This book had potential but there are just too many issues with the book, series. The main issue is that of the premise of Lexi going to Briar Creek, to attend her cousin's funeral, and the main issue is that there is no need for her and her mother to go the funeral, They had completely ignored him for twelve years and all through the book Lexi keeps stating that she doesn't really know Austin and so why attend a funeral for someone you don;t know plus there is hatred between Lexi's and Austin's...more
I really discovered a gem when I came across this series. It is now one of my all time favorites!
Lexi Hunter and her mother are headed back to the town of Briar Creek after they receive a call that her cousin Austin has been killed. It has been 10 years since Lexi and her mom left Briar Creek. Lexi starts to notice some very strange things going on around her and begins her own investigation into the death of her cousin. Some things just don’t add up and makes her form more questions rather than...more

I found Kiss of Death as an Amazon Suggestion. The synopsis looked interesting and I admit it the cover is pretty. The story drew me in immediately and had enough twists and turns to keep me guessing which is hard to do. The only reason I didn't give this five stars was because certain parts of the story felt like they happened too quickly such as parts of the romance. But I would recommend this for anyone who likes vampire romance with mysterious storylines.

OMG! SO GOOD! Love the name Lexi!!! She seems like a girl i would love to hang with! But she does start to sound slutty during the middle of the book. With her making out with both Gabe, Dan and also agreeing to go on a date with Brandon. Oh and she also started to daydream about Craig! but hey I can't blame her. If there was an entire town full of extremely hot guys that adored me, how could I complain :D! WHERE THE HELL IS THIS TOWN?!?! LOL anyway, yer great story line.. I kind of favor Gabe o...more
(3.5 Stars) "Kiss of Death" is an interesting little tale about a teen, Lexi Hunter who returns with her mother to Briar Creek to attend the funeral of her cousin, Austin. The rumor is Austin was killed by some sort of animal attack; but, Lexi begins to grow suspicious. While investigating, Lexi's mother dies from E-Coli present in beef she ate during a dinner with the town mayor. However, Lexi's mother was vegetarian.

This book was strange. It had really strange conversations that went from sensual to concerned to, well...mac and cheese. When you read it you will understand what I mean. Then there were points that didn't make sense. Dramatic events that didn't seem to phase the character nearly as much as being forced to date a guy she wasn't into, at the moment. Despite the random conversations and general weirdness of Lexi, the main character, I couldn't put the book down. Lexi seems like a typical drama qu...more
Kiss of Death was a pretty good book The suspense factor and cliff hangers were really good. I am normally pretty good at guessing what is going to happen and who we should suspect, but in this book I really didn’t know who to suspect. I suspected everyone!
This is a great book for young adults, my 15 year old daughter read both books that are out in the series in four days.
I like the storyline in these books and the first book leaves you with a cliff hanger where you can’t possibly not go out...more

I really enjoyed the plot of the first book of the Briar Creek Vampires series. It didn't take long at all to get in to and goodness knows I had a hard time putting it down. My own complaint is that there were parts with little detail or it seemed as if something would happen and you only realized it when the main character would say "oh and yesterday we decided ___". I didn't understand why the fight from yesterday was in the book but no other details.
Despite my complaint, the characters were...more

This book was not as great as i thougth it was going to be. First of all theres so many different guys in this book that this girl likes and doesnt like and then she has all this stuff going on around her and she doesnt find any of it weird. Then her mom dies and she cries and then is totally fine with it. She falls in love with this guy and kisses him on second time she meets him and wants to have sex with him already. I think it was written horribly and all you find out is that its about vampi...more
What I liked:
-The beginning. The opening scene was what initially drew me into the story, and I found myself thinking that if the rest of the book was as mysterious, this would be an awesome read. Even though Austin seemed a little cocky and unlikable, I liked seeing things from his point of view.
-The ending. The final chapter was the only thing that kept me from giving this book two stars. It was completely out of the blue and full of suspense and I never saw it coming. The ending was one of th...more

lexi's cousin, mom, and friend? but yet she isn't totally freaked out. Her passiveness makes me dislike her as well as her being attracted to every guy in a mile radius. I do want to know more about all the unknown questions that I have after reading this book. This book has potential to get better as the series progresses. I can see lexi evolving as the series continue. I do enjoy the mystery and so far Gabriel is a pretty good character.
This would have been a better book if the author hadn't made the main character in the book such a "Dumb Blonde"!!! Even though she is only seventeen I think that most seventeen year girls are much smarter than you protray her. I wouldn't have bothered to read the whole series if I hadn't purchased them all at the same time. Your Howl series is so much better than this one!!!!
I really enjoyed this book! Lexi and her mother went back to Briar's Creek to attend the funeral home of Lexi's cousin, Austin. While visiting there, Lexi decided to find out what actually happened to Austin because she feels that people are hiding something about his death. Then things really start to happen! Don't miss this story if you love mysteries and vampires!
