What do you get when you pair one bad-boy good looking homicide detective with his returned from the dead female partner? A dynamic duo that is on the hunt to track down a serial killer in Sacramento. What more could Detective Tony Camarelli ask for then to have his partner, Julia Reynolds, as a ghost dead by his side solving the homicide cases!

Sacramento Sheriff Department homicide detectives Tony Camarelli and Julia Reynolds have been partners for twelve years. They knew each other inside out,

A fantastic read that I didn't want to put down.

Prior to writing this review, I went back and read the blurb for DEAD BY HER SIDE by GLORIA GALLOWAY. I don't want to be responsible for giving any part of the plot away because you are going to be hooked on this book as soon as you open it. I made sure that you will not find any surprises in this review about the plot that are not listed

Dead By My Side has a good storyline, the first few chapters were engaging but there were also some disappointments along the way. When Julia, Tony's police partner, was shot dead, the book became an emotional read for me. Reading about Julia's life and her relationship with Tony (more than friends but less than lovers style) before her death, well, it kept things interesting. The first disappointment happened while Tony and dead Julia were investigating their first murder case in the story. A m ...more

Dead By My Side started off a little bit slow, as author Gloria Galloway introduced me to detective Tony Camarelli and his work partner Julia Reynolds of twelves years. I found that once I was a few chacters into the book, the writing flowed with ease, as I turned the pages and got sucked into the story. Author Gloria Galloway also shows her readers that she really has a knack for going into great detail about how the detectives collected their evidence and how they did autopsy's (which I sugges ...more

Gloria Galloway is to be congratulated! In only a few pages, she produced a character, Julia, so likeable that when she dies at the beginning of the story, I shed a tear. From then, the story gets even better, following the efforts of Tony, her work partner of twelve years, through his grieving and the search, not only for a wife murderer, but for a serial killer as nasty as any in fact or fiction.

An thoroughly engaging ghost, Julia keeps Tony on his toes, occasionally managing to help with inve

Normally, I steer away from books with ghosts or any paranormal content, but this one doesn't dwell on that side of things, even if one of the MCs is, well, dead. The books is a police procedural mystery with likeable characters with an interesting plot that moves along at a good pace.

I found the book very entertaining. I am surprised to find no other books written by Gloria Galloway. The characters are likeable and I never felt like the book was bogged down.
