The story focuses on the coming of age of a group of friends from the late 60`s to the early 90`s. At the same time, through their eyes and actions we get a glimpse at historical events that occurred during this time such as the six-day war, the Yom Kippur war and the dramatic shift in politics in the late 70`s (when the main opposition party won the election for the first time).

The writing is absolutely superb. Fluent and interesting even when nothing really happens (and this happens quite a l

A small disclosure before I start my review, I was bound to love this book before I even started reading it as it tells the story of my childhood neighborhood - so vivid, so colorful that I can almost see myself walking along all the good ol' routes.

I was born 13 years after the time plot starts, but I was walking the same streets [born and raised in one of them], went to the same library and played in the same parks, ate in the same cafes and pizzerias. I was there too and all the stories of e

Great book! A history of Israel from 1967 till 1995 , the year I arrived.
Funny ,tragic, interesting - the life itself.
Highly recommended!

The plot itself wasn't very interesting, what I liked was the history, our history as a country, it started somewhere in the late 60's, and ended in the beginning of the 90's. 30 years with a lot of history in them, so many stories to read about, it made me Google some of the events because they didn't ring a bell, it made think about it even when the book was close. For that, and for so many other reasons, this book gets 4 stars.

I loved it. It's easy to fall in love with the people in this book. The author draws the life you saw around you but never noticed its beauty.
The story itself almost doesn't matter. You wish it would go on and on.
When it ends, you feel you have been a part of a journey, one that teaches you nothing, but touches your heart so deep it hurts.

An engaging coming of age book with a lot of likeable characters and recognisable historical events.
