The beginning of The Mosswoods was kind of slow--basically just introductions of the Mosswood family and forest--but the prologue kept me intrigued about what was going to happen. The second half of the book is when things really start to pick up. I was glued to my seat the whole time.

Poppy Mosswood is a character easy to relate to. She's at a crossroads. Should she follow in the footsteps of her family and become Keeper of the forest? Or...more

This was a really interesting story that at first reminded me of the baby that The Never Ending Story and The Princess Bride might have. The narrator’s voice was fairytale ish. It’s starts out very easy to read but then I got muddled until about the halfway point where it really picked up again.

I love Astrid’s style of writing and the plot was decent so honestly I’m not sure what was throwing me off. But I do know I absolutely hate Poppy’s mother. She doesn’t make any sense to me. Plus I think t...more

Title: The Mosswoods
Author: Astrid Yrigollen
Rating: 3.5 out of 5

The thing about this book that grabbed me from the beginning was the setting. Yrigollen does a very good job of describing the setting, Everything is so vivid and detailed I loved it.She also does an amazing job of creating the creatures, I especially love the Watty.

Poppy is a very good protagonist in a sense that I could see myself in her, she reached a point in her life where she has to choose between what her family things is her...more

Poppy Mosswood has lived for 17 years in the large family house next to a very large forrest. As a child she was told about the creatures that lived in the woods but at 17 Poppy hadn't thought about them for years. That is until she meets them. Sweet fantasy tale for young adults, was a great read and was a very nice way to spend an afternoon in the sun.. Can not wait to read the sequel.

Interesting book set in a fictional town that is surrounded by a magical forest controlled by the females of the Mosswood family. The problems begin when the current heiress to the forest comes of age but has not been told of her duty to the family. This is by omission because her parents do not want to restrict her life. To complicate this an unscrupulous
land developer has decided to use his son to seize the forest for development. The twists and turns are unexpected and it is an enjoyable book...more
