My name is Addison Holmes, and I teach history at James Madison High School in Whiskey Bayou, Georgia. You might be under the assumption that my life went to the dogs when my fiancé left me at the altar for the home economics teacher, or when I got notice that my apartment building was going to be condemned, or even when I was desperate enough to strip to my unmentionables...more

Addison Holmes isn’t Whiskey Bayou’s everyday high school history teacher. When strapped for money, Addison takes a job dancing in a strip club. But her career is cut short when she recognizes her principal in the audience, tries to escape, and trips over his dead body in the parking lot. While in a drunken stupor over her circumstances, Addison meets detective, Nick Dempsey. They begin a cat and mouse relationship, while Addison seethes over the relationship of a former boyfriend. One part-time...more

This was a fun, fast read. We meet Addison as she is about to go onstage at a very seedy stripper bar in a desperate attempt to raise money for a down payment on a home. She is spotted by her school principal, causing Addison to get offstage fast. But as she makes a beeline through the parking lot she trips over the bloody, still-warm body of the same principal, throwing her into the middle of a murder investigation.
The lead detective is incredibly hot and sexy, which kind of freaks Addison out,...more

Really liked this! It reminded me very much of the Stephanie Plum series. The main character is fearless, cute and a trouble magnet - just like Stephanie Plum. Only Addison is a new and part time private detective working 'temporarily' for some extra cash. Her real job is as a middle school world history teacher. By the end of the book, though, the private detective gig may have become more like a full time and very permanant thing.
I would love to read more of this series - but I think there is...more

This review is from: Whiskey Rebellion (Romantic Mystery/Comedy) Book 1 (Addison Holmes Series) (Kindle Edition)
Once again Liliana Hart pulls out all the stop in this Romantic/Comedy/Suspense, it is a must read. This book was Funny, Smart, Dramatic, had Suspense and did I mention Funny. I laughed so hard I cried through the entire book, from the first page. The writing was spot on and I could see a...more

Review by Ursula: An entertaining, fun read. Addison has a knack for getting into trouble. She has horrible luck and it's only going to get worse. The story was well told from a first person point of view and moved the action on at a steady pace. Addison's mom, best friend and co-worker are the perfect addition to the story. They make the story more interesting and provide relief from Addison's horrible mishaps that seem to happen at an unnatural pace.

Nick, the cop working on the murder case tha...more

This was an extremely quick read. I procured it, as many others apparently have, through free books on my Kindle.

I enjoyed the mystery and the fun (and dirty) twist at the end but I often found the relationship between Addison and Nick a little ridiculous and forced. I get that it was supposed to instant and electric attraction, but really? Laying it on a bit thick there, aren't we?

Addison is a fun character and, in a way, I relate to her. She's a high school history teacher who has bitten off...more

This book was pretty fun and the antics were often action packed and over the top. The romance was more of an instant lust. I didn't get much of a mystery vibe from it since Addison didn't set out to solve the mystery, she was often in the right place to find clues and dead bodies. When she finally took initiative it was being stupid (confronting bad guys) rather than a more typical sleuth.

There were a lot of similarities to Stephanie Plum, and some of the same things happen (love interest pick...more

WHISKEY REBELLION: AN ADDISON HOLMES MYSTERY

I just finished this book and I spent one of the best days I’ve had lately by reading this. I love it when a book makes me sigh in disappointment because I’ve finished it. It had a lot going for it. It was humorous, mysterious, and sexy without being overly sexual. This book has a mystery that was not revealed until the very end. It has slapstick maneuvers and a fairly kick-butt heroine and a lovely sexy male protagonist (I won’t say hero since Addie c...more

I purchased this book for my Kindle and it got lost in the shuffle. I found it again, and I couldn't believe I let this one slip through the cracks. Sometimes you just need a fun read that makes you laugh out loud and this was just what I needed.

A high school teacher needs some extra cash and thinks she an make some quick cash working at a strip club, a job that lasts only through one dance. She ends up working for a friend as a Private Investigator. Bad news for Addison is trouble just seems t...more

nook book This is one of four books that I have been asked to review by Barnes & Noble. It was over 1100 pages, so I hope that the other three are shorter. It might be described as mystery light. Addison Holmes is a high school teacher who wants to earn more money to buy a house. She is about to be evicted from the condemned building in which she is living. She tries doing exotic dancing, but that only lasts about an hour. A friend who owns a detective agency gives her a job taking photos of...more

it's like Stephanie Plum 2.0, that's not to say it wasnt good because I really enjoyed the story and the characters ... it's like SP in the beginning before you were like omg shut up SP and pick a dude! Addison is a high school history teacher down on her luck so she starts as a "junior" PI at her best friend Kate's PI firm. Needless to say being a southern lady Addison's zeal for gossip and new job description get her into a few hot spots. Her sexy cop "boyfriend", neurotic dog loving "bff", an...more

