Broken Wings written by Alexandrea Weis and published by World Castle Publishing is a must read Four out of Five!
The reader who loves animals, loves Louisiana, and loves romance will take pleasure in reading Broken Wings. Although there are no surprises in the plot or the outcome with the lovers, the novel is well-written and worth reading.

Broken Wings by Alexandrea Weis is a wonderful love story! Pamela is a take charge woman who hates asking for help from her ex-husband. She is witty and strong willed and I fell in love with her. Beneath all of her tough exterior she has such a warm heart. It is obvious every time she is caring for one of her many animals.
Daniel was tall dark and handsome. He was a little moody and he could hold his own in a fight. He may have had some issues, brought on by his PTSD, but he has a huge heart. Wh...more

** I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review
I admit I'm a sucker for anything Southern: food, accents, cities....men – not necessarily in that order. So throw me a book that's based in Louisiana and I'm yours. Make it a book based in Louisiana with one of the characters having a lot of bad boy qualities and attitude in the mix? Um, yeah. I won't be coming up for air until said book is finished.

Thank you Alex for sending me this novel. Broken Wings has a different focus than her Nicole Beauvoir series which is animal rehabbing.

Also the support of her ex-husband Bob. A surprise helper shows up to work off his community service. Daniel is vet from the Iraq war. The rehab center becomes a place of...more

Wonderfully paced emotion and romance makes this one of the best books I've read in a long time. Pamela Wells isn't some empty headed do gooder ; she's a woman living for the animals she cares for at her makeshift shelter. She thinks she's got everything figured out and in its place but something is missing.
Irritation and romance come in the form of a hot tempered bartender assigned to community service. But Daniel is more than he seems. I did have the initial feeling that this was going to be...more

BROKEN WINGS was a very sweet and warm love story of two people who had many emotional wounds and had a hard time opening up. The two come together after having some conflict and fall in love. Pamela had a love for animals helping them return to their natural habitat. Daniel was the rougher type, charged with assault and battery having to complete community service. The author did a great job describing PTSD as well as developing the characters. Ms. Weis kept my attention right from the first pa...more
I highly recommend this book.
Broken Wings by Alexandrea Weis is the kind of book you cant put down, and not think of it. It keeps you wanting more...

As the wife of a veteran I was really looking forward to this book since I have first hand experience with the topic. I don't read many romance novels so my opinion may be a little skewed. Broken wings is a light read and would be enjoyed by readers of romance novels. Personally, I was hoping for a little more substance. I was curious how the author would be able to make PTSD work in a romance novel and wasn't overly impressed. However, I applaud her for tackling the subject because it is very m...more
Daniel said to Pamela:
"Despite what you may think, you and I are a lot alike, Pamela. We are both birds afraid to fly in case we should fall and break our wings. But broken wings heal. And every bird must fly, even if it's only for a brief moment. But in that moment, they get their chance to spread their wings and try to touch the sky."
4.5 stars.
Wow, such a pleasant surprise! I was waiting for months to read Broken Wings and it was so worthwhile!

This is one of those books where you see how broken both of the main characters. The author has helped the reader understand how the main characters got that way. Shoved together the animals and their relationship help them both begin to heal. When Daniel leaves, Pamela is forced to once again seek help from her ex-husband. Can you say controlling? He is the type of character you love to hate. You can’t read this book without hoping that he will get his. Want to know if he does? Read the book.
I am really liking this author. As I have enjoyed with her other books, it has a good cast of charactes. (including a few from the Nicci Beauvoir trilogy?. This was not a suspense though, just a romance with a nice couple, the conflicts keeping them apart included illness, money and a really weasily nasty ex husband. I was definitely choked up at the ending and epilogue which could have been coy but was actually a surprise.
