Blood and Guitars (Blood and Guitars #1)
by
Heather Jensen (Goodreads Author)
I was living a rock star’s dream and, from the outside looking in, I had everything a guy could wish for. But there was something missing. I had never imagined there was anything better than having thousands of devoted fans scream out my name. That all changed the night I looked into her poison green eyes. - Trey

I started reading this book thinking that I was going to read one more book about vampires. Fortunately, it is not just one more book about vampires. And luckily the vampires in this book doesn't resemble in the least bit the ones in that other series of books that you all have in mind. It is nice, for a change, to see vampires that can go out during the day and have no problems with eating garlic. The story is very original too, and that's what made me feel like reading it, among other reasons....more
Technically, this book should score a 3.5, but wonderful Goodreads.com doesn't believe in halfsies!
So meet Aurora, a vampire who is an artist- a painter to be exact- who is a bit rebellious. She one night is looking for her next meal (i.e., blood), when she meets Trey - A rock star-, and instead of making him dinner, she starts dating him. In the process of trying to hide this from the other vamps and trying to keep her vamp secret from Trey, you get to see how secrets can lead to trouble... Som...more

YUMMY!! I love a book that makes me wish I could jump into the story and hang with the characters. Aurora has a cool vibe and more than just her low body temp. And Trey...well, Trey just sounds fab and dreamy. Both are mellow in how they handle their talent and abilities. I like how they find each other at the club. It's like every fan-girl's dream of having the rock star of their yen in need of rescue and being able to do so in a superb fashion with some HEA possible.

This was an interesting twist on the whole vampire-falls-in-love-with-a-mortal idea since the girl is the vampire and the guy is the mortal. You don't see that much and it was interesting. Another interesting stylistic choice was the use of a double first-person narration. Although sometimes confusing about who was talking, it was unique. I found the story to be a bit slow and focused more on the band and too many details to really get into the meat of the romance, it was a good book. Trev is a...more
A captivating story of vampires and rock stars! Trey and Aurora are believable characters that you find yourself caring about - I think I'm actually a little bit in love with Trey myself!
There are fresh takes on vampires here. The way they exist, keep their identities hidden, and use their powers have all been dealt with originally. The characters and their backstories are strong, and so are the supporting characters - you'll love the rest of Trey's band!

Saving for a rainy day... Although, it has been raining an awful lot lately... One day, I suppose. :)
I am totally in love with vampire books. That being said this book captivated me from the start.
It took me time to get through the book just because of life in general got in my way. I would try to read when I could which was mostly when I should have been asleep and would end up going to bed at least 2 hours late each time I did that. Finally I sat down one day and I told everyone I was busy andwasn'tgoing to do anything else till I finished the book andthat'swhat I did!
As soon as I finished
This book was cute, but a little pedantic. The plot was similar to other vampire books: vampire falls in love with human, human’s life is endangered because of it, vampire turns human (or in the case of this book, plans to turn human).
There are some salient points that give this story enough of a difference to encourage me to read book 2 in the series (Immortals And Melodies). The vampires are not harmed by sun or garlic, they just have extra powers when the moon is up. The human in this case...more

so I know you’re gunna laugh at me, but with and aversion to the vampers, I sure do seem to read a lot of them! HA! And I almost didn’t sign up to read this one because of the vampire aspect but I’m really glad I did. At first, I was thinking the whole vampire loves a human story was done already, BUT I really enjoyed that fact that the vampire is an ARTISTIC WOMAN vampire and a MUSIC GENIUS male human. I think this is my first turning point on a positive note.

I found the idea of a vampire artist falling in love with a human rock star kind of new and engaging. Even though it is another story about humans and vampires falling in love, it's nothing like you've ever read before.
The story of Aurora and Trey's romance is achingly sweet. Aurora has never felt more alive than when she is with Trey and his bandmates, letting their easy going attitude rub off on her and letting herself get caught up in what the feeling of new love brings. And Trey has taken a...more

Cute story - when I first heard this title, I thought.. what could be better than aa Vampire rock star!!!
But ok - I was wrong. Trey isn't a vampire... he's a rock star - His band is taking a break from their first tour, and trying to get new material together for their next album.
When he's at a club during open mike night. Trying out his new stuff to see if it's passable, he happens to run into a lady - literally.

Heather Jensen’s debut novel, “Blood and Guitars,” tells the story of Aurora and Trey—a vampire and a human who risk everything for love.
This modern-day, albeit paranormal, love story begins with a flourish, introducing readers to the tragically beautiful Aurora, while offering a glimpse into the secret world of vampires that she inhabits. The pace slows when Aurora meets Trey, and the lines between their two worlds slowly disappear. This part really showcases Jensen’s solid writing and more tha...more

This book managed to grab my attention after only the first couple of chapters. I could tell that it was going to be something different in the world of vampires and I was pretty excited about that. Sometimes it is hard to find something different and unique than what is already out there.
Then to see that this book would be alternating between point of views between Aurora and Trey was just even better. I love it when books do that because it is always nice to be able to tell what both main char...more

3.5 stars.
First and foremost, if you feel strongly about music and arts, this book is for you. If you want some action-packed paranormal vamp book, then I suggest, you go read something else. But then again, JP said that in book 2 there'll be lots of action scene. Though, who am I to actually prove that if I just finish this book today after four days? *shrugs*
So, this book was written in a two POV style. Uh, don't know what it's called. But the first one who's thoughts you'll read was Aurora's...more

Blood and Guitars was a great story about forbiden love between a young vampire and a young rock star. A chance meeting between the two at a bar changes both their lives forever. Trey who has been experiencing writers block is now full of lyrics. Aurora knows that spending so much time with Trey is dangerous when she starts to have feelings for him. Relationships between vampires and humans are forbidden. When Aurora is hired on by the band to do the artwork for their new album cover the wrong v...more

I really really enjoyed this book! I love the story and the way the characters are together - LOVE IT! Review to come!
I really liked Blood and Guitars, but it just wasn't exciting enough for me. It has a nice leisurely pace to it, which isn't a bad thing at all, but when you are reading it for review and not just for personal enjoyment it effects the rating as terrible as that is. Another reason I couldn't rate this book higher was that there was a lot of information left out on this book, like the inside/outs of what being a vampire means. Every vampire story is different in how vampires are created to what th...more
Well…in the interest of saving everyone time, (because this review is going to be a long one) I’ve decided to skip the witty banter and start this review with an epic sized SIGHHHHHHH.
That’s right folks…I am sighing, which if you know me at all means I am swimming in a pool of disappointment. A pool, (mind you) that I insist you join me in, so for the love of all that is holy, keep reading.

I write fantasy for teens and adults. When I'm not writing I enjoy traveling, killing Zombies on the Xbox, going to concerts, playing guitar, camping, and spending time with family and friends. I'm addicted to Oreos and flip-flops.

“Then his lips were on mine and I lost myself, overwhelmed by the surge of Trey’s emotions as they flooded through me. I kissed him back wanting to forget my fear of being discovered of putting him in danger and focus only on how good it felt being in his arms. After all relinquishing some control was a sacrifice worth making if it meant I could continue to live in this fantasy with Trey. But the dreaded tingling in my teeth started up again and I reluctantly pulled away.”
