So my fiancé and I are driving to Va after visiting my father in Philly. We stop at one of the rest stops - Delaware house? Chesapeake house? Maryland house? - one of those big ones. I'm in line for the register buying snacks and I see a book on the book spin-rack called "Naomi's Gift". My name is Naomi so I pick it up to see what my gift is. The blurb on the back is all "Naomi blah blah blah, and then she meets Caleb, blah blah blah." My fiancé (now husband) is named Caleb, so this is funny to ...more

Naomi’s Gift by Amy Clipston
Short Review by Kara Grant

I was pleasantly surprised by this wonderful story; I only wished it had lasted longer than 178 pages. This book is a Christmas story that accurately illustrates miracles and romance. Naomi has been through two relationships that broke her heart and has resigned herself to not getting married. She focuses her attention on seeking God, helping her parents with her eight siblings, and working as a quilt maker. Caleb is a widower with a young da
In my search to provide a wide range of holiday stories, I was drawn to Naomi’s Gift: An Amish Christmas Story by Amy Clipston. All of us get nostalgic this time of year and I hoped a story set in the Amish community would provide us with an old fashioned Christmas. Naomi’s Gift is a novella that did not disappoint.

Although it’s part of a series, Naomi’s Gift works well as a stand-alone novel. It contains a glossary of Amish words and the families involved in the story are delineated in a geneo

I can’t help feeling a bit of a kinship with Naomi – unlucky in love… picking the wrong guy… twice… feeling like all hope is lost…

Granted, I’m not 24 anymore and I have two children of my own already, but there are so many little things about Naomi and her lot in life that remind me of myself.

I think a lot of readers will find the same true of themselves. We all have to deal with disappointments and disaster where love is concerned.

After having her heart broken more than once, Naomi King has given up on love and resigned herself to remaining at home and helping her mother care for her siblings. It isn’t until widower Caleb Schmucker returns from Ohio for the holidays, along with his eight year old daughter, Susie, that she begins to wonder whether God will grant her another se
Story Description:

As each woman's story unfolds, you will share in her heartaches, trials, joys, dreams ... and secrets. Most importantly, you will be encouraged by the hope and faith of these women, and the importance they place on
Naomi's Gift by Amy Clipston

I listened to this sweet novella while driving from Arizona to California for winter break.

Short, sweet and spirited, I couldn't help but love this book!

Naomi's Gift is the story of Naomi (go figure) who has been burned badly by love. She had her heart broken when her fiancé broke up with her for another woman, and then again when she chased after another man, almost shamefully so.

Naomi has given up on love. She believes that perhaps God means for her to live her life

As fall is beginning to peak around the corner, some of the best books are just beginning to hit the bookshelves in time to get us in the Christmas spirit, and one of the best I've read belongs to Amy Clipston, who wrote, Naomi's Gift, An Amish Christmas Story. I've yet to read an Amish book, I didn't like and this one was such a true pleasure to read.

I could imagine life at Bird-In-Hand Pennsylvania, the crisp cold chill of snow in the air, settling under thick, gray clouds. Just in time to mak

First off, I have to say that I love Amish stories so I went into this expecting to love it, even though I have not read any of Amy Clipston's books before. I wasn't disappointed! I really, really loved it! I am definitely going to be getting my hands on more of Amy's work!

Naomi's Gift_GuidelinesThis is a fantastic novella, I actually own it as a standalone as well as in the Kauffman Amish Bakery Christmas Collection.     When I was gifted the collection for Christmas I thought it was the perfect time to read A Plain and Simple Christmas (which I had never read) and Naomi's Gift (One that I had read but couldn't remember as it had been a long while) and review them individually.

