Reading A Very Vampy Christmas should come with a warning for funny bones everywhere. Even after re-reading the story, I still giggled and guffawed. The only reason I was affected so effectively was because of the quality writing. So even when I knew what to expect, the perfect comedic timing still came through making those clever parts continuously grin-worthy.

The first hint that I had that Ms. Sparks had written a light and entertai...more

This is a delightful little story about a studly amnesiac vampire and the sweet, 100+ year old vampire who loves him. Maggie has had a serious crush on Don Orlando since she saw him acting in the soap opera, but once she lands a role opposite him, she learns he's quite the slutty, sleazy jerk. Or is he? Turns out Don Orlando is acting in real life, too, because he has total amnesia. His memories begin the night he was turned into a vampire. Maggie contacts Ian at MacKay Security & Investigat...more

This is a fun novella set in Kerrylyn Sparks' Love at Stake series. Vampire Maggie O'Brien is working as an actress on the Digital Vampire Network's popular soap opera As The Vampire Turns opposite the "world's greatest vampire lover" Don Orlando de Corazon. It was her dream job, until she found out that the actor she has dreamed of is just another womanizing actor.

What she doesn't realize is that he is just playing a persona, but the womanizing is greatly exaggerated by a certain reporter name...more

This is a super cute novella about some secondary characters in the Love at Stake series. I feel like it was hurried. The sex was 3 lines. I mean really who cements their love with a few strokes and passing out?? I'm glad that Maggie found happiness but the best parts of this for me was getting a better look at Ian. He's a Highlander who was turned at the age of 15. Could you imagine trying to get laid when your forever stuck in a teenager's body?? I am interested in reading his book which won't...more

A Very Vampy Christmas is a cute, holiday-themed addition to the Love at Stake series. I honestly didn't care much for Don Orlando, the infamous Latin vampire lover and soap opera star. In the previous book of the series, he came off as a comically melodramatic playboy who sleeps with nearly every woman he meets, but this short story shows a whole new side to him that I didn't expect. Readers get to find out that he's not the man we thought he was, and in fact, he has a v...more

I actually read this in the Sugarplums and Scandal anthology but since it's the only book I read I'm posted the review under this.

It was a decent short story. You can only do so much with eighty pages so was it stellar...not really, but I'm glad I read it and that is more than I can say about a lot of short stories I have read. It had some funny parts and some serious parts just like the previous two books. I actually liked this short story better than the full length novel that came before it....more

Only three stars because it was so short. I felt a little like everything was rushed due to the length of the story. I know that is a common issue with novellas so I am not going to complain to much. Overall it was a super fun story. We get a background on Don Orlando and some insight into Corky's true personality. Maggie is a sweet girl with a bit of a sad story involving her turn. They had a little rushed chemistry, again due to story length. Really though it had all the elements that I have c...more

I was soo excited to read this book. This short story deserves 5 stars because Kerrelyn was able to capture just the right amount of romance and action into it. I adored this book. I love the series and I def want more of it. You will NOT be disappointed in any of Kerrelyn's books. Her world in unique and very addicting. She adds everything you could want in a paranormal romance. Youll laugh, cry, scream, and dream when reading her series so beware :)

Okay, I honestly was disappointed in this. Not at ALL my expectations. The plot was sort of very silly. I disliked--actually HATED that the love story was between 2 vamps. I mean the whole point is a forbidden love to make a story good. Maggie's trust for Dor orlondo or whatever his name was, was given to him so easily even after he seemed the most womanizer pig!
I didnt love the love story between them. This is the first book Ive read to such a great author that im disappointed in. Sorry Kerryln...more

The concept of the story was good, and I know this was intended to be a short story, but I feel cheated. The story moved at lightening speed. For a short story I don't think she should've chose a love story to go into because she doesn't cover it very well. I really liked Pierces character, and suprisingly Maggie grew on me quickly. There was so much more she could've done with the story to make their story into it's own book, not to mention tie up loose ends like Courky's storyline.

I really love Kerrelyn Sparks and the way she writes. I always get a giggle out of her books. I really enjoyed this story although it felt a bit rushed at the end, but it was only a short story so there was obviously limited space. But it was a lovely story, with a hot sex scene, and lots of great characters. The family's reaction to finding out their son/brother/nephew was a vampire was priceless!!!

This was a nice little book with Maggie and Don.

She was so sure they should be together, and although I didn't believe her I was glad she proved me wrong.

I hated Don at first but he turned out to be a nice guy, I liked his amnesia and when his past came to light it was unexpected.

I liked the little twists and I liked that Maggie was his rock.

A great little read.

This is my first Kerrelyn Sparks book, and I enjoyed it. It was a bit unlike anything else I've read, but I really liked the humor in it. I can't say if I'll read more of her books - it was good but didn't make me run to my Kindle to get more. But I was very tired when I read it, so that might be it, too. I did like that it was funny.

Quick Review (Holiday Break Read): This was just a cute little novella that I would suggest reading after Book 2 in the series. You will already be a bit attached to Maggie and it was fun to watch her fall in love :)
Donna
Great short story about Maggie and Don Orlando. Lots of humourous bits, a little suspense, and a HEA ending. I wasn't sure how Sparks could make Don Orlando likable but she managed to make him lovable. Corky, however, went down a few more notches in my opinion. Very nice addition to the series.

Now this I really liked !!! Maggie's story was really good. Don Orlando isn't who we all thought he was, he doesn't even know. As we find out who he is, we learn some new things on the way. The chemistry and heart ache was felt in this short story more than ever. On to the next !!!!

the only reason I gave this 3 stars instead of the usual 5 is because, while this was an adorable short story, I needed a little more, it seemed a bit rushed to me, but I did enjoy it....Kerrelyn Sparks is an excellent writer, and it does fit in a little with the "Love at Stake" series.
Lili
Very silly story, very "soap opera". I like Ian and I hope he gets his story soon, he's so cute!
I think the whole Don Orlando thing was funny as hell.. "I've heard there's a shortage of mariachi bands in South America".. ha!

The best part of Amazon Kindle pre-orders is that I do not have to remember to get it--it arrives! and if I do remember? I've got a fave read just after midnight...

I loved this short story about Maggie and Pierce. I wish that it was longer though, I would love to hear more about them. They sadly don't appear much in the Love at Stake series. They are in Vanda's book a little bit but that is about it. It would be nice to have another story about them but either way, this story was pretty good for how long it was.
Eileen
somehow I missed this one when I was reviewing her books. Glad to see Maggie and Don get their story. Her love at stakes series is one of the best.
Kara
It wasn't awful, but I am torn on whether it should get 2 stars or 3. Story line for a short was OK, but there were many aspects that seemed cheesy.
Nícky
Bueno.... la verdad es que esta saga no me mata, y Don Orlando me parecía ridículo, aunque como Pierce ha ganado bastante

Nice little holiday novella to get you in the mood for Christmas! Well, if christmas was about vampires & voodoo.... :)

I really love this series. It's funny, sometimes corny like this book, but a very fun series to read.

Was so excited I was able to find this one as an ebook because I really wanted to read it!

Had me confused for a minute, Ian is 15 again. Figured out it was written early and re-released.
Alesha
Good short read. I enjoyed all of the stories in this series by Kerrelyn Sparks and I hope to enjoy much more.

Kerrelyn Sparks is the New York Times bestselling author of a series that mimics its sexy heroes by refusing to die. Now up to book twelve, the Love at Stake series spreads laughter worldwide in thirteen different languages. In spite of a tendency to nibble on necks or howl at the moon, Kerrelyn’s vampire and shapeshifter heroes are still wonderfully romantic.
