Here we go…

It all came down to a war - the worst of them all.
It was not between humans, but between them and the Partials.
Because what if robots didn’t look like robots anymore?
What if they looked exactly like humans? What if they were genetically programmed and made into the best weapon alive, a dangerously thinki More...

Intense with highly sophisticated world building- Partials is a fantastic addition to the dystopian genre. Babies don't survive and the youngest human on earth is now 14 years old. With 99% of the population gone, killed by a new epidemic, Kira is determined to find a cure to save humanity.

I have to start with Kira because she is an excellent protagonist. She is incredibly determined and this presence throughout the novel of pure dedication to her cause is all consuming. You want her t More...

Holy...Awesome!

It’s been a loooong while since I’ve felt this excited about a post apoc/ dystopia YA. I thought I’d burned out on them after reading Starters and Eve and heck even Shatter Me; the lack of detail in the first two and the over indulgent writing in the other simply put me off. So I really am not kidding when I say it’s been a long time since I’ve felt this excited about a book of this type.

It's a little like Grant’s Feed (or Deadline) because this too doe More...

I’m sitting here, trying to figure out how to write a review for this amazing novel. The awesome author, Dan Wells, has totally blown me away. Partials is an incredibly amazing world and storyline with fantastic characters. I can't even pick which is my favorite. Dan Wells gave all of them terrific personalities: Kira is head-strong, Marcus is the fun guy, Jayden is a take charge guy, Xochi is the bad-ass chick, Madison is the caring mom figure, Haru is the jerk, Isolde is a analyst and Samm is More...

Partials by Dan Wells is unique and riveting, I strongly encourage any Young Adult Dystopian fan to read this one. Maybe I am head over heels for this one because I didn't have high expectations. Thank goodness I ignored some of the remarks I'd heard, because I walked away from this novel completely entertained. I enjoyed every second of it and had a hard time putting it down.

Samm, a character we (unfortunately) do not get to meet right away, has me smitten. I adore him. He really More...

This is a high three star book that could change when the final copy is released.

First of all, Dan Wells is a complete rock star in my neck of the woods. The high school where I work keeps his other books constantly checked out. Also, he was kind enough to grace us with his presence to inspire the students to write.

I loved the concept of the book even though it is very depressing. Bottom line is that some years ago 99.9% of all humans died from a deadly virus. Before tha More...

"Be the change you want to see in the world"

I received an advance copy of this courtesy of NetGalley and Harper Collins, so I was committed to reading it to completion, I'm not sure I would have made it the 200 or so pages it took to grab me and suck me in otherwise. Over all I did enjoy this book, and by the end I was fully invested, looking forward to more... and it definitely leaves the door open for more. But will I be heartbroken if I don't get to read the n More...

Absolutely LOVED this book!  I can't wait until the next one comes out!  This book was an amazing that followed Kira and her friends in a post-apocalyptic world and what they are trying to do to save it. There are few humans left and they are not able to reproduce. The babies are born and die within days due to a virus that was released 11 years prior. It is the year of 2076. Sixteen-year-old Kira Walker works gathering data from dead human babies in order to help researchers find a cure for the deadly virus RM that killed most of the human race during the Break.

Dan Wells sets the bar high in the dystopian genre with his novel PARTIALS. It is sure to get your adrenaline going and your emotions will be on a rocky roller-coaster ride. There isn't one scene where nothings at stake--everything is in every single moment. The stakes do change and get raised higher and higher as the book reaches the end. Wells has awed me with PARTIALS and I will be thinking about it for a long time.

Kira is an unbelievably strong and fierce heroine who is willing t More...

The year is 2076. Most of mankind is dead. Years ago, the Partials were created, part machine and part human, to help win the Isolation War. They were successful and the Partials returned home. But the Partials were treated as outcasts, they were different, and they became angry. They wiped out most of humanity, not only by killing them but by releasing a virus, called RM that not only killed, but prevented anyone from procreating.

Kira Walker is only sixteen but she is a medical inte More...

Last week, I finished reading the ARC of Partials by Dan Wells (Harpercollins, 2/28/12), a dystopian thriller with a unique premise. I was intrigued as soon as I saw the fantastic cover image & read the plot summary.

Partials is set in 2076, eleven years after humanity has been ravaged by war with the Partials, super-human clone warriors who turned on their human creators. During the war, the Partials released the RM virus. Since then, all human babies die a few hours after they are More...

Wow. Wow,wow, wow! After falling in love with the post-apocalyptic world in Under the Never Sky, I didn't think I would find another novel to compete with it for quite some time, let alone this soon. But in Partials, that is exactly what I found, and I couldn't be more excited.

