Useful secondary source for an analysis of Quentin Compson between The Sound and the Fury and Absalom, Absalom!. Schoenberg includes a chronology, a list of other works in which Quentin Compson appears (by name or by suggestion), and a claim that Quentin, not Thomas Sutpen, operates as the primary character in Absalom, Absalom!.

Robert Dale Parker, another Faulkner scholar, refers to Schoenberg's effort as "a poorly thought through" work based around "intriguing selections." Interestingly, Parker
