Although the presidential election of 1944 placed FDR in the White House for an unprecedented fourth term, historical memory of the election itself has been overshadowed by the war, Roosevelt's health and his death the following April, Truman's ascendancy, and the decision to drop the atomic bomb. This book is primarily designed for presidential campaign junkies, a club to which I belong. The author is to be commended for writing about this campaign, whose history was buried by the more pressing history of WWII. A great book! Jordan took great pains to layout the full evolution of the election: pre-primary, primary, general, and the results. This is the first book I've read with a detailed explanation of Thomas Dewey and it certainly made me realize he was less than an ideal candidate.

A very interesting account of the 1944 presidential election, between Franklin Roosevelt and Thomas Dewey. I found the book to be well written, interesting, and helpful in understanding an important event in our nation's history. I enjoyed it greatly.

This book was a pretty fantastic account of the 1944 election. I'm sort of a political buff, and I was surprised to have learned a few things through my read.

Of course, This books is quite dry before the conventions, and was quite a slog to get through. Otherwise, a great read.

A bit too detailed, but overall a clear and readable account of the 1944 presidential election.
