I only gave this one 2 stars because about 1/2 way through I started getting annoyed with Luna. There's innocent naivete and then there's 'Darwin Award' winningly stupid, Luna was edging closer and closer to the Darwin award end of the scale. While she wasn't too stupid to function, some of the things she said and did really bugged me; particularly because she was so smart in other parts of the story.

Vicki Lewis Thompson has a wonderfully engaging style that swept me away as I read her nerd romance novels. The humor and romance has kept me reading the werewolf series as well, but I have to admit I wish she'd move on to something else. I don't think she will because she seemed to have set up a sequel, but I have to hope.

I have to say this was the best book in this series mainly because I found some sort of an equality between the h/H and despite the heroine being less experienced I really liked how she was so pragmatic about the status of their relationship.

In the past, werewolves have suffered greatly when their existence becomes known to humans, not to mention how it dilutes the werewolf bloodline. Such parents would not even know if their children were werewolf or human until they reach puberty, something Colin cannot imagine. Colin has not been back to Seattle to see his aunt in fifteen years, something he now regrets. His aunt left the island on which she lived and owns to Colin, to his shock. I get a kick out of this series. On the surface it is a light paranormal romance but underneath it all it is all about tolerance or intolerance as the case may be. This is the first where the heroine is already knowledgeable about the paranormal elements as she is half were, half human. I was quite pleased with the honesty of Luna's character. The author could have made Luna hide it for most of the book, making it the main conflict. Instead, Luna admitted it the truth in the beginning, surprising me, and taking the story in a different route, which was nice.

I am still debating how I feel about the way the author handled Colin's prejudice against humans and half-were matings. He admits it is hard to forgo years of rigid beliefs in a matter of days to accept her human half background; since he doesn't consider her mate material, I'm not sure why it is such an issue. He also sleeps with her really quickly, using her lack of were knowledge and were sexual experience as an excuse. This seems like a very quick (and illogical) outcome considering those beliefs.

Even more worrisome for me was the fact that Luna just accepted his posturing. She says nothing negative against his contrary actions; just goes with it, continuing to satisfy their natural were urges. Whether this was due to her lack of were knowledge or her desire to be with Colin, I am still unclear.

Narration
The narrator's rendition of Colin's brogue wasn't very strong, and at times, sounded like a French accent instead of British/Scottish. The author described it as a light brogue with a heavier connotation during moments of great emotion. Also, the narrator's New Orleans accent resembled a southern accent true, however, I'm not sure it picked up the cadence of NOLA.

In conversations where the ladies of inn were all together (with the exception of Luna, who's accent was quite distinctive), it was hard to distinguish between them. This, surprisingly, was not a problem for the range of male accents. Not even when both Scottish brothers spoke; I was still able to distinguish between the two of them.

It was a cute story. The narration wasn't so terrible it detracted from the overall story. Nothing hard hitting but amusing for the 9+ hours it took to listen to it. These type of stories are funny and especially good to listen as they require no intense mental concentration while listening to them. Even better, as the series is loosely connected so you can pick up a book and read it out of order without getting lost.

And for a girl like Luna, who has been hiding all her life, she sure knows how to loosen up. I loved the characters. Thompson is very good at creating strong independent women, but for some reason they always take a step on the dependent side near the end. They always change their lives for the men in them. Sometimes this upsets me, but sometimes its seems to fit the characters and circumstances. Although the ending was a little bit awkward, and the bad guy in this story didn’t feel so “bad” more “sad” I still enjoyed the characters and the story. I will be definitely keeping up with this series.
Good:
Luna: Independent, organized, cherishes what she has, and isn’t fooling herself with what may be, instead she sticks to her guns and making it all happen.
Colin: Irish Brogue who happens to he a werewolf? Yes, please. Add a sentimental side to him and you have yourself a winner.
Bad:
The plot was a little weak. I expected a “badder” bad guy. The ending of the story was also awkward, but considering I kept asking myself how they were going to do it in the end it seems to fit things well enough.
Overall (Writing style, story line, and general):
Awkward in some placed, but good overall. The story lines was will plotted and the characters all had their own personalities making each character one whom you would remember. The writing was well-done although I will admit that sometimes I did have to re-read things to make sure I was understanding them correctly.

Normally, this isn't my choice of reading material. That being said, I was ill and laying in bed, and was thoroughly entertained by this rather racy, to me, novel. A bit disappointed by this one. Until now I thoroughly enjoyed Thompson's Wild About You series which was both humorous and romantic.

This fell short for me, there was more focus on Luna's virgin status than on anything else. I felt that it really lacked any kind of conflict between the main characters, except for Colin's opinion on human-Were matings which he completely rethought as soon as Luna told him she was a half-breed. This happened in the first quarter of the books.

