My grandfather William Shortpaws -- also known as Cheap Mouse Willy -- was back at The Rodent's Gazette, and he was determined to torture me. He wanted to publish a guide book to Ratzikistan, the Siberia of Mouse Island. And he ordered *me* to go there to write it! But as you know, dear reader, I HATE TRAVELING!

Recommends it for: children starting to read chapter books
We borrowed an audio CD with two Geronimo Stilton chapter books on it from our local library. It was narrated by Bill Lobley and I thought the different voices he used were very entertaining.

We listened to this story in the car over the course of several days while running errands. Because of the numerous stops and starts, the story seemed a bit disjointed, but I'm sure it was just because we spread it out over too long of a time.

This story was filled with drama, but it was quite corny, even c

I meant to get the first book in this series, but I got this one instead. It was a fine story about a mouse who lives in the city and goes on a trip with his family to the wilds of a frozen country called Raztikistan. Geronimo is a bit of a whiner, and his family definitely takes advantage of him, but his adventures are pretty wild. The text is funny because parts of it are in color, the fonts are different, and text size changes too. It's not too much to be overwhelming, but it adds to the read ...more

Grandfather insists Geronimo travel with the family in a camper to Ratzkizastan to research the area for a travel book. We enjoyed visualizing a giant cheese camper and even designed our own. Poor Geronimo gets bullied by his family into all sorts of chores in the dark and cold- Thea even tricks him outside, slams the door, and locks him out of the camper. This book did provide an opportunity to refresh our geography and science skills learning why Ratzkizastan would be cold and dark all day and ...more

Cheese nibblets! Another moustastic adventure! Once again, lots of pun names with the words "mouse" and/or "rat" and lots and lots of cheese references! This time, the gang takes a camper to Ratzikistan to write a guide book! Again, my daughter loved it, especially the King of the Road silliness. Oh Geronimo...

this book was a fantastically fantastic book!!!!that may not be a wword but i intend to say so i really love this book beacause it shows tons of bravery throughtout thhe book!!!!!!!!!onother thing is the book really teaches you to dig deep in your heart and give poeple (or mice as said in the story)a chace at being your frind.
Emma Snyder
These books are very engaging because of the illustrations and format of text throughout the book. The important words are altered with color or design. It makes the story interesting and allows the students to stay involved.

I realized that Geronimo's grandfather, William wasn't just a strict rodent. He's a good grandfather.( Only when he is with Geronimo. I don't know the reason why, but I think because everybody thinks grandfather William is strict, and tough.) I'm lucky that I have a such a good grandfather.

In this book Geronimo has been sent out in the winter without any of his relatives (they locked him out of the trailer). A traveling mouse took him to their home not far. He got food but their language wasn't the same. This is a great book.
