It is no surprise to me that the author of this is a TV animator and I would love to see this as a short animated film. This is the sort of funny stuff that will appeal to a wide range of kids--toddlers won't get this and it would be hard to read to them, but kindergarteners and their older siblings will eat this one up. My Warner Brothers loving high school senior needs to see this one!

This book is supercute – since I read it first, I have read it so many times over already. The kids love it too and cannot resist returning to read it. Beep the robot and Bah the goat, along with the many other animals they meet on their adventure are delightful.
A missing sock – that is something everyone is familiar with; who has not wondered where a single sock from each of our pairs has vanished to? Well, in this story, when Bah finds one single sock early one morning and goes to his friend...more

Beep, a confident and curious robot, and Bah, a goat who prefers to stay at home, set off on an adventure that involves finding the missing mate to a red-striped sock Bah finds. Guided by "the smell of adventure" (unpaginated), they offer it to a variety of possible owners, including a pig, a chicken, and a bull. Up and down hills and through quicksand they go, but no one claims the sock. The text and illustrations contain some clever word play and visual humor, and readers will laugh when they...more

So this book proves that robots are possible best friends. And so are goats. But robots are cooler. So Beep and Bah are best friends (I know, I just said that...but goats also repeat themselves so I'm okay in saying it twice). Bah wakes up one day and finds one sock. And Beep comes to the rescue to try to help Bah find the matching sock. They go all over while Beep asks various animals if they know where the other sock is and if the sock belongs to them. It is quite the adventure. The fun, brigh...more

* I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*

Beep and Bah take off on an adventure to look for a missing sock. Their journey takes them through many twists and turns and even underwater. They visit with lots of different animals but still can’t figure out who the sock belongs to. In the end, they find themselves at the end of the road and have to go back.

This book was cute but it didn’t hold Lilly’s interest as well as others. I thin...more

In this fun graphic novel, the duo of Beep, a know-it-all accident prone robot, and Bah, a goat who doesn't have much to say, go on an adventure to find the matching pair to a sock. Along the way they (mostly Beep) face challenges and obstacles.

This fun graphic novel's drawings look like a cartoon and will grab readers instantly and will make them laugh out loud (specifically the last page).

(Also a great book to teach onomatopoeia and types of animals including the Giant Squid [connects with [...more

Meet Beep and Bah. Bah is a laid back goat that lives inside a trashcan. Beep is an adventure seeking robot who will let nothing stand in the way of a good quest. Together these two set out to find a missing sock. They journey through mountains, dangerous terrains, face fierce animals, and a couple of oddball characters in their search for the missing sock. This peculiar duo will have you smiling from ear to ear as they try to solve this puzzling mystery. Illustrator and writer James Burks, who...more

When Bah finds one white sock with red stripes, it's Beep who suggests they go on an adventure that will bring them in the end to the missing, matching mate. No worries if they must go over hill and valley, through quicksand, or even under water where the myth of giant sea creatures is either proved or disproved (no spoilers here folks). Animal friends are joyfully rendered in Burks' quirky animation background style. A square pig is not to be missed early on in this fun picture book that will d...more

This book has such a simple, but odd, concept and it makes it work. Bah, the goat, finds one sock. Beep, the robot, makes it his mission to find the mate for this single sock. Together the pair search high and low and ask every animal along the way if they have seen the matching sock. This silly story contains so much subtle humor in the reactions of the questioned animals and the signs along the way as Beep and Bah look for the sock, that it bears repeated reading. Kids especially love the surp...more

I thought this book was really fun!
I like how it's kind of a comic book/graphic novel/picture book all in one!
Beep and Bah are the perfect duo on this ridiculously fun adventure.

I love all the animal sounds too.
The colors and illustrations are bright and fun.

Haiku Review:

What? A single sock?
we must adventure out and
find the other one.

After discovering a sock, a robot and goat begin a journey to find its pair. As they travel over mountains and even in the sea they meet many animals, but never find the other sock. Kids will have a laugh at the last page as they will see where the sock is. This book is basically a cartoon in book form.

A robot and a goat go on an adventure looking for a missing sock in this graphic-novel format picture book. Humorous. Most of the characters have a squarish-robot looking feel (I thought the goat was a robot at first) A fun intro to comic-book style reading for the younger set.

This one is bizarre in a good way. I'm a little unsure of the read-aloud potential, because the illustrations might be too small, but they are great. The blocky animals and quirky, upbeat robot are great fun, and the punchline on the last page will keep kids giggling throughout.

Beep the robot and his friend Bah the goat seek out the missing mate of a sock. Their adventure is told through colorful sequential art. The wild landscapes and personality filled animal characters create a comic set up for the talkative Beep. Young readers will enjoy this silly story and fun illustrations.
Laura
Beep the Robot and Bah the Goat try to find the missing mate for a sock. The visit a bunch of animals, all of whom make their distinctive animal sounds. Finally, after visiting as many animals as they could find, the missing sock is revealed, stuck to the side of the goat.

I still think the ox should have been a bull, especially since Beep said 'Ole!' when he was tossed by the ox's horns.

Arranged in graphic novel-like panels, the pictures are vibrant and fun and the text is very easy to follow....more

OK...if I say this is a dumb story, will you understand that I mean that in a really cheerful, amusing, satisfying way?

Also, the wordless, Seussian, loop-de-loop landscape half-way through is a winner.

One of the funnest kids books I've read. My son laughs and laughs. Can't wait to find more by this author. Wendy, the author worked on The Emperor's New Groove....thought you'd like it.

Grades K-2. Picture book format graphic novel. Beep finds a single sock laying on the ground and asks Bah if he knows who it belongs to. They journey up mountains, down valleys, across rivers, until they can travel no more. A funny twist at the end is not what you expect. From the author of Gabby and Gator (one of our favorites).
Mary
Odd, yet entertaining book about a goat and a robot who go on an "adventure" as they search for the lost mate of a tube sock. What's not to love? Did I mention it was odd?
Marcie
I did like this as a beginning graphic novel to teach the elements. I also think ESL teachers might enjoy the animal labels. It's silly, but I bet kids will like it.

Really loved reading this hilarious picture book. My son loved the silliness, adventure, and simple dialogue- he read most aloud to me with robot voice. What fun.
Robin
Yet another offbeat and highly entertaining picture book featuring a robot and his friend who try to find the mate to a single sock. Silliness abounds!

A robot and his goat friend travel from animal to animal searching for a missing sock. The illustrations were lively and there were some funny moments.

So very silly. I read it to students at literacy nigh and they got a kick out of it! Who'd have thought a sock could inspire a whole book.
Elisabeth
Should I have found this book as funny as I did? Who knows, who cares. It had a little Jan Thomas and a little Elephant and Piggie.
