OI really, really liked this story...a lot. It was so real life, so relatable, so believable in most aspects. Jason and David are RCMP officers and now I want to go to Canada and check these hotties out.
David is a divorced father with 3 small kids. Jason is his partner at work. David is straight and Jason is openly gay with friends and family but not at work. David finds himself attracted to and protective of Jason. He doesn't understand it but he accepts it. This is obviously a "gay for you" st...more

You know what I absolutely loved about this story and most M/M that I read? It has a way of pulling your heart strings and making you so emotionally invested with the characters that you are hanging on every word.
Jason is a cop in a town where if he comes out as being gay, there could be horrible consequences. When a snowstorm blows into town, Jason offers his partner, David, a man who he is secretly jonesing for in every way, his spare room when he can't get back home. Everything changes from t...more

Sometimes It’s Fate is a wonderful treasure among M/M erotic stories. It is a story about ‘real’ people in actual life issues. Yes, it’s a HEA story (why read one that’s not? Seriously.) but there are some very hard hitting issues that these two men have to deal with, abandonment of children, coming out to self much less others, possible HIV issues (see Interview for excerpt that references this), etc.

Chris recommended this one. It's two mounties in New Brunswick. David is 34, divorced with three small children and best friends with his partner Jason. One day he inadvertently finds out Jason is gay. Jason has hidden it for obvious reasons. Suddenly David clues in to his attraction to Jason and they start an affair. Things are going well until Jason's fuck-buddy shows up HIV positive and he and Jason didn't use condoms. However this was not the kind of drama where David freaks out, he...more

Sometimes It's Fate really sets itself apart from many of the m/m books on the market today through it's extremely realistic progression of friends to lovers within the gay for you subgenre along with the emotional affects of a possible HIV diagnosis on a committed relationship. Each emotion tugged the reader further into the story and you soon became fully enmeshed in the lives of new couple Jason and David.

When you start reading this one, I suggest you read the Author's Notes at the beginning. They clarify some things in the book and for me they even gave a whole new feel to the book. Maybe I could say – a dose of reality.

Solid GFY that explores realistic issues such as new relationships, step-parenting, HIV and coming out.

One night they are snowed in and Jason's secret is revealed which causes David to acknowledge some strong feelings of his own. Even though at times it seemed slow, and there were quite a few editing errors with missing words/letters I really enjoyed reading this book. The romance between Jason and David was nicely written and believable and their characters were well drawn. Though I admit at times David seemed a bit too perfect as he seemed to handle being attracted to Jason (where before he thought himself straight) and the HIV scare almost too easily. Than again that is part of the reason why I enjoyed the book so muc...more
This is a nicely written story about friends to lovers. David, divorced with 3 children, and Jason, his police partner, realise that they have feelings for each other. The story centres around David, who is not gay, acknowledging his growing feelings for Jason. There are some family dramas, issues with David's ex-wife, problems with one of Jason's buddies and a bit of police action. The sex scenes are well written.
Some of the scenes did not seem entirely required for the plot (view spoiler)...more

After finishing Sometimes It’s Fate, written by Angela Stone, I am left somewhat perplexed. Not perplexed about the book itself, which was very enjoyable, more so about a pivotal juncture I have reached in my own life upon reflecting on the content of this book! If you have not had the opportunity of reading a book written about male/male relations, I highly suggest that Sometimes It’s Fate be your first.

I read Angela S Stone’s second book in this series first, BOOTS ON THE GROUND, and it was an epic read, a highly recommended book. I was so impressed I asked Ms Stone for the first book in the series, SOMETIMES IT’S FATE to get to know the back story of one of Boots’s MCs. SOMETIMES IT’S FATE is not only the first book in the series, it is Ms Stone’s debut novel. Her growth as a writer is starkly apparent. While the second book is outstanding the first one is “merely” very good. Is that a put do...more
I didn't like either of the main characters and it seemed like the author just kept adding every possible issue you can think of for a gay couple. It was not believable at all and I had a hard time finishing it ..
Spoiler alert -
Also what happened to Jason signing up to go to afghanistan, she had a chapter about him wanting to go and signing up for the police volunteer thing and nothing ever happened, it was never mentioned again, just another example of the author trying to just add in as much...more

I really, really liked this book, but I have to tell you that I was completely emotionally spent at the end. This author is incredibly good at painting a picture with her words, I felt almost voyeuristic while reading. It's also one of those novels that once I started it I was compelled to finish it, I HAD to know what was going to happen next in the lives of Jason and David.

3.5 stars. I really liked the characters & the story. The writing style was a little strange. Seemed rushed in places & went off on tangents in others. Some things didn't completely make sense. But overall I thought it was a relatable & steamy little story.
