lieutenant Eve Dallas and everyone on our familiar investigative team. But as the i...more

The murders she routinely investigate rarely scare Eve Dallas. They anger her and spur her on, but facing brutal killers doesn’t make her nervous.
When she has to attend a Hollywood dinner party during the shooting of a movie about her most famous case though , Eve would rather be anywhere else. Not only does she not like the social occasion, she finds it very disconcerting to be in the same room with people who look exactly like her and those closest to her as well as her husband and friends, th...more

Eve Dallas and her team are at it again. Murder in New York and Eve is on the scene, quite literally in this case, as the murder takes place at a dinner party at which she and Roarke are guests. This all happens in the context of a feature film (or vid, as they call it in the Eve Dallas future) about the Icove case Eve recently solved (from the Origins in Death book.) Much is made of how very, very much the actors and actresses all look like their real-life counterparts, from Eve to Roark to Pea...more

Four stars for a solid, enjoyable, and interesting mystery read compared to some of the average efforts we've gotten in the In Death series. With this and the last couple books in the series it no longer feels like JD Robb is phoning it in when she writes each story. She's still using the same basic formula, but it's got more zip and creativity to the plot. As if Ms Robb is living her characters again instead of just observing them. It was fun to hang out with Eve, Peabody, Nadine, and Roarke an...more

A decent but unexceptional installment. It was a nice change of pace, kind of a breather, after the upfront emotional turmoil and extra-suspenseful case of the previous book (New York to Dallas), and it was nice to be back with the extended cast, but I still prefer the more breathlessly exciting stories of the series. And it was tough suspending my disbelief about the movie being made of Nadine's book about the Icove case (like, that for cinematic purposes McNab would be a main cast member and t...more

A murder book that celebrates love. One of the things I admire the most about Nora Roberts/J.D. Robb's books is how she effortlessly conveys that deep abiding love that most of us yearn for. That sense of comfort, security and support that one finds with one's soul mate. The disconnect between reality and fiction (as portrayed in a fiction book) is blurred as Eve is forced into close proximity with the actors who have assumed the identity of all of those involved in the Icove cloning case. Eve s...more