If you take a good look at the cover, the story is laid before you. The world as we know it is a wasteland, bleak and empty, with the buildings and homes humans once occupied nothing but an empty shell. The story More...

Here's the thing: at this point it's going to be hard to find a new take on a dystopian/post apocalyptic type novel as these types of stories are very popular & have been for a while now. Still, some can be quite entertaining if done well, the Hunger Games trilogy & Divergent are two that immediately come to mind. Overall Partials was ok, interesting at times even, but too much fell short for me to say I really liked it. It didn't get interesting until about 200 pages in & by that point you know More...

Partials, written by Dan Wells, is set in 2076, eleven years after the war with the Partials, a group of genetically engineered almost-humans. During the war, a virus called RM was released. Because of this virus, no human babies survive past three days old. The Senate has passed The Hope Act, a law the requires all eighteen year old girls to become pregnant. The Senate thinks that the more babies that are produced, the better their chance to find a cure.

This story has plenty of twists and turns that take you on a fun and entertaining roller coaster ride. Wells does a great job planting clues here and there, but they are so subtle that they’re easy to miss until a twist is revealed, and then they all click into place. I *love* stories that do this, and I could not put this book down because I wanted to know what else was going to happen.

The first thing I want to say is that this story is blessedly free of love triangles. Wells has ef More...

I really loved Partials. Despite a slow start, the story sucked me in, and I'm rather attached to the characters.

King-sized Review
Worlds built on lies and ignorance are my favorite to read about. There's something thrilling about working your way through the layers of deception to find the truth, and Partials plays that card really well. I do enjoy a great dystopian read! This story was so vividly described I felt like I was there in this futuristic place. Some people have been found to be immune to RM but no baby survives passed the third day.

This is a young adult post-apocalyptic science fiction, which I have read a whole lot of lately. I let this slow me down when I started reading. I shouldn’t have. Humans have created biological robots to fight their wars, and when the human wars ended, these “Partials” rebelled. A nasty virus wiped out a considerable portion of the human race, and now those remaining are struggling to make a new generation. Kira, a young medical intern, believes the only plan to combat the disease is to capture More...

Another terrific dystopian readers can look forward to. In the forbidding environment Dan Wells created, the reader will learn of the deadly RM virus. The RM virus is believed to be spread by "Partials" or militant, partially human forces. The RM virus barely leaves anyone alive in its path, killing newly born infants within a day of their birth. Kira, the main character, is very young, but already a medic. She strives to find a cure for this deadly virus, even if it means going t More...

Ever since The Break-when the disease RM spread by half human robots called Partials, devestated the world in more ways than one: Humans had to fight because babies that are born die in three days or less with the disease ravaging their little bodies, the Senate proposes an even younger age for women to give birth just so they can find that miracle baby and in the meantime Kira Walker, a trained medical professional, takes it upon herself to find a cure for the disease and the cure may be found, More...

The stakes are high in Partials by Dan Wells. The year is 2076, 99% of humanity has died. The humans left have gathered on Long Island. A baby is born every day, but none live longer than a day or two thanks to the RM virus. Kira Walker, main character, is a determined young medic who will go to any length to find a cure for RM.

Partials by Dan Wells is an intense and thrilling read. It is understandably fast passed – as Kira’s goal to find a cure becom More...

I'm going to make a shocking confessions here... I'd never read a dystopian book before picking up Partials, but I'd heard so many good things about the dystopian novels out there that I wanted to give one a try. Since Harper Collins rarely lets me down, I decided this would be as good a book as any to start with. However, I did not enjoy this book, and that has nothing to do with the writing or the plot... After I read this book, I looked into other dystopian books as well, just to compare, and More...

I'm trying to think of words to describe how much I loved this book. I started reading it at 8 last night and read it all in one sitting, I just couldn't put it down. It was a non-stop thrill ride pretty much from start to finish, in a world that was both realistic and terrifying. For the most part it seemed a totally realistic world that I felt compelled to figure out just like Kira. It had all the elements I've loved in other stories, such as Hunger Games and Ender's Game (though the writing r More...

First of all, I love everything about this cover. It’s dark and gorgeous, and depicts the story well. “The only hope for humanity isn’t human” is quite possibly the best tagline, ever.

By this point it’s probably starting to look like you could throw any old dystopian and/or post-apocalyptic book at me, and it would stick. But really—I don’t love them all, despite the amount of gushing I’ve done lately. Some of the most popular in the genre(s) left me severely disappointed. But I am a More...
