This book of poetry by poet and children's book author Janice Harrington focuses on the diverse aspects of life in a nursing home, with emphasis on the experiences of patients and care-givers alike. Harrington's real magic is not that she inspires pity or pathos though, but that she is a true master of poetic word-craft and creates subtle, true, and haunting poems that allow us inside her difficult topic. Harrington’s writing reflects her beginnings in rural Alabama and her life in the Midwest. A former librarian and professional storyteller, Harrington now teaches creative writing in the Department of English at the University of Illinois.