Though he has pleasant memories of visiting his aunt and the island, his duties as laird just won’t allow him to take on more responsibility.

Never fitting in nor having a home until she met Geraldine, Luna loves the Pacific Northwest island that has called to her since she arrived. She’s a hybrid, half were and half human, and never had anyone to guide her throughout her were life. Not wanting to lose the only place she’s felt comfortable, she has decided to propose a business opportunity to Colin when he arrives – turn the house and island into an exclusive shifter retreat.

When these two meet, the attraction is instant. Luna is determined to keep her distance because of her proposal, but Colin doesn’t care one whit about business getting in the way of having that lovely assistant in his bed. He doesn’t hide his feelings about weres mating with humans, so that’s another reason Luna doesn’t want to get involved with him, but good intentions on both sides go by the wayside every time they’re together. I like the early sexual tension between them, they don’t hide it, even if they don’t act on it then. And we don’t have to wait three-quarters of the book before they do fire up the pages between the sheets.

Colin tries to hold on to his idea that humans and weres don’t and shouldn’t mix, but meeting Luna makes him rethink things after a bit. He also helps her find some of her family, but they run into trouble on one end while finding a new beginning on the other for Luna. Colin has trouble of his own at home, so the time comes when he has to leave. Though they both know this time has to come, you begin to wonder what Ms. Thompson will do to get them to their happily ever after. You know it has to come, but the anticipation is fun until you get there.

Colin is a delightful hero, kind, generous, gentle, and sexy as all get-out. He even dons a kilt at one point and you can’t help but drool over him. Luna is a combination of savvy and innocence, which is due to her being alone with her werewolf-ness while growing up. There are some quirky secondary characters who keep the laughter high. This is a fun, light-hearted romance, as are the previous books in this series. It’s a feel-good read that will brighten any bad mood or reading slump. If you’re not sure what to read next, try this one. It’s time for some fun!

Though Colin and Luna are nothing that I haven't already come across in this genre, I still thought they made a cute couple. Luna is an attractive, intelligent woman who lost her parents at a young age and didn't find out what she was until she hit puberty. She'd prefer to get by in life without anyone noticing her. Colin is handsome and smart and from a influential shifter pack. He's against human/were matings because of the threat of exposure. From the moment Colin arrives, a relationship starts to form but is threatened when Colin reveals his feelings on matings. Seemingly okay with the understanding there could never be anything serious between them, Colin helps Luna explore all the sexual wonders that comes with being a werewolf and it's not long before they become more emotionally involved than they wanted to be. Their relationship was predictable but I enjoyed watching them come out of their comfort zones to create a hot yet sweet relationship.

From a pair of sassy housekeepers to a sweetheart of a pilot, this book has a great supporting cast that was there to help Luna and provide some laughs. My favorite supporting characters are ones we never actually meet. Geraldine and Henry didn't care that their packs didn't approve of their mating. They created their own life and memories on their island and Henry even built a mansion for Geraldine. Their story is very romantic and I loved when others would tell stories about Geraldine because they told of a woman who did things her way and never apologized for it. If the author ever decides to write a novella for these two, I'd definitely buy it.

Werewolf in Seattle is mainly about Colin and Luna overcoming obstacles, which mostly included themselves, to be with one another. There is a side story that starts developing in the second half of the book that brings in a relative that Luna wasn't aware she had and the serious problems he could create for her. I liked that this was included because it added a bit of suspense and dove a bit more into the lives of Luna's parents. Werewolf in Seattle had a cute, albeit predictable, romance with a hero and heroine you can't help but cheer for. This can be read as a standalone book or you can go back and enjoy this series from the beginning.

The Wild About You series breaks with tradition and features a half-breed heroine and pack leader rather than a human heroine and a werewolf but it still has the same cute and humorous vibe. Colin McDowell is a Scottish werewolf who inherits not only a mansion but an island from his Aunt Geraldine. Thinking it is too difficult to manage from afar given his responsibilities as pack alpha, he is determined to sell the place. Well, determined at least until he meets his aunt’s charming sidekick, Luna (snicker). The racial/species stereotyping rears its ugly head again which is getting to be a bit monotonous.

Much is made of Luna’s virginal status. As a half-breed, she dared not risk a relationship with either a human or a werewolf, even though we are assured a number of times that she really is hot. She knows next to nothing about werewolf habits which is a handy device for our author to describe her world. Colin is more than generous in helping acquaint her with the werewolf world by having lots of sex with her. Hmm. Colin however is your typical and traditional bigoted werewolf who was raised to be anti-human. The importance of keeping the bloodline pure blah, blah, blah is the kind of thing that leads to in-breeding and genetic disorders in the human world so I wouldn’t be surprised if it popped up in Colin’s pack. I amused myself by imagining a whole pack with haemophilia as a way to explain the lack of fighting. I was pleasantly surprised that Luna refused to listen to such rubbish – I wasn’t sure she had such presence of mind – and end things. Colin now actually had to work to convince her that she needs him. He might look amazing in a kilt and have a Scottish accent but I felt like batting him over the head with a sign saying “just say no to inter-species discrimination”. Yes it does take time to change bigoted beliefs in real life but this is a fantasy world and we have already explored this issue in earlier books.

