Once, Miranda felt a little exposed…

Miranda Hill can’t believe her eyes—her cocky ex-boyfriend, pro-hockey player Dane Croft, is back in Bluebonnet, Texas, after all these years. He ditched her – and their little town – just as some rather shocking photos showed up on the internet for the whole town to see. Miranda wasn't so lucky. Stuck in Bluebonnet and left to fend for...more

Welcome to Bluebonnet, Texas, a fictional town just north of Houston....Let me go on record as saying if Bluebonnet was real, I would be packing up my stuff and heading up from just south of Houston! Ms. Clare has created a fun, friendly, small town with to die for men and feisty women!

The Girl's Guide to (Man)Hunting is a sexy, funny story about life in a small town, revenge, redemption and best laid plans going awry. Miranda has a lot of anger, resentmen...more

I didn't enjoy this one at all. It's about Miranda who wanted to take revenge on her ex-boyfriend (whom she hated very very very much). She wanted to ruin his reputation with dirty photos, same like he did to hers nine years ago. I would've let things go and move on and let the past be just that, past. Why muck everything up for the things that happened nine years ago? Then again, I'm not an immature 27 year-old tramp.

And i use the word tramp very loosely. Miranda came on Dane way too strongly f...more

The Girl's Guide to (Man) Hunting
by Jessica Clare
(Bluebonnet # 1)

This first installment of the Bluebonnet series has kicked off with a sweet, romantic and hot start. If you like small town settings with characters that are easy to fall in love with, this is the book for you.

Miranda Hill is Bluebonnet’s Librarian with her nickname “Boobs of Bluebonnet”. She was given this name in high school as half-naked pictures of her had surfaced...more

When I picked up The Girl’s Guide to (Man) Hunting by Jessica Clare, I really needed a light and fun read. I had just finished reading a very heavy and dark urban fantasy book and needed a complete change of direction. I needed to giggle and blush. When this book arrived, I thought it would be just perfect to lighten my mood. But even if it did fit the ‘complete change of direction’ requirement, it didn’t work well to make me giggle and blush. I just did...more

I first saw the book with its stunning cover and its sexy title at Barnes & Noble, I knew I had to get my hands on it as soon as possible. What did the author mean by man hunting I wondered? Now I know. It stands for one word. Revenge.

Miranda and Dane had made out - and done other things - in a closet on the last day of senior year. The next day, Dane left for the NFL without a single word to Miranda and pictures popped up over the web of what they did in the closet. Bluebonn...more

Quick & Dirty: Things get spicy in a little Texas town.

Opening Sentence: Like everything else bad that happened in Miranda Hill’s life, rear-ending old Mrs. Doolittle was purely the fault of Dane Croft.

The Review:

Meet Miranda Hill, small town girl, librarian and part time helper in her mother’s antique shop. She used to be a good girl, and still mostly is, with one really awful exception. One night. One party. One glaring example of what young love could d...more

Let me start off by saying that I really like Jill Myles (aka Jessica Clare for the purpose of this book). I like her sometimes quirky, but not too stupid heroines, and her pretty awesome heroes.

But this book? Not so much.

Maybe not having the heroine's 1st person POV has something to do with it, but I really just wanted to slap the heroine silly for the first half of the book. I mean really, what intelligent woman sets out on a 7-day survival-training camp with seduction in mind? Out in the wood...more

My Review:
What an incredibly sexy and entertaining book. I really, really enjoyed this one. For the last nine years, Miranda has been known as the Boobs of Bluebonnet. Right after graduation, she spent 7 minutes in a closet with Dane and that seven minutes ruined the rest of her life. Someone took photos and posted them on the internet, ruining her reputation and causing her mother’s nervous breakdown. Finally 9 years later, and Miranda‘s mom is finally stable enough again so that she can have h...more

Goodgirl Miranda Hill has lived years of shame when Dane Croft posted pictures of her ‘exposed’ on the internet. It is a scandal that continues to haunt her as the ‘Boobs of Bluebonnet.’ Since Miranda lives in a small town that knows everyone and everything this has made her life very rough. To make matters worse Dane just left town after the fallout to become a big athletic star.

