Whoever said that UF was dead (or dying) must have read the wrong books. The Shadows Inquiries series is one of the best around. It has all the landmarks of the genre (kick ass heroine, angst, grit, monsters, federal agents and cops struggling with the truth) and it never repeats a cliché. Or better it makes them fresh.

Very, very good. In this book, Benedict has really hit her stride with Sylvie, and with this series. This has been the best of the series by far. In this one, the ISI has been blown out of the water by a coven of witches; and things happen to make the characters and other people of these stories question many of the strange occurrences that have happened in their lives.
The ending was very ambiguous to me. Is it the ending of the series, or the ending of a story arc? The ending had a 'riding off...more

It was such a treat to be back in the Shadow Inquiries world, and LIES AND OMENS doesn’t waste a single page before ramping up the action. Almost invisibly, Benedict intertwined gentle reminders about Sylvie’s past without slowing down the current events one bit. By the time Sylvie was clinched in what is the absolute best shower scene I’ve ever read, I knew I was going to gulp this book down in one sitting (and I was right).

The Shadow Inquiries series continued with plenty of action, frustrating romance and otherworldly type creatures aplenty. Sylvie once again has to save humanity from the magical world and those hell bent on destroying the ISI with no care who falls into their path.
Sylvie is kick ass, loyal and full of surprises. We continue to get a peek into what being the New Lilith entails for Sylvie while continuing to keep us (and her for that matter) in the dark. We get a hot and sexy shower reunion scene...more

I enjoyed this book. I think it sets things up nicely for at least a few books after this one.
It was nice to see so many characters return. Demalion, Dunne, Erinya, and Alex, of course.

Overall the story showed amazing promise. However some parts were long winded which in turn left me bored for a few paragraphs or a chapter. I thought it was a great story, the one thing I'm left with wondering is, is this the end of the series? In a way, it's a perfect ending. It could either be the finale of the series or it could go on creating more installments. Either way, really good writing, I have enjoyed reading all Lyn Benedict's installments in this series!
