Attractive coffee table format book with large watercolours demonstrated. I appreciate the author's work because of her use of colour. She talks only about painting though, assuming that her readers are already accomplished draughtsmen. This is by no means a given, and most beginning painters may be stopped short by their inability to draw to begin with. This is an inspirational book. Hazel's art is beautiful, and demonstrates that watercolour is more than just twee botanical paint by numbers.

If you're expecting a book on the practical techniques, then this isn't for you. Hazel concentrates more on principles than practice, focussing on aspects such as brush strokes, colour, light, patience. You finish the book with a real sense of her state of mind when approaching a painting - what she's thinking and how that makes it onto the page. Her work a

A very interesting book, full of Hazels fab paintings. If you are after inspiration then this is the book for you but if you are after step by step demos, then look else where.
A must have for anyone wishing to master the loose application of watercolour or anyone who wishes they had it in them!