But now Dane is back and sw...more

First just let me say that this book is HOT! Seriously. The chemistry between Dane and Miranda is electric and I found I had to fan my face quite a few times after reading one of their love scenes. I wasn't really sure if I would like this book. I'm not too big on revenge story-lines, but I found myself pleasantly surprised. I really liked this book and I definitely can't wait to read more from this author.

Miranda and Dane dated briefly when t...more

I'm making this short and sweet since I don't think I have one interesting thing to say about this book. The one word that keeps repeating over and over is meh. The character development was weak and Miranda was reduced to a killer set of knockers out for a little revenge. I can't believe I just wrote the word "knockers" but there it is. If I had to hear about her perfect and pretty breasts one more time, bad things were going to happen to my kindle. I get it! She's got a nice pair...more

Fun and sexy, this book is a light entertaining read perfect for hot summer days. The peacefulness of nature calls to Dane and Miranda, well maybe Miranda is a slightly stronger call than nature since Dane can’t seem to keep his hands off her.

Once you read the blurb for The Girl’s Guide to (Man) Hunting you might write Dane off as a jerk, a guy who doesn’t care about others and will never feel sorry for anything. And in a way that is true, but Dane has gone through a betrayal himself an...more

I really really wanted to like this one. I enjoyed the writing, but Miranda just drove me nuts. Actually, Dane did too. And all the sex they're having in the woods while there are other people not that far away? You'd think sound would travel... I got about halfway through and DNF'd it. I might try the author's next book, but I hope there aren't as many improbable situations to try to ignore.

Small towns can be brutal to live in when you’re in the middle of gossip and scandal. Miranda had pictures taken of her during a private moment with Dane when they were in high school and naked pictures of her ended up online. Dane left town the next day, heading to the NHL, a dream he had been working toward for years and Miranda was left to deal with the fallout. Her mother had a breakdown and Miranda had to endure the small town whispering and gossip a...more

Miranda Hill and Dane Croft got hot and heavy at the end of high school in a closet at a party. But to Miranda's devastation, pictures of what they did inside the closet ended up on the Internet, and Dane left the next day to pursue a NHL hockey career without a word to Miranda. Left in the small town of Bluebonnet, Texas, by herself, Miranda became known by a derogatory nickname because of what ended up on the Internet. Her mother suffered a nervous breakdown because of the shame. Dane went on...more

THE GIRL’S GUIDE TO (MAN) HUNTING just didn’t wow me. It had some awesome hot wooded scenes and I really liked when everything came out toward the end.

Miranda Hill has lived with the scrutiny that only a small town can produce since the scandalous photos surfaced of her on the web 9 years ago. Now, she’s two weeks from moving and starting her new job, but before she goes it’s time to get revenge.

Believing Dane Croft was the one behind the photos, as he was the one she was i...more

What I Thought: At first I was a little hesitant to read The Girl's Guide to Man(Hunting) I was worried that it would just be this crazy chick hell bent on ruining an ex's life. Instead I read a book that had me laughing at points, and at others had me running for a glass of ice water. Whoo-ee let me tell you, if you don't like a heavy dosing of erotica with your romance than The Girl's Guide to Man(Hunting) is NOT the book for you.

Miranda is a head strong woman who's back in her little town in Texas where she once had 7 minutes of hell with a man named Dane. Years later, when she comes back to town, she vows to wreak vengeance on him after he had exploited a not-so-decent photo of her breasts all over the internet causing her to move in the first place. Best vengeance to wreak on a man she realizes... Sex! She tortures poor Dane at his outdoor wilderness camp and when it's all said and done, Miranda is not so keen on cont...more

2.5 stars..

This is a story of a fair girl Miranda Hill, from the town of Bluebonnet, with BIG boobs - uh, basoomas- and even BIGGER brown eyes.

Everyone mercilessly caller her 'Boobs of Bluebonnet' because of an unfortunate prank years ago that she thought her ex, Dane Croft (dashing name, huh?), played on her by uploading their intimate pics online. She hid her pain and embarrassment beneath a stiff upper lip and worked like an honest, independent and responsible citizen in the local library. W...more

I picked this book up when I learned from Twitter that Jessica Clare is also Jill Myles (love her Succubus books). It was well worth the read. The only problem I had with the book was it was a tad too predictable, in most cases. The ending was epic and great, though.