Before I get to the review, I do want to go back to the fact that you can get these books as standalone novel

This journey begins with Caleb and his daughter Susie taking a trip home for Christmas. You see, Caleb lost his wife and unborn child in a freak accident 2 years prior. Caleb blames himself for the death of his wife. He feels as that he will not have another chance at love. That is until, his daughter runs into a woman at a flea market. Susie immediately takes to this woman. Caleb’s sister however, has other plans for his brother. She tells Caleb to stay away from a woman named Naomi King explai ...more
I won this book from a book blogger hop about 2 years ago from a Wordpress Blogger. I have no idea who the blogger was or the name of the blog. This special novella focuses on Naomi King.

I didn’t really notice her much until she began talking to Luke, bringing him lunch and… if she weren’t Amish, I’d say… she was flirting with disaster – ha!

But she couldn’t see that everyone thought she was behaving badly – making a spectacle of herself by flirting with Luke in front of the whole church district”

No one can say she didn’t try her best to convince Luke to court her… even when Luke tried to tell her she was wasting her time, she refu

One of my favorite genres to read is Amish and a Christmas Amish story is icing on the cake. Naomi King is approaching age 24, almost considered an old maid by Amish standards. She has tried two times to find her life mate only to have her heart broken both times. She has decided that God intends for her to stay single and help her Mamm take care of her seven brothers and sisters.

How do you sum up a short and sweet Christmas miracle story? Let me try, Caleb has been a widower for two years. His sweet little ball of energy, his daughter Susie, is immediately in love with the town where Caleb grew up. Susie enjoys playing with all of her cousins and she really wants to learn how to bake and quilt. When she meets Naomi at the farmer's market, she is taken in by Naomi's sweet personality and easy to talk to spirit. The two of them have many things in common. Once Caleb final ...more

Naomi King finds herself really interested in the little girl who shows up in her mom's quilting booth at the flea market. This little girl seems drawn to the quilts and shares with Naomi that her mother was supposed to teach her how to quilt, but she had died. Naomi can see the young girl is grieving and missing her mother, and the little girl's father also has eyes that mirror that same hurt. However Naomi is treading carefully, after seemingly throwing herself at two young eligible bachelors ...more

3.5 stars/FICTION; Christmas

Caleb Schmucker and his young daughter, Susie, travel to Pennsylvania to celebrate Christmas with his Amish family and church district. Widowed for two years, Caleb realizes that he misses the community he grew up in and how the relationships there play a positive role in he and Susie's path to the future.

Naomi King feels undeserving of anyone's love or attention after two failed relationships. She takes pride in her work as a quilter and helping to care for her young

At last, I got to read an Amy Clipston novel! I’ve heard such great things about Amy’s books and I was delighted to have a chance to review Naomi’s Gift. Since I don’t automatically love all Amish books, I approached Naomi’s Gift with cautious optimism. One thing I don’t like about Amish fiction is when authors use Pennsylvania Dutch and the reader has to stop reading and look up what a word means. This book had that, but I enjoyed the story so much it actually did not impact my enjoyment of the ...more

It was like experiencing falling in love all over again! I just want to melt into his strong warm embrace. It was a perfect story for this Christmas season. I wish there was more, definitely didn't want it to be over. It's been a stressful week, and listening to this book honestly kept helping me feel more at peace. It just h ...more

It's not the best time for reading a christmas novella, I know, but I just finished this one.
And I have to say, I was enchanted.

The writting is really good, as I expected, since I liked this author's work in a ya novel I read previously, entitled 'Roadside Assistance'. But on top of that, the story although brief, was very well thought-out, with diverse and very realistic characters.
The romance was sweet but deep, both the hero and heroine having to overcome struggles before they could be tog

A fantastic novella containing the characters from the Kauffman Amish Bakery series by Amy Clipston. In this book it focuses on Naomi, one of the minor characters who in the other books tried to court some of the Kauffman boys.

It was lovely to see a story based around Naomi. In this one you go to know her as a person, not some love-sick girl. Her journey to becoming a woman was amazing.

I loved the widowed character and his adorable daughter. The characters had me hoping for them to get everythin
