Some stories catch you right away. Two Moons of Sera is one of those stories. The file includes both parts 1 and 2, and when you finish them, you will be craving part three. Sera is a hybrid created from some kind of medical research done on her mother. Her mother is from a race of water-born (from eggs) people called Sualwets. They have a human body structure but they have no hair and can breathe under water. The other half of Sera's genetics appears to be Erdlander, but it is entirely possible...more
Brief and a little confusing, it's a sweet story of three outcasts that try to survive together.
Sera is a a half-merwoman called a sulawet. She lives alone on an island with her full-breed mother. One day an odd man named Tor washes up there, and the two become fast friends. But they are forced to flee the island, and survive among their enemies.
It's well written. Very well written. I didn't really get the idea of the world though: it feels like fantasy, but then goes into science fiction, and I...more

My opinions of Two Moons of Sera by Pavarti K. Tyler. I really enjoyed book 1. What would you do if your whole being should never have been established in the first place. Ostracized from your people because you are an anomaly to your species. That is how Serafay's life was from the beginning. She was a Sualwet which are water-borne people but she was different she had hair, could not live in water, and was a live birth not from eggs. She was raised by her mother all alone because her mother's p...more

Really enjoyed this fantastical story of two races at war with one another on a very (in many ways) Earth-like world. The main character, Serafey, is an outcast from both worlds, being a "mixed race" child of a Sualet mother, a race of sea creatures somewhere between mermaids and amphibious humans and an Erdlander father, a race of more human-like and land-dwelling cousins. Ostracized by the other Sualet, Serafey lives alone with her mother, who was also banished for having dared to raise a chil...more
With the exception of a very few (for example Chelsea Fine’s “Sophie & Carter“) I get unabashedly irritated with short novels. Not all short novels mind you; the ones that have a beginning, middle and an end (aka novellas) aren’t so bad. But series novels that stop when they just get started drive me insane. So imagine my angst when I found out that I (excitedly) agreed to review an 89 page fantasy novel. (*gasp*)

Synopsis: Serafay has spent her life in isolation, her mother's water dwelling Sualwet people afraid of her and the earth dwelling Erdlander people the ones responsible for experimenting on Serafay's mother which led to Serafay's birth. She's never felt like she belonged anywhere; the presence of hair separates her from the Sualwet people and her webbed toes from the Erdlanders. When she meets a man with a strange trait of his own, she realizes just how alone she's been. His companionship comes...more
Well I have to say Fantasy is not my usual genre, but the more Fantasy I read the more I'm finding I like it. It's out of my comfort zone, but, I am very glad I went outside of my zone for this one.
Length of the book is only 41-pages, and for a short book it really grabs your attention and pulls you in to keep reading right until the very end. I'm also starting to really like the smaller books more and more each one I pick up, it's nice to have a 300++ page book as you get all of the story all...more

This first installment of Two Moons of Sera is very much worth the price of $0.99 (and more) for just this installment, never mind the fact that it buys you the additional installments as they release as well.
It's short, but it does a great job setting up the world that Serafey lives in and setting up her character, giving her and her mom some background and introducing Tor into the picture as well. I found the characterization of Sera to be well done so far and expect it to continue as the stor...more

With the publication of the novella Two Moons of Sera author Pavarti K. Tyler has launched a creative new series. Two advanced species live in the world of Two Moons of Sera. The Sualwet are a water people who live and breathe underwater but are capable of coming onto land. The Erdlanders are the people that live on the land. They are at war with each other, and the story opens with the Sualwet female Nilafay fleeing from her Erdlander captors. She does not escape.

Two Moons of Sera (2MOS) is a fantasy book written for teens and young adults. I haven't been a teen or young adult for many, many years, but I really enjoyed this book. It is short, 47 pages, though the book has 55 pages. 2MOS is a quick, can't put it down read.
The story starts with a terrified Sualwet woman/teen named Nilafay, being chase, and then captured, by Erdlanders. Sualwets, are water dwellers and Erdlanders are land dwellers. They are also enemies.

It's been a while since I've been asked to read & review anything by a new indie author. When I found an email in my inbox from Ms. Pavarti Tyler requesting a review for her Two Moons of Sera ebook launch I was ready.
I should say, I *thought* I was ready.
I have a strict policy of not...I repeat NOT looking too far into the content of a book (Any book. Right now I'm reading People of the Mist...hadn't a clue what it was about. I'm a century or so behind the trends). I like to read and form...more

It makes no sense how GREAT this book is. I enjoyed this short story so much that I was so upset that I didn't read it slower than I already did. Once I realized that I was almost done with the book, I purposely slowed myself down even more just so I could savor every minute of it...but like all good things, nothing lasts forever. Serafay is a hybrid between Saulwets (which to my understanding are sort of like merpeople) and Erdlanders (which are humans, to my understanding. But I could be wrong...more
One of the best qualities of this novel is that the author chose to tell it in small increments at a time. The reader will get only a little bit of the story and be anxious for more. Serafey is the main character. She is not full Sualway or full Erdlander, but half and half. This characteristic means that Sera is not fully accepted in either group. She is effectively an exile.
At first, the book is more descriptive. However, the action quickly commences as Sera is drying out pages in a book when...more
This is a Serial Novel, meaning that its told in smaller volumes than a full 300+ page novel. I enjoy this type, it gives you just little nibbles of the whole story and makes you want to go back for more!

