Shelves: mystery, new-author
When I first picked up Let Sleeping Dogs Lie, I was hooked from the first page. What resonated with me was the fact that the central character, Mara Byrne, lost her husband of 30+ years without warning and that was only the beginning. In the first few chapters we watch her deal with grief and the good intentions of family and friends. But when Mara decides to move on with her life she finds a key to a safe deposit box that belonged to her husband. The box contains nothing more than a letter that ...more

Mara Byrne has the perfect life. She has been married for 30 years to the man she fell in love with at eighteen. He is her best friend, her lover and definitely her better half. She is also a successful author of “Alex Strange” mystery series. She is happily settled in her daily routine until Thomas Byrne suddenly dies of aneurysm. Still grieving, she unexpectedly comes across a love letter in Thomas’s bank locker. She starts questioning her life with her husband and decides that the best way to ...more

Thanks to Goodreads and Tami Kidd for the opportunity to read this book. I was hooked immediately. I am intrigued by the idea that you think you know someone and then find out they lead a whole other life and you had no idea. The mystery of it all. I think I would be devasted at the same time. I'm glad the main character had her wits about her to make those difficult decisions to go after the answers that brought resolution to the situation.

I received this ARC through LibraryThing members.
This book was a quick read, I read it in 2 sittings.
I liked the author's style of writing, the main points of the story were clear and well connected to everything else.
On the down side: I found numerous typos and grammar mistakes; since this wasn't the ARC and thus the published book, the mistakes won't be fixed.

This is a must read. It is one you do not want to put down once you start. I loved it. I hope Tami writes more. Everyone should try this.

This story delves into the insecurities of love and relationships - even when they are over through death.

Although Mara thought her life was perfect, after the death of her husband things are thrown into flux and the very real feelings of anxiety, disbelief and despair take over...however, there is no simple solution and that's where the mystery begins...

I don't give spoilers but will say that this is a well written mystery that keeps the reader guessing until the end - I'm glad it wasn't straig

The book was a little rushed due to detail in the story as well as grammatically. I felt like it could have been put into more detail and made the story flow more smoothly. Although, I found several spelling errors, I couldn't put the book down. It was a good, entertaining storyline.

Let me start by saying what a shame it is that the 40-odd reviews from haven't crossed over to the site, but at least you can still see them (scroll right down to the bottom of the author's book page) which is a good thing because this is an extremely entertaining and amusing read.

While our main character Mara grieves for her soulmate/husband of 30 years, it appears that he's left a mystery to solve in his wake (pardon the pun) that starts with the discovery of a letter from

Excellent story. Fairly quick read. Liked the fact that her love interest had the same name as the heroine in main character's novels.

Mara and Alex are sympathetic characters caught up in a web of secrets. The story moves quickly, and Tami Kidd's writing style is easy to read. The book is a good one for casual reading as it takes little concentration to enjoy. I received a complimentary copy of this book in order to review it.

I live in Baker, FL, located in the panhandle. I moved here from Arkansas in 2001 and fell in love with it. I am married to a wonderful man and have a beautiful daughter, who is my inspiration and hero.

I have a flock of unruly, slightly crazy chickens. Three very lazy and highly spoiled dogs who think they are the rulers of the roost, and they'd be right!

I love to read and write. I wish there wer
