Pros: Nicely presented history of traditional recipes included. Thorough selection of traditional recipes.

Cons: Odd font, hard on the eyes and odd photos. Images of Britain (with no tags or captions identifying the location) mostly looking impossibly sunny,or like photos from the 70's that have turned a slightly more yellow tint of the the original colours.

No really new or exciting recipes, similarly the advice on table dressing and collecting china offered nothing fresh.

I picked this up because I love tea services and I figured there might be some cool recipes in here. Most of them were pretty typical, and the advice was pretty common sense (like mixing and matching tea cups and servers, what other equipment to get etc). I did like the history of the tea service and how tea came to England and became a popular drink. They also explained the different kinds of tea times, and I had no idea there were tea + alcoholic drinks. 2 1/2 stars.

Love the recipes and the history of tea and tea traditions. She seems to have all the recipes I have ever heard of for High and Low teas.

I was charmed by the dainty-looking treats that it inspired me to go out for high tea with the company of my friends.

What a delightful book this was! Not only was a wonderful history of tea provided, but also many tantalizing recipes as well. The development of the tea room was very interesting, as was the entry of sandwiches, preserves and all manner of festive embellishments.

I really liked the recipes for delicate rose petal jam, lemon drops, rose hip syrup, Battenberg cake and ginger brandy snaps with cardamom cream. Perfect for gift giving and for every well-mannered lady.

Didn't try any of the recipes; they use the metric system. Beautiful illustrations and great ideas. Overall, an intriguing read.