This is the first book in a set of serial novellas. I usually don’t go for serial novellas because as my blog followers know, I’m not a fan of cliffhangers. However, this set had Pavarti K. Tyler’s name on them and as a huge fan of Shadow on the wall, I agreed to review them.
I’m totally glad I did!

Sixteen year old Serafay had lived her entire life in hiding, having been shunned by the Sualwets - the people of the sea and the ancestors of her mother, and hunted by the Erdlanders – the people of the land and the other half of Serafay’s genetic makeup. One day, a mysterious and handsome young man, named Torkek (Tor) wanders into Serafay’s safe cove while her mother is away. Sera, feels an instant connection to him, despite the fact that he himself is part Erdlander.

This is a very unique novel. Serafay is half-Sualwet and half-Erlander. "What are those?" you ask. I'm not going to tell you. It is well worth buying the book to find out for yourself. Anyway, Sera and her mother live in a secluded cove and have for Sera's entire 16 years of existance; shunned by her mother's people, and hidden away from the species to blame for her existence.

The story of this book takes place in a unique world with two very different sets of people. The Sualwets live in the sea, though they can survive on land as well for a prolonged period of time. The Erdlanders are more like us and live on land only. There is a war going on between them, and there is a lot of distrust and hatred. In the middle of this war, Nilafay, a Sualwet gets pregnant with an Erdlander’s child and hence Sera, her daughter has the characteristics of both. I loved the premise o...more

This week has been full of books with some serious originality, and this book was no different. Truthfully, I heard about this book before I got the request for the review. And like I am sure some of you don't agree with my assessments of books, I was very interested to see if this book was as good as I have heard. It really did not disappoint.

Two Moons of Sera by Parvati Tyler is a beautiful, enchanting bit of escapist fantasy. The writing is beautiful and flows smoothly along, taking you on a journey sure to please.
Two Moons of Sera is the first installment in the journey of Serafey, a half-Sualwet and half-Erdlander. Now, you may be asking yourself, what is a Sualwet and Erdlander? I'm not going to spoil the details, because they are quite cool. Because of her unheard-of hybrid status, Serafey and her mother, for protecting her, a...more

Two Moons of Sera is like mangas where you don't get the full story in once but in volumes. I have to say it was something new for me but it was exciting. It's like having a magazine each month which instead of gossip is a story.

Pavarti K. Tyler presents us with the first volume of a adventurous paranormal short story. Sera short for Serafay is a 16 year old girl, she is a genetic anomaly as she describes herself, a cross breed between erdlander ( = human character) and sualwets ( merpeople - aquatic creatures). Not very much does Sera know of the life of both these cultures, she and her mother a sualwet have been living isolated since she was born. But she knows that her mother has sacrificed alot to come this far, rep...more
This is a great beginning to the series. The descriptions of the narrator's sensations are visceral and specific. The description of the setting is vivid. I can feel, smell and taste the place. Serafay's character is rich. She is a teenage girl stuck between species, feeling love and attraction for the first time. She is pulled by both curiosity and fear. She feels isolated but loved. I believe many people at some point in their lives feel the same troubles. I know she will be an interesting cha...more
Sera and Tor are so different, yet they are bound by a connection that is so real you can't help but feel it. I love these characters, and I even fell in love with the mountain hound, Elgon.
Ms. Tyler wove this story from a unique fabric. As I read, I thought I knew what was around the next bend, but she proved me wrong time and again. I was certain I was reading a tale of an ancient or maybe even a lost race of people, then I am thrust forward to a time of innovation and modernization. Sera bes...more

Two Moons of Sera is an amazingly written story by Pavarti K Tyler. In my honest opinion this story shocked me at how much I fell in love with the characters. One page just isn't enough you will want that little bit more.

It isn’t often that I am swept into the current of a story as quickly as I was with Pavarti K. Tyler’s Two Moons of Sera. From the imagined horror of experimentation on Nilafay, resulting in the birth of Serafay, to the exile the two of them are forced to endure, Tyler creates a believable world torn by war between those who live on the earth and those who live in the sea. Sera’s life is uprooted when the war destroys everything she holds dear, leaving her without ties to anyone, except perhaps...more
