At 187 pages this was a fast read book. The heroine is a girl from a very poor family that goes to live with her Aunt and Uncle to work in their boarding house in Ouray, Colarado near the Silver Mines. Miss Pippi the Librarian
Deborah travels to Ouray to seek out a new life and forget the old. Yet on her trip to start over, she is led to her past.

Mining, mystery, boarding houses, family, and a handsome sheriff come together in Coogan's novel. The story started our relatively strong and compelled me to continue. Unfortunately the wrap up was too quick. I understand that Avalon Historical stories are usually nice and neat novellas, I would have liked to see Coogan develope her story to novel length. The picture on the front threw me off because you can see vehicles in the parking lot of the building, but this is set in the 1800's. There were a couple of errors in the book that should have been caught too. The characters voices did not sound like they were authentic to that time period either. But overall this was still a cute clean read.