At first I was very annoyed with this book. It seemed like a Stephanie Plum-knockoff - inexperienced PI who gets into ridiculous situations and is falling for a cop....but Addison grew on me.
No, it didn't make a lot of sense; apparently she had been her HS valedictorian but she really didn't make the best decisions. She lived in a condemned building yet drove a fancy car and had a huge TV. She had a juvenile feud with a former classmate and current coworker. But still she was pretty funny.
The "w...more

Oh my goodness, this book had my side in stitches from laughing so much!! Loved every moment of Addison's crazy adventures. I thought I was bad with the whole clumsy/bad luck thing, hahaha!! Oh Nick always seeming to come in the picture to add more fire to Addison's sarcastic personality, they were at some points way to much to handle (laughing wise) and boy the sexual tension!! I love my a hard ass cop, overbearing, protective cop in a story....just makes it all the more yummy and specially whe...more

This was a fun read! I loved the Georgia setting and the author is descriptive enough that it makes you feel as though you're really there. Addison is a comedy of bad luck - some of it self made - and I love her determination, spirit, and optimism. The story is well written and the mystery is believable and kept me guessing until all was revealed at the end. The romance aspect of the book was fun as well and it wasn't overdone and nauseating. All in all, it was a light fun read that left me with...more

A feel good light witty, suspenseful romance. Addison will keep you shaking your head with her unusual investigative skills and her poor judgements which pretty much lands her in trouble at every turn. Which is where sexy investigator,Nick comes in to assist Addison who is finding dead bodies everywhere she turns and boy do the sparks start flying between them. I don't want to spoil anything so lets just say..Good Book. Now I'm off to read the next book "Whiskey Sour"

Found this for free on Kindle. A silly Southern romance/murder mystery that opens with the klutzy school teacher heroine (who hates her day job) performing for the first time in a sleazy strip club to get some rent money she desperately needs. Silly is the operative word here, but as the book never takes itself too seriously, it does have a certain redneck charm. I'm not the target audience, but the tone of that opening scene made me curious enough to keep reading.

This was mostly a cute, fun read. The main character, Addison, is by turns amusing and annoying, the hunky love interest is hunky indeed, although they somehow manage to get through the entire book without ever actually having sex. This is obviously part of a series as there are all sorts of plot lines left dangling at the end. It was cute enough that I'm going to go look and see if there are additional books in the series.

Whiskey Rebellion is an entertaining comedy/mystery/romance. I enjoyed Hart's characters, especially Addison, her quirky, trouble-prone heroine. The book leaves some loose ends to be tied up in a future book or books, as is the case in most series. It does leave me interested in following up on Addison's further adventures.

I "purchased" this as a free Kindle download, so I was pleasantly surprised.

Addison Holmes takes being a PI to a whole new level. You never know what is going to happen to her. She tries her hands a being a stripper before trying the PI gig. She finds her principal dead in the parking lot and runs straight into the gorgeous Savannah Detective Nick. There is always a laugh and a trip to the Dairy Queen. Awesome Must Read if you are a fan of Liliana Hart.

So funny! This is the perfect light-hearted read for me. I tend to get into some pretty heavy literary stuff for a while, and then my brain needs a break with regular good, clean fun, and this book provided exactly what I was looking for! The characters are likeable and quirky, and the touch of slap-stick comedy made me laugh out loud. I'll be reading this one again!

God Bless Dairy Queen!!!
OMG. I loved this book. It is easily on my top 5 favorites books. I love the mystery. Addison is a great character and how can you not fall in love with her flaws. She has nine lives but the worst luck in the world. lol. And Nick, yummo! This is my kind of book, my genre of writing, so I was hooked from beginning to end. Cant wait to start Whiskey Sour.

This was such a great book. The main characters had sparks. I was guessing til the end of the book when the mystery was solved. The humor was in full force and I found myself laughing until I had tears at some points. I can't recommend a better book if you are looking for some fun, mystery and romance!!

This was a really fun, good, quick read. It has all the elements of a true comedy. Its amazing how many accidents this poor girl has. The hard conversations between Addison and Nick is like a couple who are getting a divorce but still love each other. The story was a good mystery. Very enjoyable.

This book was a fun and entertaining quick read. I would call this book a comedic mystery, there are many funny parts in this book and alot of good one liners. I found myself wanting to read more and I finished this in about a day while reading another book.
Megan
I could not stop laughing. Addison is so much fun and I would be highly entertained having someone as quirky as her for a friend. Loved this book from start to finish.
Stuart
A mishmash of detective story and what I assume was supposed to erotic romance. The Kindle equivalent of a dime store novel, if only that was all it had cost me.

Liliana Hart spent five years teaching music in the public education system. She molded America’s youth, busted kids for smoking pot in the restrooms, and broke up illicit affairs behind the stage on a regular basis. (Liliana’s Addison Holmes Mystery Series, about a small town teacher who gets into a whole lot of trouble, is somewhat autobiographical, but she won’t confess to which parts).
