Not yet available in english, the french edition (pocket) is a compelling account of the adult life if Guillaume Belibaste, reputedly the last of the cathar 'perfects'. Apart from giving a vivid description of life in the southwest of France and the north east of Spain in the 13th century, it gives many telling insights into the inner life of a follower (no, leader) of the cathar faith, and the dangers and privation of their life, hounded by the catholic authorities as heretics ('albigensian'). ...more