I enjoyed the dynamic between Miranda and Dane. I loved how the conflict was a tad more steamy than the usual conflict as well. The sensuality in this book is amazing, there are a lot of nice wooded outside sex scenes and they are al...more

I’m a bit torn about The Girl’s Guide to (Man) Hunting, I liked rather than loved the main characters Miranda and Dane, and although it had oodles of hot outdoor smexy scenes there wasn’t really that much else to it.

Miranda and Dane went to school together in Bluebonnet and found themselves getting very hot and heavy in a cupboard at a high school party. As Dane leaves Bluebonnet to be a hotshot hockey player Miranda is hurt at being left behind and finds out that photographs of their make out...more

The Girl's Guide to (Man) Hunting is another fun and sexy read by Jessica Clare a/k/a Jill Myles. Jill Myles is a favorite author of mine. She knows how to bring the humor and sexiness to her romance novels and this book was no exception. After reading this, I will never look at camping the same way.

Miranda Hill is the town librarian who is notorious for her Internet rendezvous with former boyfriend and ex-NHL star, Dane Croft. She has spent the last nine years with an awful reputation and nickn...more

This book shows how a glich in the communication can bring a lot of trouble and sometimes make you hate the wrong people.

Miranda really can't think properly in Dane's presence and pass as careless at times in the name of the revenge, without paying attention to the changes in him, It frustrates me at points.

Dane on the other hand is oblivious and so deep in his fantasy girl that doesnt push for info when he should

The end with Dane's grand gesture is something you will never expect.

It's the perfect erotic novel for beginners. It's dirty enough but there is nothing hardcore about the sex scenes.

Even at the beginning of the story, you get the "vibe" that Dane is not really responsible for the scandal that ruined Miranda. So when she goes to the surviving camp to get her revenge, you know it's gonna backfire. I was always waiting for the shit to hit the fan and it spoiled the story for me.

The grand gesture that preceded the happy ending is funny and easy.

I'm new to this whole erotica scene, and I have to admit I'm not a fan! Verdict: I couldn't bond well with the main characters, so the sex scenes alone just didn't do anything to me. If there was more romance involved or more background information on the characters may be I could have enjoyed their rendezvous better.

I really wanted to like this more, but I just couldn't. I found myself skimming just so it could end faster. I didn't want to quit the story altogether just because I did want their issue resolved. I did like the chemistry between the H/h, it was pretty steamy at times, but all that steam kinda watered down the story, if that makes any sense. However, I did like the ending a lot. I found the hero's extreme gesture to say he's sorry very funny and sweet. And let me tell you, it was som...more

Overall, I enjoyed this book a lot. I read this book after I finished the Fifty Shades trilogy. I liked the change in scenery. I thought that Miranda was a clever person, but sooooo weak. I wish she would have teased Dane a little more to make it more spicy when they finally "got it in."
Anne Dirty Girls' Good Books
This would have been a 5 star read for me, but I didn't like the last 1/4 of the book as much as the first 3/4. I was happy with the resolution in the end, though, and I'm hoping there will be another Bluebonnet book! The writing was good and funny. I liked the characters. It was a good read for me.
Patti Loves FAB Romance
The story was just a bit too far-fetched for me. Between Dane leaving his (adult) students for sex in the woods and Miranda instigating it - after what happened to her 9 years ago I didn't buy it.

The scene at the end was one of the cutest I've read tho...
Emily
This could have been a good story, but it just fell flat. If it wasn't for a few funny lines I would have gave it a 1*. It's a shame when a good story is ruined by writing it to quickly and being dependent on sex scenes. Granted the sex was hot;)

This is a pen name for Jill Myles.

Jill Myles has been an incurable romantic since childhood. She reads all the 'naughty parts' of books first, looks for a dirty joke in just about everything, and thinks to this day that the Little House on the Prairie books should have been steamier.

After devouring hundreds of paperback romances, mythology books, and archaeological tomes, she decided to write a fe...more