The plot hung together reasonably well even though it was pretty predictable but the strong point in this series is usually the romance. This is the third time that the initially strong women have had to reorganise their lives around the men and their needs without the men needing to make a similar sacrifice. I like to read about relationships where both sides are on equal footing. I was also disappointed that we had another set of brothers going through the same issues as Roark and Aiden. A little more variety would have been very welcome.

"Werewolf in Seattle" is still an enjoyable read with lots of humour and sex but the darker undertones are starting to grate a little.(less)

Sure, the story line isn't exactly overflowing with profound meaning but, lets be honest, who expects an epic plot out of a book like this? Not me. What attracts me the most about this series is the high hotness factor, the easy-going plot and its overall cuteness of it all. This book is the perfect feel good read and when you throw in a couple of werewolves; I'm sold.

I found the author's name choice for her main character a little over the top. Not only is this a werewolf book but Thompson names her female protagonist Luna. Talk about over doing it in the stereotype department! Although, I must admit that one of the reasons why I love these novels so much is because of their corniness. Vicki actually does make a connection between the heroine's name and her mate later on which I liked. Anyway, name aside, I immensely enjoyed Luna as this tale's leading lady. She's driven, foxy and loyal; what's not to love! Her background story is pretty touching too. I didn't expect so much detail from this series but you won't here me complaining. Werewolf in Seattle delivered exactly what I was expecting with a few added bonuses. That's aces in my books! I was happy that there's a nice balance between the main female and male characters. They don't fall apart when their relationship goes awry which I found refreshing. Neediness is not an admirable trait to have.

Colin McDowell definitely lives up to his hunk status in this novel. I was über crushing on him from the get-go. The guy has a killer body, a smoking hot Scottish accent and a winning personality. Or, in other words, he's the whole package! Oh, and did I mention that he wears a kilt at one point? Yeah, h-o-t! I liked how he always took the time to think things through before making an important decision. His "wee man" is screaming mighty loudly at him on several occasions but he doesn't succumb to the heat of the moment. Now, you're probably thinking to yourself: "wait, what? that doesn't sound right". However, given Luna's past and the present circumstances his approach couldn't have been more perfect. Colin is exactly what miss Reynaud needs even if she doesn't know it yet.

This book has a little bit of everything in it. There's romance (obviously), werewolf politics, drama, and even a bit of intrigue. I have to say that this is my favorite installment in the Wild About You series so far. I don't think it's essential to read the books in order but I do like that the heroes from the different stories are brothers who are facing similar qualms. It might be a small connection but it is one nonetheless. Werewolf in Seattle's playful storyline and endearing characters are a winning combination that'll make you giggle and blush. Oh la la!

Bookswagger Marcia: Three Crowns. I enjoyed Werewolf in Seattle, it was a light funny read, a reminder that not all paranormal has to be dark and gritty. I found myself laughing out loud during certain scenes. You will be able to jump right in without following the series. The background characters help the story flow, they’re great for laughs and who doesn’t love a virgin who wants to get it in.

As Luna charmed everyone in this book, she charmed me as well. I am not sure that I can put my finger on it, but I found it really hard not to like her. She was so open and refreshing, not really caring what people thought of her, well except for her one little secret, her being a half breed wolf.

One of life's guilty pleasures and this author knows how to serve it up. A bit of romance, a bit of smut wrapped in a flaky plot-- and you have the book that you can't put down but you feel a bit silly reading! A pleasant run with the wolves! Who says blondes have more fun?? I think the weres do~!

another really cute book by this author, whom i've read since she starting writing her NERD series a while back. this series deals with werewolves instead of computer geeks, but they are still light, enjoyable reads without a lot of angst or drama. the perfect read for unwinding after a long, arduous day

I didn't enjoy this book as much as the first or second book. There were several amusing moments because of Luna's weird sex questions, but I just didn't feel as good about this story as the last. I also didn't believe the mad-to-sad emotional response of the villain, George, in this story.

This was yet another great book in the series, though a little different than the first two. I don't want to give too much away about this novel, or series, but if you have a thing for werewolves, and like a good romance novel with some eroticism, then this a great series to check out.

I love VLT's Wild About You novels! This book was a great read. Lots of humor & a sexy Scottish werewolf. The secondary characters were so much fun...loved Dulcie, Sybil, Janet & Hector. I can't wait to read Duncan's story!
