Hot as Hades

Alisha Rai (Goodreads Author)
"Ensnaring the ultimate bad boy has its risks...and its rewards. "
It's not easy being Hades. Constantly guarding his world against other meddling and ambitious deities is stressful work. So when a naked goddess falls directly into his lap, along with the news that he has to shelter her for the indefinite future, he is less than thrilled. Particularly since he can't help b

A caveat: I don’t like novellas. I try to stay away from them as much as possible, especially in erotic romances. I’ve found that most novellas in that genre lack substance and turn into 100 pages of porn without plot. So when I won this book in a giveaway, I was a little apprehensive. I loved Rai’s Glutton For Pleasure but was she talented enough to make me do backflips over a short story? The answer is yes. Hells yes with bells on.

Lou – I loved Hades so much. He was sarcastic, he was immature, and he had a temper, but he was oh so funny. Alisha really made a wonderful character and hero out of him. I liked that he had a hidden soft side, but he also had a very very smexy side. The first scene when Sephie first met Hades was very erot...more

I love the cheeky "warnings" at Samhain publishing and I think this one says it all: Warning: Contains an arrogant god, a stubborn goddess, horny deity nookie and enough supernatural friction to set the Underworld on fire.
Really, they had me at "horny deity nookie"...

This is not a super-short novella, which I really enjoyed since you get more character development out of them. This is Hades and Persephone as we should know them. Did you ever get creep-ed out that Hades was Persephone's uncle? And that he kidnapped her and forced her to eat pomegranate seeds for every month that she had to stay with him during the course of a year? Well, if that's the case then this short story will solve all those problems, plus you'll get a really fun and modern Persephone...more
Hot As Hades by Alisha Rai
I don't expect the meaning of life when I read an erotica. But I do like some romance and humor thrown into a sexy story. This quick read by Rai is exactly how I like my erotica....fast-paced and hot! It's a fun, extremely sexy, mythologically-inspired quickie. And she does a fabulous job making us care about the characters in a short amount of time. She also manages to squeeze in some emotion and a sweet HEA. The sexy-hot meter on this one is in the Naga Viper chili pe...more

This story was delightful and fun. How creative - a new take on the Greek Myth of Hades and Persephone. Great beginning- she falls right into his lap from out of nowhere. Naked! How could you not keep reading? This novella was definately a step above- well written, a fully realized romance squeezed in and vivid characters. I think RT Times made a mistake labeling this novella erotic, it should instead be labeled hot or burning. The sex isn't the main focus of the story as an erotic romance novel...more
Prelim Review: This was amusing, sexy and damn if Hades wasn't wickedly awesome. I like Rai's take on the whole Persephone/Hades romance--and the rather irreverent tone she took when dealing with the other gods. Persephone too was delightful--stubborn and winsome, I could see how Hades fell in love with her.
The snarky tone that Hades employed when talking about his job or Persephone's chiding 'don't be an idiot' comments made me smile. While I don't think he necessarily enjoyed his job, he defin...more

Alisha Rai retells the story of Hades, god of the underworld and his would-be bride, Persephone goddess of green stuff, minus the ick factor and more of the funny and sexy. The Samhain warning reads like this:
If you’re familiar with Alisha Rai’s work then you know after a “warning” like this you’re probably in for a sexin’ good time.

When the goddess Persephone lands naked on the Lord of the Underworld’s lap, they are both confused. Persephone was just getting out of her river bath when boom! She was transported to the underworld. Hades has no idea who this naked woman is, although happy she is naked and on his lap but suspicious as to why she is there. After grilling her (and okay, maybe fondling her a bit) he realizes she is truly clueless as well. He decides he is going to send her back, but when he tries nothing happens....more
Definitely not bad - haven't read much M/F romances this year and I've seen this book promoted, so I decided to give it a try since Samhain is one of my trusted publishers. It's lived up to its quick, fast, romantic, and slightly unbelievable romp with a very vague semblance of Greek mythos thrown in. I don't know, I don't like a lot of cleansing in the Greek myths because part of their appeal to me is their chaotic, brutal, and wicked sense of justice. Good fun.

Cute, sexy story about Hades and Persephone. I loved Hades' character. I found him funny and sexy. Persephone was okay but I felt like she wasn't as fleshed out as Hades. I didn't feel the romance between the two and I felt that the sexual chemistry was a little one-sided. Despite those issues, I enjoyed the story a lot. The story kept me engaged and the plot flowed smoothly. I will definitely be reading more works by this author.

Sigh - almost 4 stars (3.75)
:)
Nice hot little story that one!
I liked the fact that despite Hades's being an ancient God, He is still cool and collected (and sexy as Hell - pun intended).
Just one problem - Why so short?
If it was longer Hades could have acted out some more as a bad-boy sexy God.... I just love bad-boy sexy Gods (or half gods with a leathal hand, a gotee and a name that's starts with V....)
Anyway - GO READ!

And this would be how I like romance, two complete opposites finding a common ground...or something like that, I like apha males and alpha females, I like the characters to clash and disagree on small stuff, but connect on bigger things, which is what these characters did. Hades being the arrogant JACK and Sephie, being strong and independent.Actually independent, not described as independent and end up being whiny.

I can't think that it's because I know the myth, but there was so little conflict in this book. Nothing felt urgent or like anything was really standing in the way of the relationship from happening.
By the time I hit 50% through my Kindle book (the book ends at 82% by the way), I was ready for it to be over.
Still looking for a good Hades/Persephone myth retelling - such great stuff there.

This book is a really good read for a lazy afternoon, nothing too deep. No great troubles, difficulities and of course it's short.
Even after a sentence I could tell, this book won't really have me and will be a one-time read. And I was right. Let's begin with the first problem: I couldn't place the story in time. I suppose it was in the time of the ancient greek, but for that the language was... off. If not for the names I wouldn't have been able to tell that I'm reading about dieties

A contemporary take on the Hades/Persephone story that makes full use of its mythical setting while also renegotiating some of the less palatable plot points. Hot and fun, with banter and some really compelling side characters (ie a wacky Cerberus and a Zeus that models the best and worst of upper management).
Three reasons why you should read this book:
1: Hades & Persephone - The Romantic Version
"Maybe you decided to ignore an age-old treaty and come out for a jaunt just to play big bad hellhound and the scared little pussy."
2: Persephone - The Temptress
[Hades] raised a brow. "You're in the mood to obey me?"
"I suppose so."
"Why?"
Her smile grew wider. "Because you want me to disobey you."
3: Hades - The Man With a Plan
"You're going to stay here. With me. No arguments. Now, sex."

I loved Hades!!! Who cares about historical inaccurances?! He was cute, cute, cute bad boy!!! Sephie was also cute and funny and she teased Hades mercilessly!
I surprised myself when I laughed reading an erotic novella!
And, even if it was steamy, it was surprisingly "chaste" for an erotic read.
Great job! :D

This was great, I felt like I was reading an "Immortals After Dark" book. The author's voice sounded very close to Cole's voice. Hades was perfect, the right shade of bad and sweet. Persephone balanced Hades, she didn't take any of his crap and brought light into his world. A very good and satisfying quickly.
I really enjoyed this funny sexy great read, just a few nit picks - dressing a ancient god in a tie and a gold watch?? and mention of putting some one in a nuns habit .. Shouldn't it be a vestal vigins outfit? Other than those WTF moments I really enjoyed it will be looking for more from this author
This was my first read from this author and thoroughly enjoyed it. The sex was hot and there were several moments in the story where I laughed out loud. I love the three-headed Cerberus that was a combination house pet and majordomo. Each head had it's own name: Right, Middle, and Bob.
I liked this reworking of the Greek myth. I will have to check out this author's other writings.

This is an interpretation of the legend of Hades and Persephone told in a PNR format. I enjoyed the story although it was more a novella in length. It was actually kinda sweet despite lots of smex.
An interesting interpretation of greek mythology. I really liked how Hades reacts to Sephie, it's kind of cute))
